Not so mysterious.

Over ten years old... dear god where did the time go!?
Also we could likely get a joke jump out of it.

What's religion like in your sci-fi setting, /tg/?
How have present-day Earther faiths adapted to space?
What new faiths have sprung up among the myriad worlds of man?
Do any Xenofaiths of Aliens have traction amongst humanity?

Read the glorious victory section of the 2 pagerules, if your opponent has no models on the table you immediately claim a major victory.
The generals handbook does not override this, the victory conditions of a battle plan only come into effect when there's still two armies on the field.

You are wrong.

The world is entirely flat, but off on the horizon in all directions ice mountains can be seen. It is forbidden to travel to them
So I've just realized, after several years of playing Pathfinder, that the options of non-spellcasters in battles come down to "moving and attacking" or "attacking a few times, without moving". Sometimes you get a fancy modifier to your attack, but that's the only thing that changes.
What system would you recommend that has more engaging combat mechanics for fighters?

If you want something different, go play the failed abortion that is 4e
Runequest
GURPS
Burning Wheel
Fate
Reign
FUDGE
Riddle of Steel
D6 Fantasy
Pretty much anything that isn't D&D.

I actually briefly looked into this, but there's so much shit that I don't really know where to start. I looked at the free Lite thing and it just seemed like more of the same, but I feel like I'm missing something.
Thanks for the other suggestions though, I'll check them out.
What's your favorite depiction of Kobolds, /tg/?
I like the idea that some weird quirk of kobold brains allows them to make purely communistic societies that actually work instead of breaking down in murder and chaos.

Kill Team is a scaled down 40k game made by Games Workshop with larger focus on "Your Dudes".
Kill Team Heralds of Ruin (HoR) is a fan made take on the existing system which adds various improvements, realism and codexes for unofficial factions like ogryns, grot rebels, hrud, etc.
Discuss both GW Kill Team and HoR Kill Team, just don't forget to specify which one you are talking about.
Tips for a noob player with Dark Angels?

GW killteam
A friend of mine brings 5 fire warriors and then as many piranhas as he can afford.
Nothing I can do with codex marines works against it, I just don't have enough anti tank.
the only way that I've managed to take them all out is to use raptor chapter tactics for the rending bolters on scouts. Is there something that would work without using broken forgeworld chapter tactics?

Has anyone made a Hrud killteam? Sounds fucking cool
Throw Your Brainstem Out The Window Edition
Traveller is a classic science fiction system first released in 1976. In its original release it was a general purpose SF system, but a setting was soon developed called The Third Imperium, based on classic space opera tropes of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with a slight noir tint.
Though it can support a wide range of game types, the classic campaign involves a group of retired veterans tooling around in a spaceship, taking whatever jobs they can find in a desperate bid to stay in business, a la Firefly or Cowboy Bebop.

So, Cepheus, Mongoose or CT? What do you guys prefer?
>>51673549
Classic, because it's always been my one true love and I enjoy the old retro feel. I have a pile of battered LBBs still prefer them other more modern stuff. That being said, I have no problem plundering the good bits from every other system.
>>51673549
CT77, followed by a more generic CT 1-3 & CotI & one or two other sources, followed by RTT1, all with random bits of GT & GTIW.

What do you tell the player?
I don't have that problem because I don't play with faggots.

>What do you tell the player?
My players recently did a favor for a powerful noble, and he feels indebted to them. I need them to dislike him.
The problem is that they're basically just mercs, and he's an evil overlord list style guy, so he's not going to fuck them over without a good reason.
Help?
>>51801186
Lazy solution: Arising circumstances necessitate that a thing or person the PCs care about must be destroyed and His Grace do the deed themselves.
>>51801240
That feel a bit cheap. I'm also pretty sure he'd re-consider if he found out they cared about the thing. The saved a close family member's life.
>>51801268
Why do you need them to dislike the guy? Tell us the story, maybe then we can help you better.
Speaking of cheap though, is there any third party that is opposed to both him and the players? If those were able to stage a convenient false-flag operation there might be some way to at least leave it up to chance.
Can we have a TL;DR for lazy anons?
It makes the Imperium of Man look like pussies and lucky bastards.
>>51801108
humanity is one of many butt-monkeys of a universe-spanning war between a super advanced specie named the Xeelee who, if I remember correctly, may or may not originate from a former universe, and a race of hyperintelligent space creature made out of black matter that feed on stars named the photino birds. Having access to so much more black matter than the xeelee to regular matter, the outcome is inevitable due to the sheer logistical advantage. Battles span entire galaxies and takes millions of years. At some point the xeelee try to excape the universe, building a portal out of millions of galaxies assembled into a ring. The photino birds throw galaxies a relativistic speed at it to try and destroy it.
So year, Kardashev scale up to 11. Humanity barealy appears on their radar and struggle in a dominate or be dominated universe with countless aggressive races.
And those guys have nothing on the Manifold Trilogy's Downstreamers.
Hey /tg/, I was looking into grimdark and sort of edgy settings and systems to run for my players. Mostly for a laugh, and SotDL looked pretty neat.
Was thinking of trying it or Lamentations of the flame princess.
Any suggestions or recommendations one way or the other?
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2E, using RAW char gen rules.
The system is both great and hilarious.
>>51801021
Good suggestion anon, I only brought up the two I did because I'm actually sitting on those PDFs through random pdf grab bags. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find Warhammer fantasy though.
i tries Warhammer 3rd ed and it is baaaddd.... so complicated and unnatural that its not even funny. How is Lamentations ?
lets make a setting
I'll start
>modern fantasy
>modern fantasy
The boring kind with angsty vampires or actual fantasy world modernized?
>>51800820
The latter
>>51800806
Human supremacists rule the land, butthey actually have a point, because most races are assholes to each other and often seek to genocide the other. Only races that inhabit radically different ecologic roles, like fish people and tree elfs, manage to coexist at long periods of times.
What are barbarians like? I've played marshals, but I usually go with fighters.
I don't even know how the enrage mechanic works, honestly. In some stories I've heard here it sounds like they just start cleaving allies and friendly NPCs when they get out of control, which seems like... a really big drawback, y'know?
Wait, is it marshal or martial?
Melee guys.
>>51800423
>it sounds like they just start cleaving allies and friendly NPCs when they get out of control
That's Frenzy, not Rage. Some people treat them similar in-character, but mechanically rage just gives you +4 str, +4 con, prevents you from doing non-combat actions, and makes you tired afterwards.
Barbarians are just people who have natural skill in combat, which hasn't been earned through training.
>>51800532
How does frenzy work?
