Is there anything you can trust /tg/'s opinion on?
Invariably, whenever any question is asked, at least 30% of the replies are insanely stupid. That's a lower percentage than many other boards, but it really seems like we got a lot of people trapped on mount stupid rushing to get their opinions heard here.
At best they are phoneposters that just want to quickly reply between school/work and don't have the time to check things. At worst we have to deal with the fact that large portions of this board never played any traditional games and is just here to shitpost about things related to it.
There is a simple question used to find out the quality of a board.
Was the Eragon / Inheritance trilogy good or bad?
>>53039356
Nah, you can't trust /tg/'s opinion on anything.
We've reached the point in popularity where we can no longer be a unified culture, and instead are a bunch of warring groups, which means that literally every opinion will have a guy telling you that you are wrong.
Throw in contrarianism, and /tg/ is wrong about literally everything out of spite alone.
>Please, your omnipotence, have mercy!
How would your character react?
You ever had mercy?
Let's roleplay this situation. Let's pretend you're the powerful archmage and this family here is begging for mercy. Would you give any to them?
No, you didn't.
He'd be perplexed and a little disturbed.

Apparently yesterday was the Israeli independence day anniversary.
Given that's one of the most politically interesting, militarily active regions in the world, with a rich local mythology and folklore, does anyone know any RPGs focusing on it? How would you run one? What good ideas might it include? How about "fantasy Israel" or "science fiction Israel" (as opposed to the far more common "fantasy/science fiction Jews", since the cultural stereotypes are all but reversed)?

Help! The other day I saw theese dice in a thread. I haven't seen them anywhere else. Does anyone know where can I get them? Thank you! Also strange dice thread if you want.

What kind of magical antics have you gotten up to in your latest campaign?
My DM's letting us swap out racial +2 for our next game. I'm planning to make an Abyssal Tiefling Battlerager with their new spiky feat.
Is this cool or no?
Reposting;
So I am making a neutral good dragonborn Paladin. He is devoted to Tamara, but I am torn on a pretty big choice.
One is making him a Silver Dragonborn who is a Folk Hero. Your usual hero material stuff.
The alternative is making a White Dragonborn Hermit. The idea being that he has desperately tried to cast off his heritage, and has been accepted his God (of mercy, so I thought it was pretty fitting), and have a bit more of a struggle to navigate in social situations, because chromatic Dragon.
But would the second choice be a bit too edgy/snowflake?

Getting turned into an 11 year old girl because of wild magic surges.
This is why Wild Magic Sorcerers are shit. Never again.
Unknown Armies thread!
Question for the day: how would you fit
>grey aliens
>Bigfoot
>the Loch Ness monster
Into the weird, symbolic, humanocentric cosmos?
In order :
>Cheating immortala who survived a universal remaking. Well most of them anyway. They use Magiq a toolbased kind of magick from.their native world that works incredibly well because their entire existence is backing it, despite that existence no longer existing.
>godwalker of The Outsider
>A log hyped up by a cabal of cryptid/legend focused... cliomancers or whatever the history based magic was - who try to produce their own historical events around urban legends.
>>53037947
For the greys my best guess is some kind of Revenant. Probably of people who were obsessed with the supernatural, taking any reasonable idea or normal situation and painstakingly deconstructing it looking for some shred of "evidence" that "the truth is out there". Ironically, they now take the shape of aliens deconstructing objects, farm animals and humans looking for something inexplicable.
The flying saucers and greys are just manifestations of the demon, they're not actually real and can't be seen by large groups of people. Like all Revenants, they can cause Unnatural Phenomena, explaining all the incidents of "Missing Time", floating objects, spontaneous combustion or disjointed memories of anal probings involved.

Just realized that my last three characters have had varying degrees of daddy issues and just wants to prove that they are not useless. Does that mean I have daddy issues? Or am i just unoriginal? Could Roleplaying and character creation be used as a way to analyse people?

Could you smart people enlighten me to economics a bit?
How would a society in the early phases of an industrial revolution switch over from simply turning over their crops to paying in currency for taxes?
The idea I have in mind is that an Empire was formed from various smaller kingdoms where, like japan, people were primarily paid in crops and it wasn't until the unification that they began switching over to actual currency. One of the hold overs from this transition is the "Harvest Tax day" because the village leaders would get the share of their crops ready from the rest of the village from the local lord's envoy.
I suppose in general can we discuss economics and how they could affect one's setting?
>>53036473
It would have to come from a centralized institution that bought up everyone's wares to force the circulation of money. If you're going for a sudden switch that is.
>>53036610
Nah the switch won't be sudden. The Empire in question has been in existence for some 400 years unified with the only recent change being the Emperor taking an extended leave from rulership due to illness and the Empire being ran by a council called the Primacy.
In that time the Emperor forced through several major infrastructure projects mainly mining (for the materials used to make the currency) and a road way system that has been remade to accomodate cars.
>>53036703
So then just the evolution of money? In my homebrew (post-apoc), we just use scrap (a mix of tradeable/usable/salvage) or bullets. Fluffing a new currency is alot.
I've decided to include a mercenary company made up entirely of women in my next campaign, but I'm struggling to come up for a name for them.
What would you call a woman-only mercenary band?
