Woah, literally what the fuck happened?!
Granted I haven't watched any of his videos in the last 8 or 9 months, but jesus, did he trigger more people or something?
>>53052195
Literally who?
Whoever this is, I assume it's because people realized how much of a raging autism he apparently is.
>Granted I haven't watched any of his videos in the last 8 or 9 months
so you only missed one video?
>>53052195
Didn't you hear? He literally went insane.
When designing a dungeon is it necessary to put on a epic boss fight at the end of the dungeon?
Are there any good alternatives to the cliche epic boss fight at the end?
No particular system in mind, I've just noticed this also repeats itself even in modern games in the form of the helicopter or tank at the end.
>>53052153
I almost never put a boss for the sake of a boss. The only times I ever do it is if my players seem to really want one and I don't really have time to set something up proper, in a campaign where battles against singular, overpowering monsters is the norm, or in a dungeon where it has been well established that the entire reason they are going to this dungeon is to kill this powerful monster. Usually, major villains really aren't that much stronger than my players, they just have considerably more assets at their disposal, and an (unstated) knowledge of the script. Actually getting them into a fight is the hard part. Once that fight has started, they usually die quickly.
I do sometimes work a "boss" monster into something, but usually not on the main, most likely path. It's usually somewhere where I predict someone might try something really dumb. Since my games usually don't give out xp based on monster-killing, there is really no incentive to go out of your way to fight one and waste resources.
>>53052153
Good bosses are not at the end, but arrive when it makes sense and control the scene.
>>53052153
I'd say if you're gonna make one, make it interesting. Have the room filled with traps, have the boss change targets, summon minions. If it's a really big creature, make the players climb it etc.
Just don't make it a nondescript, white space where martials stand in front of the boss and whack it and casters blast it from behind.
Now that the dust has settled, was this game any good?
Also, historical /tg/ thread, I suppose
Flower/sun square in the middle is OP as fuark.

I had this game on some freeware in 1996. it was very fun. sort of an ancestor of modern backgammon. are there alternate rules sets? I always had a hunch this game was like mancala and had different ways of playing.

What are some "titles" your character could boast about, based on their deeds and/or general mannerisms?
For instance, my variant human bard from the Underdark calls himself
>He who crawled from the cave
>Spider-eater
>The pale performer
>Tounge-cutter
>He who sleeps in the earth
Sir Roderick the Gatecrasher, Wyrmslayer, & He who slew the Lich of the Forest
I also had a BretonIan Knight in WFRPG 2nd edition game that had a huge flowery title with a bunch of deeds but Idk how it went

Continuing from >>53039459 this is the final part of Judge Dredd: The Cursed Earth, one of the earliest 2000AD epics and quite possibly the finest Robert Zelazny fanfiction featuring Ronald McDonald and a satanic T-Rex you’ll read this year.
As always, Dredd’s good inspiration for cyberpunks and grimdark future junkies. This particular story is good for showing how you can include misfits who aren’t sticklers for rules in a group with someone who Is The Law, how to portray what might seem to be a brutal enforcer of a repressive regime in something approaching a heroic manner, and a whole bunch of really peculiar ideas to spice up encounters on long quests.

The story so far... after Mega City Two succumbs to a hideous plague, Mega City One sends Judge Dredd, Lawman of the Future, to bring them a vaccine. Crossing the radioactive wasteland which is all that remains of America outside of the Mega Cities Dredd and his team encountered mutants, monsters, aliens, dinosaurs, robo-vampires and maniacs of all shapes and sizes. Finally, with victory in sight, the broken remains of an apocalyptic android army made a surprise attack. With his vehicle destroyed, Dredd was forced to walk the final sixty miles to Mega City Two across the burning Mojave desert...
Can we make a game out of it?
Are we up to the task?

Just wait for the series to come out. Gorillaz a shit after the new album.

No, there really isn't.
How much more complicated is Magic compared to Yugioh?
How much more compared to Hearthstone? Really tired of Hearthstone, want a deep and complex card game.
>>53049680
Yugioh is Shit.
Magic is Shit.
Card Games are Shit.
Games are Shit.
Life is Shit.
That's the impression you're going to get from this thread.
Magic is actually less complicated than Yugioh, but more complex. The rules are better written, so there's less pointless bullshit and more meaningful interactions.
>>53049680
Magic has more interaction than Hearthstone since combat is dictated by the defender and you can act during your opponents turn. It also has very little RNG compared to Hearhstone. Yugioh is much more complicated than either, but not in a good way. Many Yugioh cards have complicated and long rules text printed directly on the card and there is no attempt to standardize card behavior and interactions like Magic does. However you can still have fun with Yugioh if you can tolerate its bullshit.

The first of the Archived Threads from last year.
Let's get to it lads.
This thread will focus on world building and creating concepts for things based on terrain, climate, and how the Anonimi, being as small as they are, deal with it. Anything from homes, transportation and even clothing/equipment.
So, I'm thinking of mountainous terrain and think Aut/o/mans would be really great here as they can make machines and stuff from the minerals mined and scrap melted inside mountain strong holds.
Clan intelli/g/ent would probably fit in the mountains as well. Maybe they can all be mountain clans tinkering away, the /m/echanist too
Aboleths vs Illithids vs Beholders in a great three way war, who wins?
5e:
Aboleths.
They need to be killed in the elemental plane of water to actually die.
Illithids could "easily" beat the beholders, who wouldn't even work together.
I get the idea illithids have the widest influence, so probably them.
>>53047771
3.PF:
Aboleths.
They have all the memories of all their ancestors, and anyone they mind control, meaning they should all be stupidly powerful wizards, which are quite broken here. Additionally, their Dominate Person SLAs along with their illusions make them superb at subverting entire nations to their cause in a way the other two don't really do.
>When the players engage with the puzzle you made and find the right answer through logical thought and teamwork
>When you have so much material and so invested players that you can start running smaller downtime adventurers for half the group at a time, or even solo sidequests, over the week before the next session
>When you take two or three unrelated one-shot adventure modules and tweak them a little bit to bind them seamlessly together with one another and with the overarching setting
>when you jack off into the food you serve and nobody notices
>When nobody in the table can tell you've been doing your magical realm from the start
>When you make a long complex plot that you kept on the background, and finally the players manage to put the pieces together little by little during the course of the game.
