Hello /sci/. In a year from now I will have most likely acquired my Physics degree and the thesis I will present will most likely be about Quantum Information. Is there anyone around here studying/working on the same subject? If so, have you found the experience/payroll/whatever satisfying, or would you advise me to study something else?

Prove to me that the universe isn't infinitely 1 dimensional and that our 3 dimensions aren't an illusion, every math formula that doesn't use the number 1 and nothing else is a pseudo science. I call my myself a 1-dimensionalist. I'm tired of people trying to insert magic (other numbers and equations besides 1) into a real objective mathematical equation, which is 1. I've also stopped believing in shapes and colors. The only way to save this imperfect universe is by applying 1/ to every known math equation in existence. That way, all math becomes one.

I'm not memeing either, I truly believe the universe is only 1 dimensional. I think if most people, just remember in the back of their heads, when they reach the highest level of thought, that the reality behind the illusion is that the universe is one dimensional, that they will become more intelligent and objective. I think the polar opposite of one is an irrational number, and I actually consider all other numbers such as 2, to be semi-irrational. Perhaps the number one contains all the irrationality of our universe. There is really no need in having any numbers besides one and infinity, but infinity can be contained within one, I actually believe they are the same thing. Other numbers may exist, but they are contained within one, and one is the dominant basis of all math and existence. All higher dimensions cannot be more dominant than one. So if math was a democracy, other dimensions and numbers could exist, but "1" would have at least 51% of the vote, no matter what. Therefor this universe is dominantly one-dimensional. All things can only exist within one dimension, these are the illusions giving appearance to more dimensions, but one is always dominant. Time is the only force that can create "new" dimensions within one, but there are no new dimensions within one, rather, there are simply new "definitions" of one. So time alters 1, but one will also dominantly stay the same.

There is not more than 1 dimension, but lesser dimensions are added to our universe with "time" these dimensions compresses infinitely into one. Every moment of "time" stacks a dimension and also compresses it infinitely. Creating a new version of one, that is also exactly the same. Though the universe can not be more new than it is old. The reality is the universe has never aged, but compressed time itself so that we are constantly existing in a single moment of one, people may believe in multiple moments, but the dominant force in this universe is one, so there is only one moment. Time is also the real second dimension, but it doesn't exist since one is dominant.

Did you guys hear about the farthest galaxy in the universe? It's said to be around 12 billion years old or something like that. It's so far away, the entire galaxy is redshifted.

OP the day we decide to stop trying to put a sizable hole in each other's heads over whatever contrived ideal of right and wrong is will be the daub Gabe Newell releases Half Life 3. We as a species are born to fight and try to see who's better and seeing how we're close to releasing radioactive loads onto everyone's face and back it's inevitable that we'll all die to atomic fire or the aftermath. Sinply putting it, no Anon we'll die before what you suggested ever happens.

Is passing around resources in research a common practice? I need to find a certain immortal cell line and my advisor just told me to ask different professors in the department if I could have some. On one hand I know reagents are really expensive but on the other it's a cell line so it technically won't run out unless the stock gets contaminated. It just feels weird asking people I never really met if I could have some cells they spent at least a few hundred dollars on.

yeah, super common. if it's legitimately rare they probably won't give it up (at least not without money/trade), but for something like a cell line, i'd be surprised if a lab had some but wouldn't share it. and even for reagents, if you only need a tiny bit for one experiment they might still share for free. i see people borrow a few microliters of restriction enzyme now and then

also see if you have a cell culture facility on campus, they might have stocks of those cells.

also the better bet if you're worried about people not giving you something: ask a grad student, not the prof. unless the lab is brand new, the prof hasn't worked in the lab for years to decades, they don't know what they do and don't have. but if you throw a six pack or two at a grad student you can get anything you want

I mean, I know that dream interpretation is considered "new age / pseudo-science" but where is the hard scientific evidence to back that claim?

Almost everyone seems to have similar dreams like teeth falling out for example, but current research would say that these dreams are just "random and meaningless". I have been having recurring dreams where I am together with this qt 3.14 and just when we're about to kiss I wake up.

So how can having the same dream 3 times in a row be considered meaningless?

This indicates OP's ignorance of what science means.

Can someone please explain singlets and triplets from quantum mechanics in brainlet terms? How can clouds of electrons have spin if they are fucking clouds? And what the fuck is it with all these up and down arrows? Is this just some retarded mathematical formalism or is there any basis to reality?

They don't actually spin. The particle of the collapsed wave function has angular momentum or something like that, and we call it spin. As a wave function, the "spin" is in a superposition of all directions.
>>
See, the problem with spin is that it is one of the first "properties" one stumbles upon while studying quantum mechanics, which does not have a classical analogue. It is a property of the particle, which follows the same algebra as angular momentum, though it is different from it. The arrow we use, or the image of an electron "spinning" around itself, is just demonstrative - spin is not due to electrons moving around themselves.

Now, since the spin of an electron can take one of two possible values (spin = +1/2, spin = -1/2), we use the words "up" (+1/2) and "down" (-1/2) to be able to tell the two values apart (again, the electron does not have an "up arrow" on its head, it's just a way for physicists to communicate on common grounds). So, what happens when you get a system of two electrons? Each electron has a spin of its own, so when you study their system you are going to see one of the following possibilities:

1) Both spin up
2) Both spin down
3) One with spin up and one with spin down

Now, let's do something different. Instead of looking at electrons one by one, let's study their system first. I'm not sure if you have covered that part yet, but let's just say that a system that consists of two electrons can either have a total of spin = 0 or spin = 1 (you'll see in the future why, if you haven't already).

Spin = 0 is nothing but the so called "singlet" case, because there is only one way of "combining" the electrons' spins in such a way that gives a total of spin = 0 for the system.

But spin = 1? That's a different story. In this case, there are three different ways of combining electrons into making a spin = 1 system. This is why they call it "the triplet".

I'm not sure I helped you in any way, but I'd advise you to search online for angular momentum/spin coupling and Clebsch-Gordan coefficients.

Anyone who knows about the subconscious will tell you that it is sabotaging you, when it thinks your too good. So could a nice try be a successful sabotage? In other words you are ruining. Science tells us nothing about it (time and the subconscious).

From the try down is an accident a self sabotage?

Human error in general-

A wrong answer: A successful self sabotage? Nothing stopping a lucky guess.

What about this?

Accidentally spill your drink on someone, sure its a self sabotage, but turn it around and say "thats what you get for sitting there while i'm ruining you ya dumb dog" - now doesn't that make you better than a cluts? think about it

anyway if i right:

Doesn't it suggest that a beginner starts good, and then ruins. In other words practice is useless, your pushing against the self sabotage and another one is getting credit against the self sabotage. Should you instead be seeking permission from you subconscious?
