Is who wants to be a millionaire just a game of luck?

I mean, there's 33.34% chance of being right unless the person happens to know the right answer, and lifelines can only get you so far into the game.

Let's say there are 15 questions with 4 choices each. Let's also say there are 3 lifelines: call-a-friend, 50-50, and ask-the-audience.

For each of the 15 questions, there is only 1 correct answer, and 3 incorrect answers, so immediately your chances are 1/3 = 33.34%. You can use each lifeline once. Using phone-a-friend, let's say gives you a 95% chance the person you call is correct. So 1 question is 95%. Similarly, we can say ask-the-audience gives you a 95% chance. Finally, 50-50 will remove 2 wrong answers, so you have 1 right answer and 1 wrong answer, so you basically know the answer. To recap:

Question 1: 33.34%
Question 2: 33.34%
Question 3: 33.34%
Question 4: 95% <--- ask-the-audience
Question 5: 33.34%
Question 6: 33.34%
Question 7: 33.34%
Question 8: 33.34%
Question 9: 95% <--- phone-a-friend
Question 10: 33.34%
Question 11: 33.34%
Question 12: 33.34%
Question 13: 33.34%
Question 14: 33.34%
Question 15: 100% <--- 50-50
Total: 690.08%
Divided by 15 questions = 46.00%
So basically, it's more a less a game of chance, but more than half the people on the show will lose, so it's not very fair. That show is making tons of money off of people.

I had no idea there was a name for this. I literally can't walk outside on a sunny day without sneezing two to three times. It's especially bad if I come out of a dark building then walk outside. Doesn't really bother me but everybody always thinks I'm sick.

How do I increase my task salience?

Right now, I have to be listening to fast music, and drinking caffeine/smoking to be able to do work uninterrupted.

I want to at least be able to do 4 hours of uninterrupted, solid work.

Pic is how bad my hand's sake after so much caffeine.

What is your grade like now? Are you working toward an eventual master's or PhD? Are you a freshman? Keep going until the the deadline to drop your class without affecting your GPA. Gen chem is easy peasy, if you are behind, catch up NOW, everything you will ever do in chemistry is based on the stuff you are learning now.

For the past week, I've been feeling really bad. Extreme migraine, nausea, and the feeling that I'm going to pass out. I have never felt so sick. I also feel really out of it. Kind of like a weed high, without the giggles.

Yesterday morning I went to the emergency room and they said my heart rate was 170 and I had very low blood pressure so they put me in a wheelchair and I don't remember much but the entire day several doctors and nurses were trying to figure out what was wrong with me, and this morning they discharged me with a letter telling my job that I should be back in a week. I still feel horrible, actually even worse.

An hour ago I got a call from one of the doctors telling me to come back immediately and that my blood cultures came back positive.

I'm sitting in an uber on the way to the hospital as I type this.

Am I dying? That makes me sad.

Stop for a minute and breath. Think that you are gonna do it right, and then think of something you like to do, and think you are going to do that after the exam
>>
>>9135547
There's nothing to worry about. Either I did the work and understand the material, and will therefore be fine on the exam, or I didn't and don't so I'll earn a bad grade on the exam. Generally, one bad exam won't sink your chances of passing the course and a whole, so it's a good time to refocus how you're spending your time.

Can /sci/ please redpill me on Structured Water?

I mean, in the sense of, my friend was telling me about it and actually fucking believe it. I countered his nonsensical arguments by insisting there were more important and relevant fringe theories to explore, namely, the flat earth theory.

What the fuck is wrong with people? What causes an otherwise intelligent person to fall for complete bull shit?

yeh water is structured cause it's slightly magnetic and it stays structured and retain memory even in a stochastic thermodynamic system. It must not change its structure when swallowed or moved around at all. Or when exposed to any heat. I'm sure it plays a significant role in cellular metabolism. Even if it did retain a structure it would be immediately fucking changed because of heat. God damn it all to fuck these are the same people that think microwaves are bad for you. Go take a lecture series on thermodynamics for fucks sake.
