How easy/painful/impossible is it to repair a dead 80s point and shoot film camera?
Its totally dead, owner says it stopped working one day. Should i buy it anyways to see if i can get it back from death? Its a cool camera.
pic unrelatd.

its the autowinding, self focusing, full auto type.
There could be any number of thousands of possible things wrong with it. Nobody here can tell you how easy or not it will be to fix it.
>>2718570
im curious about them too, thinking of buying a broken t4 and then getting it repaired
So I just started photography and took these pictures the other day. What are your thoughts?
Also ITT post your favourite pics and/or most recent pics you took
hey guys!
i'm sure someone here can help me
i'm looking for a photographer's name
i've heard about him at art history class
i don't know where did he live, but somewhere between 1900 and 1950 i think
all of his stuff was black and white thats the only thing i'm sure about
his main theme was mad people, and other creepy stuff similar to that
it was very dark and creepy

I just recently got into photography and am just using instagram right now and it fucking sucks
Share something here and I will tell you if this should be your biggest problem or not;)
>>2716160

You need to use the right hastags too
Recently developed pictures from my Japan trip this summer. Still have around 6 undeveloped rolls but no money right now so will have to wait to get those developed sometimes.
C&C as always appreciated

Hi, beginner here, I come from k, anyhow, I recently took these pictures with my phone (samsung galaxy note 1).
I know that I could probably do way better, but I know jack shit about photography.
Any pointers for a newfag? I'm considering getting a camera soon, anywhere i can read up and study photography?
This would mostly be done for fun.

As far as I know it is better to always use and recharge the same group of batteries together.
I tried using permanent markers, but they come off and are also not easy to see if the battery is black.
I tried to use tape, but it was too thick, and thus the battery would not fit the speedlight.
Any advice?
>>2720921
If you're putting this much energy into which batteries you're using, you're doing it wrong... Pick up a single job per four years and you'll be able to pay to replace any batteries you accidentally wear out.
>>2720925
What if one battery explodes by mixing a charged one with a discharged?
>>2720921
I know eneloops come in different colors for specifically this reason.
First time in /p/
I've been reading reviews of the past few days on the net, and I think I've settled on Sony RX100 for £256
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DSCRX100-Advanced-Digital-Compact/dp/B008CNMZDW
I'm not a photographer, I have always used my phone's camera for shooting (as of now OnePlus Two). I probably won't become one the guys who constantly changes lenses, having a camera in my pocket when I go on holiday etc would be nice, I won't be taking much pictures elsewhere.
So /p/ is RX100 a good choice for me, any issue with the version on that Amazon link? Any others you would recommend?
I don't know about other versions of the rx100 series but I have the mark III, grabbed it back in May for a trip to Italy. I love it, I've personally have a lot of pros that work for me.
non invasive, I used it to photograph a christening in a church, shutter is silent as fuck when you turn of the digital shutter noise.
Fits in pants or jacket pocket, I carry it with me everywhere I go, I have it in my pocket at the moment at work and took a few photos earlier this morning. Having it always on me and shotting revived my interest in photography back when I first got t and still has it going, would recommend, but keep looking for what you think works best for you
>>2720796
no flippy screen.
get the II or canon g7x
>>2720796
If all you want to do is just have a camera with you at all times this is probably one of the better choices. I would recommend looking at getting a Mark II or III though, they're a large improvement over the original.
Other cameras to look at are the Ricoh GR and the Lumix LX7. The GR would be my pick if you think you'll get more serious about taking photos later on, but if not the RX100 will be a perfect fit. It's a great little camera, my one complaint is that it feels far too small in my large hands, whereas the GR is just about the right size
Lets take this from another Angle what is the piece of equipment you most regret buying. For me it has to have been a Godox SY3000. Legitimately dangerous. Don't buy these pieces of shit. This is what the flash cap looked like after it exploded an spewed fumes everywhere. Anyone else got horror stories?

any cap can explode, I have seen em come out of Profoto Pro7s like that
Yeah I'm one of those newfags who fell for getting a film camera instead of a digital cam. Aside from getting the camera for $100 which can be had for $20, I also have a ton of negatives which I don't know how to digitize since I'm saving up for a DSLR to be able to scan them.
But enough about that. My problem now is how can you apply the Sunny 16 rule if it's already night time or if you are indoors. I usually shoot at this time and do night time street photography because I'm at work in the mornings and afternoons. The lightmeter on my camera doesn't give proper exposure and the contact on the battery slot broke so I don't have any lightmeter. I can't use my smartphone since I live in a 3rd world infested with thieves.
I'm shooting mostly with a Kodak ISO 200 film since it is the cheapest one that I can afford.
What are my options /p/? Can I be a master of exposure so I can exactly tell what proper exposure is needed on every scene without any light meter?
>>2719528
In short, nope.
Indoor light is so variable and your brain does so many internal adjustments that your ability to judge light absolutely is really quite awful.
Buy a light meter that isn't likely to get stolen, I guess.
>>2719528
>I live in a 3rd world infested with thieves.
you live in brazil, m8?
>>2719528
3rd world?
Dude, where the fuck are you from?
Because im from a third-world country and here, i can take out my dslr to the streets, look hipster as fuck at 1:00 am, alone, and nobody would try to rekt on me. You're not from a 3rd world, you are probably from a fucking shithole-world country
Imagine you're going on 4 week trip. There will be a mixture of all types of Photography and you need to pack light. But you still want to bring a DSLR. What is the minimum setup that you can live with?
last time i made a big trip i carried with myself:
-dslr+kit lens
-zenit slr+2 lenses
-pentacon six+1 lens+portra 400
dslr did its job, took about 3000 shots, but cant be bothered to watch at them.
zenit was a light leaky piece of shit, almost all photos were lost. film was ultramax 400. never again.
pentacon did gud first roll, i pretty cool pictures from there. 2nd roll and it went to ass, the frame counter broke so i ended taking pictures thinking it had film but it didnt. lel.
oh, also carried a tripod.
>>2719009
>you need to pack light. But you still want to bring a DSLR
Well there's your first mistake.
I'd bring an APS-C mirrorless and a kit lens. if I'm done packing and still have a bit of weight and space left, I'd throw in a normal/wide fast prime.
I bring my dslr with my trusted 24-105 f4.
It does get a bit heavy but, still love taking photos with it.
