1. Anyone have experience shooting street and landscape with the 50 prime on a crop sensor? How was it? Did you feel that you needed something wider?
2. Should I get D7000 with 35 1.8 or D600/D610/cheapest full frame available and use the 50 I have (this is packing for a trip. Just a camera and a versatile lens.) maybe some info on image quality? Not too worried, I have good glass and I use Lr.
I'm not fussy over what gear it's that I'm indecisive.
Thanks
>>2720968
50 on crop is a short tele, general portrait range. Select your distance accordingly. If you feel you need wider, then go for a 35, 24 or 18mm prime (50, 35 and 28mm equivalent on APS-C).
>>2720968
hit submit too early...
I'd rather recommend the D7000/7100/7200 because it is a mid range body with crop sensor. The D600/610 even if it has a FF sensor it is an entry level body with features dumbed down. You get a full workflow on the D7x00 while you will feel limited an the D6x0.
If you want a good FF on a budget, look for a D750.
Anybody here who knows some tricks to stabilizing your camera without a tripod? Tomorrow I plan on taking some pictures in the city at night, but I don't want to carry my bulky tripod around. Also I'm stuck with portra 400 film for now.

...don't, it's a waste of film. 400 is way too slow for night. Generally though, you put it on things.
Portra 400 pushes to 1600 nicely

I freaking love the angry photographer. I think his insights into technical information are amazing. He easily beats silly content writers like FroKnowsPhoto, Ken Rockwell, DigitalRev. Number one thing: His information is actually useful. He says useful things that are useful to photographic technique.

I'm a fetish photographer and was wondering if it is illegal to tie up 17 year olds and take photos of her for kinky neckbeards across the world. The age of consent in my state is 17, but do any other laws apply?

I dont discriminate based on age, if a model fits my requirements and is consenting to the subject i dont see a problem.
i dont think i have to explain why younger girls are more desirable in this type of business, although i dont think i could look at myself right if i did it to any age younger than 17.

>street photogs, street photogs everywhere
I know everyone here are new and got their babby's first dslr but why are you still shooting street? It's not the 1950s anymore and get yourself a real subject. Street shooting won't get you anywhere. If you want to be a pro whether be a wedding p a fashion photog, showing your clients your street photo portfolio won't mean jack shit. I myself have a model gf and use her as my subject instead of creeping the fuck out of anyone on the streets and making them your subjects. Whenever I see street photogs I see wannabe pros who are just creeping put everyone. If you want to learn there are other better subjects to photograph.
tl/dr if you shoot street you're an uninspired, uncreative wannabe protog who will forever be a hobbyist who only cares about gear

This is a thread to share your tips and tricks, or just stuff you found useful, be it small or large, useful or fun, that you have discovered in your photographic endeavours.
-If you have an iphone: Settings - General - Accessibility - Triple-click Home and select Invert Colors. You now have an instant negative viewer. Works very well for MF and LF, but the camera sometimes struggles with focusing 135, tho you will still get a pretty good idea. Works well for both B/W and color.
-FP-100C does not have to be opened after the required time has passed, but will self-terminate developing, so you can open it when you get home, if you feel like it. May be obvious to many, but it took some time of shooting it before I realized.

Hey street /p/hotogs
Do you think you will be a better street photog if you are an attractive girl?
>not being put in the creep zone
>more candid shots because people are not creeped out by you
>not likely to be robbed by thieves but they might get your number
>if you are a petite girl you can take better shots since your eye level is already around the waist level of tall guys
>take better shots because you can shoot closer
>you're probably not a /p/haggot so you don't care what gear you are using and just shoot and shoot
>you are not self-conscious because you don't care what people think of your gear
>you are already beautiful and used to attention so you don't care if other people are looking
>if people confront you, just smile and they will gladly have another picture taken
>no need to ask permission to take photos
>can stealthily get all the chicks you want and even take photos of them in the ladies' room
Other than that women photogs definitely get more opportunities in the professional photography.
>girl
>not being self-conscious
in what world do you live in
Actually yes. I've seen it happen first hand with female friends. Totally different reactions between an attractive girl doing street and a guy doing the same thing.

Hello /p/. How do I become a master of exposure and a steady hand? I am an aspiring filmmaker and am going to be shooting a lot of stuff on my own so I need to improve in all aspects of photography. I've been fooling around with a DSLR for about a year now and still cannot manage to get where I want to be in terms of quality. No matter what I do, it seems that something is always getting blown out.
And whenever I try to take still photos, they end up blurry no matter what shutter speed I shoot at. Pls no bully for the love of god, I want to get better at this but I'm just confused as to how to go about doing so.
Sorry for no original pic.
>>2719170
shoot something right now at 1/250 and post here. I want to see that blurriness
>>2719170
> master of exposure
Any decent DSLR / MILC knows the basics. If you bought something with decent DR, you can also fix this to a tremendous amount in post, no problem.
> and a steady hand
Decent IS, and a gyro if necessary? Or just a tripod or monopod.
1/200 - 1/300 or whatever also does the trick, if that's acceptable for shooting conditions present and your camera/lens combo.
> And whenever I try to take still photos, they end up blurry no matter what shutter speed I shoot at.
They shouldn't in general, but maybe you're shooting with a cheap craptastic lens.
Actually, most lenses are relatively poor when you shoot them wide open, for that not to be the case you usually pay a pretty hefty premium. Take them 1-2 stops down and the good ones are near perfectly sharp.
>>2719174
This. Post some photos you've taken in good light, with correct settings. We'll help from there.
>>2719170
If your camera isn't broken, reading your manual should give you all the skills you need to achieve a non-blurry photo.
Also, don't stop down to f/36 for "DOF"
(It's ridiculous to say, but it's been a theme around here for a little while now, so it's worth mentioning)
Alex Burke you are our only hope.
