Hankook are pretty good
IMO I think advocating a certain brand is fucking dumb. Either advocate specific models or fuck off, as all brands have shit and great products.
Alrighty... so, yesterday I bought this 1969 D100 for a hundred bucks... runs and drives
Shortbox, 2wd truck that some dingle fuck cut up and placed tool boxes in the bedsides...
Anyways, I'm going to do some minor body work and paint the thing. And figured, hey, it's got tool boxes, I'll just make it into one of those vintage service trucks! that way the boxes won't look retarded, and I won't have to re-sheet metal the bedsides.
I need recommendations and ideas on what brand/company to theme the truck.
This is an example of what I'm talking about...
>>17666346
Paint it a shitty matte red and then put a fake old gas station name on the side, like Big Red's Gasoline or Jones & Sons Truck Repair.
Keep the body as is and go through it mechanically. Going to look like a complete boomermobile as a fake service truck.

Posted this on /adv/ by you bros should've been my first stop. My uncle passed last year and my aunt is having an estate sale. He had purchased pic related years ago to restore, but unfortunately didn't have a chance. He was a big Mopar guy. I have alot of respect for my uncle and know he wouldve been so proud if I took up his project. It's a 1972 (73?) Dodge Demon. Here's the thing...my aunt wants 9k for it. This includes brand new seats, transmission, 2003 hemi engine from a 1500 ram I believe and has all the parts it needs to be running. My question is how doable is this, is 9k too much and how expensive would this all be? I'd have to ship it from Oregon to California as well. It would be my first restoration and my experience is limited.
>>17665977
This is very doable...talk to your Aunt, see if you can do payments or some shit...get your Gramma to badger her...rent a fucking car haul trailer from U-Haul, drive north and pick the fucking car up, turn around and drive home...
>>17665977
Whew that's a lot for somebody else's unassembled project. Does it have the computer setup sorted for the modern engine? Do you have a workspace?
It's so fucking awkward to place monetary value on emotional shit like this. I assume this aunt is by-marriage and not your blood? Otherwise you'd know what she wants $9000 for and she'd put some value on keeping it in the family etc etc.
>>17666081
I felt a bit stung by her price but I understand why. She's selling everything to buy a new house to live in by herself down here in California. I'm telling myself I'm okay with it due to it helping her in some sort of way.
Halp, /o/. I have an '04 Mustang GT that pulls to the left while braking. I bought the car this way and assumed the pulling was due to the worn out steering and brakes I got it with. So I replaced all the shit that was getting tired:
>Steering rack
>Rack bushings
>Front calipers
>Front hoses
>Rear calipers
>Rear pads and rotors
>Front and rear shocks
>Rear quad shocks
But it still pulls in the exact same way. Only thing I haven't done is get an alignment, but that's happening next week now that the steering and struts are fixed. Tie rod ends, ball joins, and control arm bushings feel good.
Am I missing something here or could it be purely an alignment issue? Car starts pulling when you hit the brakes but evens out if you keep on them.
>>17665844
Did you do your front brake rotors and pads? Do you have uneven tire wear?
>>17665844
That's actually a standard feature to avoid plowing into crowds
>>17665854
No uneven tire wear. I didn't do the rotors and pads in the front, since they look good and have been wearing evenly. I think they were fairly new when I bought the car.
I have to buy a new pickup truck within the next 6 months. What should I get? My budget is 35,000-45,000 USD. Here are the features I would like in order of importance:
>Reliable
>4wd
>Manual
>Long bed
>crew cab
>v8
None of these features are necessary per se, but they are preferred
>>17665558
probably going to have a rough time finding all that.
in my humble opinion over the course of my lifetime ford has made a very reliable pickup, but you can't buy a full sized one with a manual anymore.
i know ram offers such a creature, but i've shied away from such a brand. chevy has made good trucks in the past, but wouldn't buy anything now from them now.
bottom line give up the manual, and grab a ford or toyota.
>>17665558
>manual full size truck
those haven't been made in the last 10 years at least.
what do you haul? why do you need a truck?
>>17665558
Manual doesn't really exist anymore.
Long bed and crew cab I don't think exist. Best you can do is long bed extended cab.
Anyway, choices are
>Nissan Titan
Too bad it's a Nissan
>Toyota Tundra
Bretty good truck honestly
>Silverado/ Sierra
Also good
>Ford
Also good, probably
>Ram
Lol no
So, I would look at the Ford, Cheby and Toyota. See what you like best. I have a newish Tundra and a new GMC Sierra 2500, few complaints about either. I test drove some Fords and I thought they lacked refinement amd needed to step up their offering but they're obviously very popular.
Preferably stuff I can find on Spotify datas expensive.

NOT A PRODUCTION CAR
My question is, why would you even consider one of these when the WRX STI exists?
Where do you guys buy your car parts? I like Rock Auto.
me too
Order them from a local napa/oreilly/autozone, whichever carries what I need for newer cars, For classics I use those but also ebay and forums for used parts and model/generation/chassis type specific sites for new reproduction parts.
I usually go to Oreilly for small stuff on projects I need parts for right away. RockAuto for higher priced shit I can wait for.
Case in point, BIL wants new LCAs on his Escape, I'm not going to be able to help until next weekend.
Oreilly $88/ea + tax
RockAuto $40ea +10 shipping.
Is it true what they say about beamers? Are they really unreliable? Let's say I get pick related will I regret?
