Alrighty... so, yesterday I bought this 1969 D100 for a hundred bucks... runs and drives
Shortbox, 2wd truck that some dingle fuck cut up and placed tool boxes in the bedsides...
Anyways, I'm going to do some minor body work and paint the thing. And figured, hey, it's got tool boxes, I'll just make it into one of those vintage service trucks! that way the boxes won't look retarded, and I won't have to re-sheet metal the bedsides.
I need recommendations and ideas on what brand/company to theme the truck.
This is an example of what I'm talking about...

Paint it a shitty matte red and then put a fake old gas station name on the side, like Big Red's Gasoline or Jones & Sons Truck Repair.
Keep the body as is and go through it mechanically. Going to look like a complete boomermobile as a fake service truck.

Already gone through it... it's turn key now.
When I bought it, I had to drive it away by arcing a screw driver across the starter solenoid...
Now I hop in, turn the key, it starts on the first crank and drives away.

>it starts on the first crank and drives away.
You should probably get that fixed. Or at least step on the brake when starting it.
But seriously, those flames are awesome. I think that removing the tool boxes is a better solution than covering them up.

The top 6 inches of the bed sides were cut off to mount the tool boxes there... I really don't have the welding skills to replace those sections with new metal

Damn. That's too bad. Are D100s that rare that you can't pick up another bed?
I like the flames though so thanks for sharing =)

Not a shortbed, sadly. In those years dodge was almost entirely focused on muscle cars, and increasing their respective sales numbers. The truck lines were geared towards being work/farm trucks(almost entirely long box versions). Most had very rough lives, and were not all that desireable. In the end, finding one of these body styles in decent shape is quite a task. Moreso to find a shortbox. That isn't rusted/wrecked..
