What's the general opinion on the BMW M240i? Seems like a fun yet not painful to drive daily on shitty roads that's about 90% of an M2 for $10-15k less. Is the B58 engine proving to be a solid motor so far?
Not much to say about it. It's too expensive, in my opinion. If they aren't going to give us the dct then I'd rather just get an m2 or stick with the m235i which is a great value right now. 35k certified pre owned with sub 20k miles.
>90% of an M2
The M2 has M4 subframes, suspension and an active differential.
I say this as a bmw driver, fuck off you inept millennial faggot.
I drove a MX-5 tuned from the german tuner Wimmer-Rennsport yesterday. Holyshit guys that was pure driving heroin. Best car I ever driven and I drove a lot of different and more powerful cars.
>205hp
>0-60 in 5.7sec
>still n/a and great sound
They want 3700€ for the tune which includes a CAI, Headers, racing cars, bigger valves and an ecu tune. I think BBR offers the same package in the U.K.

Racing cams actually.
But it's actually more like mild fast road cams.

Im talking about these badboys. Seems like I suck at English.
>Keep all of your engine components as cold as possible while it's running for best performance!
>OMG don't rev your car on a cold start or drive it immediately, everything is still cold!
Well /o/, explain this shit. Which one is it?
Well, the first one is definitely wrong. Engines run at hard 90C to minimize cooling losses. That's why they have thermostats. Take off your thermostat and see what kind of performance you get.
The second one is kind of wrong. It really depends on how cold we're talking about, though. Idling in a parking lot is not doing your drivetrain any favors, however.
>>17667099
The "cold" in the first sentence is about a 120 degrees hotter than the "cold" in the second sentence.
>>17667103
>Idling in a parking lot is not doing your drivetrain any favors, however.
So what SHOULD you do to properly warm up the engine?
Anybody else feel like modern crewcabs aren't really trucks?
They're like giant utility sedans. Most of the people who buy them basically use them for that purpose. They're like a 70s landbarge with a removed trunklid.
Gotta realize that trucks are luxury items now more than ever. Paying $50,000 for a truck with leather and more buttons than an SR-71 is commonplace now. Vehicles that are big represent power and wealth, so what better vehicle to buy than a platinum F-150 if you want to show your wealth? Its the same philosophy as buying an S-class. This is especially true for American car buyers but bigger is better
>>17665162
Trucks have evolved over the years, from a spartan, uncomfortable workhorse to a family conveyor. Guys need to make up for their small dick, even if they're married, so they want a big, masculine truck to haul their family around in. That's why the compact truck died off. That and safety reasons making cars more bloated than ever.
>>17665162
modern trucks are luxury hotrods that get around emission standards by being trucks. the bed is superfluous
>Lexus Enthusiast, citing a report from Japanese magazine MAG-X, claims that the GS soon get the axe.
>According to the MAG-X article, the reason Lexus put the development of a replacement GS on hold is because of the new LS. Given that the LS has had its engine downsized from a V8 to a V6, there is no longer enough of a difference between the two products to justify building two different cars. Instead, Lexus is hoping to fill the gap left by the GS with the LS.
>In general, GS sales have never been incredibly strong, partially because the front-wheel drive ES is cheaper and satisfies most buyers’ demands for a mid sized luxury sedan from the automaker.
More FWD Lexus. :^)
Lexus shills defend this.

>LS has had its engine downsized from a V8 to a V6
pathetic
>>17664235
Only a rumor.
>>17665475
>muh rumor
>According to the automotive sales tracking website GoodCarBadCar.net, Lexus GS sales were down 61 percent in 2016, with fewer than 15,000 units sold. Yet the ES managed to find almost 60,000 customers in the same year despite seeing a 21 percent drop in sales compared to 2015.
>Perhaps the reason why the GS never really caught on is because Toyota corporate wanted to cancel the car after the second generation, but kept it because of pressure from Lexus executives. It seems that Toyota didn’t really put much effort into advancing the GS into something that could rival the technology and driving experience similar to the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 series, and Audi A6.
>It’s not looking good for the future of the GS, and while its demise is still a rumor at this stage, given the market conditions, the fact that we may not see a new model after 2018 isn’t terribly far fetched.
>CEO of Toyota really want to scrap GS badly...

Why don't like girls like cars? The number of female car enthusiasts is vanishingly small compared to the number of males. Is it just hormones and cultural inertia? Bonus points for not sounding like a bitter /r9k/ virgin.

Why even drive a standard transmission with a manually-operated clutch when there are cars that will do the mechanical part flawlessly and leave you the choice of shifting when you want?
It's all of the good and none of the bad.
ex-manual driver here, too. No, I've never replaced a clutch because I was good at shifting.

What kind of Dashcams does /o/ use? Looking to get one.
Spytec A119
I've had this dashcam for half a year, it's really good.
>>17652132
I have an A119 (original, not V2) on my front windshield, quality is just fucking orgasmic with 1440p. Fuck the A119s at only 1080p, looks way worse, and costs more. Hard to find the original A119 anymore but it's good value. Just don't buy it if you plan to run parking mode.
I just added a rear A118C2, it has pretty good quality but fewer features, and not quite as good as the A119 because it's again only 1080p.
I highly recommend the A119 unless you need parking mode. Parking mode is a bitch to deal with, honestly. It can definitely be worth it but I just try to park in safe places where it's hard for people to hit me.
Whatever you get, make sure you get a HIGH ENDURANCE microSD card, the regular ones shit out really fast in dash cams.

I see the 1440 one on Amazon right now for $90.
I'm really trying not to go over $60. Also this camera is going to be running all day in a car with no AC so its going to get hot.
