Hey /o/

It takes me a while to get home so I would like to do some cooking inside of my car. Pic is related.

I will have a little grill on my passenger seat, something powered by some portable means of energy, maybe a small propane tank.

Then I will have a small cooler underneath filled with food that I can cook.

I would be cooking on the freeway on the way home from work so that when I get home I can just serve the food on my plate and then eat it.

The car is a shitty drawing, but in real life it is a crown victoria that I am driving.

So does anyone else cook on the road? I will mainly be cooking steak or chicken, so I will be driving with all of the windows down.

I dont care about the smell ruining the value of the car because I will use this car until I die.

Anyone here cook in there car on the way home to save some time?

This. Certainly not small hatchbacks like a fucking Mini Cooper, unless you're very specifically trying to get some sort of non-threatening metrosexual schtick going on, and I've only ever known one guy who's ben able to get results from that game.

Buy the car you like, not the one you think other people are going to like.

I understand that FWD cars are capable in oversteering, if you intentionally induce it...

But since when has it been possible to oversteer a fucking Honda Accord, just by steering a little harder than usual? These cars are known to understeer.

If you want more details, this happened during a little street race with a friend.

We both deliver pizzas and we happened to leave about the same time, to go to the same area.

We have both heard about each other being skilled drivers from our other friends, but we never seen each other drive.

The route takes us through a winding road and we both knew what was about to happen once we got onto the road.

I drive the 1990 Accord in the OP and my friend drives a Subaru Baja; I understand how much better his car is and how shitty my car was, but we still wanted to race.

It's also raining.

So I've just calculated a ballpark cost for my first major project. Its gonna cost me $30,000 - $35,000 + "labour", so all up will probably be $45,000 - $50,000(au).

Basically im going to get an interior swap, paintjob, engine + tranny swap, and a s/c @ 8psi. (Plus basics like fuel lines, brakes & suspension, etc).

The car is a BA Falcon wagon.
Engine will be a V8 that will bolt on
Tranny will be 5 speed manual
Interior will be pic
S/c will put 450kW (600hp) at the flywheel.

Will i have the fastest wagon on /o/?

Sup /o/

With Canadian winter literally pissing over my shoulder right now, my car is having trouble cranking in the morning.

Basically, the headlights go dim with each crank, and it cranks VERY slowly--but it never fails to turn over. This only happens when the car has cooled down--it hasn't become very cold at all yet, and that's what worries me. I've had difficulty with slow cranking when it was 10C (50F) out. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's coincidental that it's happening now, but I know it'll only get worse.

Each crank will be separated by about a second, and probably takes about 5-6 cranks to fire up which isn't excessive (but it sure sounds like it when it coughs for 6 seconds). I've ruled out my alternator (steady 14.5 at the terminals, volt meter shows 13-14 always), and my battery seems to hold a charge fine--the lowest I've seen it is 12.25V which was after 2 days, and I'm pretty sure it's because I had the lights on for so long. It usually sits at 12.4 or 5.

Now, I have a big ass fucking Mercedes battery in my car--a 95 Jaguar XJ6. Naturally I'd assumed its cells need a top up, but I can't figure out how to get the fucking cover off, or if it's even supposed to come off. There's a hole on each side, and they don't seem to lead anywhere to release it... at least, that's what I could gather. I tried wedging a knife around and got no results, other than a tiny fizzle of acid around the middle of the battery when I must have gotten too close. This is fucking weird, how do I get the cover off? The indicator says the battery is "OK" but I'm pretty sure if it's able to be topped up, it needs it.

Thanks fuckers. Hopefully someone with a Merc knows what to do.

Pic is the huge bastard.

Pic is where the acid started leaking from when I stuck a knife in it. you can also see the indicator that states it is "ok".

Once the car is warmed up, it fires up immediately.

Unless I am being retarded then the small covers marked in red in this photo can be pried off with a thin screwdriver or similar
>>
Go to a battery place and have them do a load test on the battery. See if they will let you purchase a battery and return it if the problem keeps up after the cranking. If you have time, maybe keep the car there for a while to completely cool down, and then try starting it with a newer battery.

http://www.jag-lovers.org/xjlovers/xjfaq/coldstartchecklist.htm

You might check this out as well, although you didn't mention which XJ-6 you have. I'm kinda leaning towards not a battery issue if it starts when warm, if it's testing ok, although a load test on the battery would let you know that.

This seems like the right place to ask this.

My girlfriend is Chinese, and her family is rich as fuck. When she came to America to pursue her PhD she bought a tan beater 2006 Camry because she's also frugal. Now, her being Chinese, you can imagine the state of the car two years later. I literally just did it's first oil change a month ago because she didn't know that you needed to change it.

Anyway, the thing is tough but somewhat beat to hell. So today in the parking lot of her apartment complex, she had a note on her windshield. Someone in a newer Hyundai told her that she found massive scratches on her car and that "The paint matches your car so I know you did it." There was a number attached.

I didn't know this until I saw her today. I also didn't know that she had texted this other person asking if she knew when the scratches happened, as she hasn't driven it for about three days or so. This person responded, quite rudely, with the gist of

"I think it happened Wednesday or Thursday. There's scratches on opposite sides of our cars, and the paint on my car makes it look like you hit it. I want you to admit fault, and since you didn't, I will call the police." She then attached pictures.

I'm smelling a herd's worth of bullshit right off, so I took her phone and texted her "I will contact my insurance agency. Can you send me your insurance information?" Which I imagined to be very neutral, but I don't have much legal experience.

We went out to the parking lot to check out the situation, as their car was parked next to hers.

Two things that screamed at me as soon as I saw it:

1. On my girlfriend's tan car, there was a large scratch at the right rear wheel well. There was absolutely no black paint.

2. On the other person's black car, there is a similar large scratch on the left rear bumper, extending to the left rear wheel well. The lowest extent of the scratch was far lower than that of the one on my girlfriend's car.

(Brief Continuation)

>>13821825
Just get both insurance companies involved. If necessary, they'll do the testing of the paint swapped, and then they'll peg the costs on the idiot who brought the case up. (her)

I've had this question since years ago and have been wanting to ask you guys for the longest time but I decided to finally go through with it.

Can driving over a wet lane on a highway increase the life of your tires?

I hope to get at least some serious answers after the expected ensuing flaming/trolling from people who will immediately dismiss it as incredibly stupid.

>Can driving over a wet lane on a highway increase the life of your tires?
What exactly do you mean by this?
>>
The idea comes after watching an F1 race years ago where a team had changed into rain tires and the rain didn't get to the track, so the driver was advised to drive over whatever patch of the track was wet from the little rain/mist that got over a little part of the track, to keep the tires cool and from coming apart.
>>
>>13821597
I mean F1 drivers will roll through water to keep the wet tires cool so they don't degrade as fast.

I doubt it will make any difference on road tires.
