Hey /o/ I might be getting my first car tmmrw. (Pic Related) It has around 100k miles for 5k...
of course it is manual, I have already looked at the car in person, and everything checks out...(New water pump, timing belt and suspension...) The seller is a mechanic and seems very reliable... What do you think about the Porsche 924s?
Since there is not a lot about the Porsche 924s on the internet. can you tell me anything I need to know about the car before I buy it? The selling point of the car for me is, the cheaper parts since it is supposed to be audi/VW's entry level car, and that it looks fucking sexy

So a dealership has a car I really want. And the price isn't that bad because it's the kind of car that has a rice/enthusiast tax by most private sellers. And the dealer markup makes it actually a little less than what they usually go for.
I'm going to go in Monday and see about picking it up.
I know I've seen you post a lot about buying from a dealer LongPostGuy. I almost think all the advice you've given needs to be stickied because I dont remember most of it :'(
Can you enlighten me to all the tricks and stuff I can use to try to get the best deal?
basically they're asking $14500 and id like to spend no more than $13000 on it.
also tips for financing? I bring home a net of about 38k/yr average after taxes but changes with how much over time i work. I have good credit. Would it be wise if I get low interest to do a 60 or 72 month? I could afford large payments but figure if I can get a long loan it'll be safer with small minimums and I can just pay big payments anyway and pay it off after a year or so.
Advice please? all welcome, including trolls because I know you'll come either way.

My dad(a mechanic) saw it for sale at his auto shop, says it seems to be in good condition, aside from some minor things like a little corrosion on the top of the car and small windshield cracks. But the tires are pretty worn and they need to replaced soon, its on sale for 3500 but its already got 149k miles on the clock. Its a car that got decent mileage and from what i gather a reputation for reliability but 149k seems like a lot of miles to take it at.
Should i keep looking or does this seem like a really good deal?

I own an '86 pretty much identical to pic, it's straight and rust free but has paint fade due to being red, it's a 4-age and is 100% stock. Been offered $13,500 aud for it, should I keep it or sell? Are these gonna be major classics in the same category as the early skylines and 240z?

Is 5k reasonable for a nb2 ls Miata with 110k miles. Ripped leather seats but the following maintenance was done 5k miles ago:
Timing belt service with new tensioner/roller, water pump, thermostat
Valve cover gasket replaced
Radiator and upper/lower hoses replaced
Camshaft position sensor replaced
Spark plugs, coil packs and wires replaced
Power steering and A/C belts replaced
Oil changed then, and last week. I go 5k with Amtecol Synthetic blend. Alos had rear end and transmission fluids changed.
Headlights switched to an HID drop-in system.

Why shouldn't i buy a CRZ as a daily driver? This fucker here has under 10k miles and is being offered at 13k. I know the car isn't fast but am hoping it can still be fun when commuting, i want something relatively new. thoughts?

They aren't any fun to drive. They got the looks PERFECT, but everything else is shit. The chassis is shit, the engine is shit, the transmission is shit, the suspension is shit.
If you want it because it looks good, fine. But it's an economy car and nothing else. It isn't fun to drive by any stretch. The only things going for it are looks and reliability.

I have a Genius DVR-FHD590. I've been using it 5-6 days a week, 2-3 hours a day for over a year now. It works really well, and doesn't glitch out or anything. I put a 32GB MicroSD card in it, so I get about 6 hours of continuous footage in hi def, with sound.
My only gripe, and this is really more about my car, is that I can't mount it up high behind the rear-view mirror. My vehicle has this stupid black dot shit that comes down from the border of the windshield, to act as a sort of sun shade, and the suction cup won't stick to that. So I have to mount it down lower.

I have the G1W. It's adequate for the $30-40 price. Doesn't seem to loop the recording after it fills up the memory card though, but maybe I don't have the right kind. Date resets all the fucking time too.
But the video quality is sufficient.

That's fucked up, mine does it automatically. Maybe there's a setting on yours that you missed.
Also should have mentioned, the Genius FHD590 is $150 Canadian dollary doos. Not the most expensive, but not super cheap either. Well worth it though, considering what an insurance deductible is. This would effectively waive that entire deductible if there was a debate over who's at fault.

I got mine for $400 but it needed extensive brake work (new rotors, pads, a couple of calipers, and a parking brake adjustment). All that has been pretty cheap since I'm doing it on my own but it needs a fair amount of work if it's ever going to be restored to its former glory.
