I know /o/ has a boner for the Mazda 3, but does anyone think the engine itself is too fucking long on it?

It's the main thing that's throwing off its appearance for me.

I just recently picked pic related over a Mazda 3.

The interior volume is worse, but the warranty and rebates were better. Also more options available for your money.

Do charts/guides like the sticky pic exist for >yuropoor people? The sticky is cute to look at, but a lot of the text feels irrelevant with me living in Not America and all.

Nope

Whats the point anyway? We've proven in the past that europeans on /o/ don't really like cars, or can afford them
>>
I feel like we should sticky the ausfag car guide and try to make one for at least the UK or something, Europe just has so many different countries its hard to come up with a blanket list of stuff that's affordable.

hey /o/, i'm curious about cars but i never drove one for long, and i still don't have my license so all i've done is practice hunting on local listings like a pleb.so with that in mind, i've read the sticky and i've been wondering if this car i found is a nice catch.

it's a 1987 Nissan 300ZX Coupe
seller has it at $3,500.00 canadian. it has 102,000km which i figure isn't too bad, but i don't know what type of servicing this car needs. i usually just go by whether a car has over 175k so i apologize if i'm wrong.
here's what he wrote
>no rust,new clutch,new windshield,new timing belts,new transmission seal,all new fluids,digital dash

thoughts? will post some additional pics.

That's not bad. Is it a turbo or non turbo? I would go for it either way, but non turbos are slow. You can always turbo them later if you want and go pretty fast.

I'm not sure why the Z31 isn't on the sticky.

They can be decent handlers but there's not enough suspension travel to do a proper suspension setup.

Hello anons,

I need a new battery for my car. This is my first car, so I have no experience with this sort of thing. Which car battery brands have served you well over the years?

Thanks

Odyssey. Some Die Hards are made by Odyssey
>>
>>13826466
That may be true but they cost way too much for the average user and don't offer a better warranty. A $75 Walmart battery with a 3 year warranty will serve the same purpose as a $200 odyssey in a commuter car.

I have a 2003 Durango that I've driven about as much as I'd like to and I keep seeing decent deals on used Nissans....I have a family so I need some space.

NOT ENOUGH GRILLS
>>
>>13826355

Just spray it with oil.

The rust protection stuff (especially at $600) is probably a rubberized sort of undercoating, like a spray in bedliner. Those types of undercoating are notoriously terrible, mostly because eventually the rubber will get punctured by a rock or something and water will get trapped between the rubber and the metal, rusting the metal out even faster than if you hadn't gotten the undercoating at all.

Oil undercoating is good mostly because it can't do that - if a rock gets through the oil, the oil just oozes back into place after the rock is gone, or you just have one tiny spot where there's no oil.

I'm going to bethel, Alaska in 2 months. I was told they get a lot of snow. I'm driving as I'll need a car for 8 months there for work. I'm still undecided if I should bring my wife's car, a 2013 Audi A4 Quattro Or my winter car, a 2000 5.0 4x4 explorer. The Audi has all season tires and is newer, but the explorer is higher off the ground with MT tires. It's reliable but high miles, the Audi only has 30k

Which one should I bring?

id go with the explorer. you might scratch or hurt the audi with all the dirty snow
get those slush mats too

Hijacking the thread a bit, how's the A4 in general? I'm thinking of selling my 370z for a manual A5 (which is basically an A4) in a few years

Protip guys, don't sand an engine bay right before winter so when you get done, it's too cold to paint and then let it sit outside all year in frustration.

Ford Fiesta's your best bet. Just buy a car outright for 3-4K, and spend the rest on insurance and fixing it.
You won't find a used car that doesn't need four new tires within three months. And it'll probably need some more work down the line.

A Fiesta is a fine car. Goes well, handles great, carries a surprising amount of stuff. It'll give you an idea of what you want in a car.

Pick up a small hatchback with a 1.4 or less in solid condition for £1500 or so. Run it for a year or so and build up a no claims, THEN buy something decent.

As a Brit new driver, £6000 won't get you into anything good; spending more will only get you into something slightly less bad than average, like a 1.6 Civic or some shit. You're much better saving your money and buying a proper car later.
