Hey/o/

I have a old legacy turbo for a DD. It's getting near 200k, its 25 years old, it looks like a car a poor person would drive. Time for something newer.

I don't want to go with less power than it has(160hp/180ft-lbs), equal is fine.

I don't want to go with electronic AWD, I like having a mechanical center

I don't want to go with something too big or heavy, I like the size of the car but could go a little smaller, I light the weight too.

I don't want to go with something too new. I am thinking of something maybe 10 years old. Not quite fully depreciated but most of the way there, say in the $6-8k range.

>tl:dr. What can I get for 6-8k, that is around 10 years old and will have AWD, good handling and a 0-60 in around 6-7 seconds.

>inb4 buy a newer subaru
I had a Baja turbo and it was a total shit. As far as I am concerned Subaru stopped making good cars in 2000. Also the community is full of certifiable retards.

So give it a paint job, replace some interior components, detail the fuck out of it. Do you really care about your image so much?

Hey I figured this would be the right board to ask this.

I am going to buy my first car soon and my plan is to buy a shit white car and then invite my friends over, get a bunch of spray paint cans and sharpies or some shit and we can all just fuck up the paint job. Would this work if I just put a clear coat afterwards or what?

>>
I aint in murrica but if i did that in new zealand the cops would probably pull me over every time they see the car, and it would work to a point, spray paint fades fast in the sun so would look like crap after a few months
>>
>>14625363
Wouldn't legal registration be really risky with the whole thing painted? if the car is registered as white and it's painted differently wouldn't that be illegal? im pretty sure it would be OK if the back was still white.

What do you mean "would this work" OP? Will your car look like you and your friends fucked it up? Yes.

Not sure if this is the place to post this, but does anyone have any ideas as to why my truck won't start and stalls when I come to a stop? 1995 GMC k1500, just have no idea how to narrow it down to a diagnosis and can use all the help I can get

More information needed.

-transmission type
-fuel system type

Does it stall on hard braking while in neutral?

Get some speed, throw it in neutral, brake firmly, post results.
>>
4l60e transmission, TBI system, and I'll have to give that a shot tomorrow as its too late where I live
>>
>>14621266
Def post back what you find out after doing that.

Could be a few things.

Go through the vacuum system.
Check that the engine can maintain idle under load while parked (throw on lights, ac, stereo, turn the wheels lock to lock etc).

The engine should increase speed to compensate when doing these things.

If not any of those, move on to the transmission.

Don't know much about the autos in these trucks, but there are a few more connections to the engine systems than on a manual.

Transmission might not be disengaging fast enough when stopping.

When it stalls does it lurch forward like if you stalled a manual? Or just putter out?

Hey guys, I live in Tennessee and am gonna go to one of the Technical College of Applied Technology's near me to sign up for a trade to start in the fall. It is between 2 or 3 things I think. I was thinking about either Welding, Electrician, Hvac, or Automotive Technology. As of right now I have really no skills in either of them, but I like the thought of being an electrician because I think the wiring could be really fun and I do want to make good money and have a secure job. What does /o/ think would be best for me? Thanks so much!

I am currently going to school for electrical engineering. My job is at a theme park and I do a bit of everything. I do electrical work and I weld all the time, not to much with HVAC(we hire HVAC technicians for that) and do small engine work (for the exception of hydraulics and pneumatics) so long story short, welding and electrical work is definitely a lot of fun and dangerous lol. To be proficient at welding, it takes time and lots and lots of practice but work is a plenty. I know of a welder who travels at weeks end and makes a great chunk of change. Was in Hawaii last month and now he is doing work in Maine. Cool if your single

Apologies for the delay. Not had as much time to work on it the past week as I had hoped.

We left the previous thread with Buck revealing that he drives a 4th gen ZR1 Corvette.

**************************

A Corvette? You didn't know much about them, other than they were a well-regarded sports car from America. Would the Silvia provide any competition against it?

Buck sees the glint in your eyes. "I know what you're thinking Arikawa-san. With all respect, no, I won't race you. Yes, I race on the Loop, but the guys I race with... We race for money. Parts. Everything is on a completely different level, the cars are on a different level, the skill is on a different level. The skill especially." Buck sighed. "It's not that I don't want to race you, I'd love nothing more. But I can't help but feel it'd be a repeat of what we just saw last night. Outclassed by so much that you just give up and walk away. If you face me," he said, tapping the table with his finger, "I want it to be because we're deemed equals. And that'll come over time. Don't rush into it. There's a whole other world out there that eats up newbies and spits them out to the side like trash."
"So you're saying to continue racing in the meantime, get myself and the car to a higher standard?" you ask.
Buck nodded. "Yep, absolutely." He glanced over to Nagato, who was clearing plates of a table. "And I think you have some unfinished business to tackle anyway, going from what Nagato-san has been saying." Buck gave you a wink. "She won't shut up about 'that stupid S13'".

That statement elicited a low whistle from Ueda. "A girl is keeping an eye on you, and won't stop talking about you? Sounds promising!" he said, with a giggle from Yokota.

The American did have a point however. You needed to race more.

Buck got up, taking his empty glass with him. "Hey, listen. I'll be at Tatsumi PA tonight, out on the Wangan. Most of the serious Loop racers tend to meet there so they're not constantly paying tolls. If you want, come and check it out."
You thank him as he walks away to some other tables.

"Sounds interesting!" Ueda said. "Are you thinking about checking it out Arikawa-san?"
"I'm not sure. I'd like do, but... Maybe I should spend tonight racing instead?" you reply.
"That could be a good plan," Saito said. "I'm sure I could get some opponents sorted for you. You've pretty much defeated everyone in RELAX Racing though... There's just Ueda-san and Ishizaka-san left."
"Ishizaka-san? He was the one with the Mark V, right?" Ueda asked.
"Correct. Races most weekends. Do you want me to give him a call?"

**************************

Well, /o/? What do you want to do on this fine fictional Saturday evening?

A) Check out Tatsumi PA, where all the heavy hitters hang out
B) Race Ueda
C) Ask Saito to arrange a race for you with Ishizaka [1994 Toyota Mark II Tourer V (JZX90) [White]]
D) Ask what other low-level racing teams there are about.

Is the Ford Focus really much less reliable than the Civic? Civic or Focus for 6k? What else is there or are these pretty much it in price range without getting something 15+ years old?

I don't think it does though. Reliability is worse than civic, maybe on par with Ford. Parts are going to cost more. Less aftermarket (I am not going to rice).

>>14629644

Cincinnati, OH. Honestly, I can drop $15,000 on a car cash and not care too much. I just don't think it's worth it.

I am over my pretend racer days, so I am just trying to get something reliable that isn't ABSOLUTELY boring to drive. Does have to be not embarrassing to park at a bank too. Note "not embarrassing" which isn't "good looking, fancy looking" etc.

New, used car.

My S10 blazer keeps shitting the bed and I'm done with it. I'm looking to buy a newish car. I've done the 4x4 thing a couple times now, I hardly ever engage the 4x4 and they're too slow and heavy. I've done the V8 rwd car now and it's fun but it's a no go in the winter and you can't fit anything in a 2+2 style car.

I can hear you now
>buy a civic
I want a hatchback, manual trans also.

Is a 2012ish Golf with the 2.5 any good? What about the TDI's?

The Fit seems like a responsible choice but I'm not sure about the styling.

Pic not related.

I'm looking to put down about 5k cash and finance maybe 10k. I still haven't gotten my tax return so I'll hopefully pay down another couple grand in a month. Hopefully I'll get a couple grand for my trade in too.

I've had the Blazer about a year and a half now. In that time I've replaced the whole front end, an alternator, the radiator, had the tranny lines bust open on Christmas day leaving me stranded on the way to work. I had a battery cable come loose and ground out on the frame and kill my battery. Currently I think my starter is acting up, just get a click click click when I try.
I'm just so done with this thing and it's embarrassing to have to borrow my girlfriends car every time the Blazer fucks up.

Anons I have a dilemma, I have R300'000.00 to spend on a sportscar and I want something pretty

I was looking at a low mileage 350z (65000 on the clock) which is for sale for 189K so I'd have some money incase shit hits the fan or a Toyota GT86 (I know it's not fast but it's very pretty and I can always engine swap when I need more power) with 15000km on the clock and a full service plan for 230K

What should I buy?
