Guys, I got this problem on my 91 e34 m50, when it's idle with the clucth pressed down the engine runs very unstable, tachomether pointer starts twitching and apparently engine stops. After that I can start that immediately, but the problem is still present.

I lurked a bit and think it may be "crankshaft position sensor" that is problematic, but not sure.

Maybe any ideas on this issue? Thanks inb4

Once that thing fails, the car will not turn over

What you probably have is a vacuum leak, dirty throttle body, or faulty throttle body..
>>
>>14626438
Only when the clutch is in? Not when it's in neutral with the clutch pedal untouched? I'm guessing a vacuum leak to the clutch cylinder assuming it's power assisted.

Who /unreasonably averse to car payments/ here?

I drive a beater. It sucks. I have a good career making respectable money. My mortgage is low.

But $400+ a month for 5 years, even for a fun but reasonable daily driver is just abhorrent to me.

Anyone else allergic to that for reasons other than fiscal responsibility? just preferring the turd in hand to the fun comfy car in the bush?

I have the same problem.
Just seems like such a waste of money for any of these new comfy cars.

Anything worth having new is in a price range that is $400 - 500/mo - and that's before higher insurance rates.

I have two beaters, a winter and summer.
Paying wayyy less than a new car and I have just as much fun. This includes repair costs (plus I buy them broken usually)
>>
I feel the same, for me it's paying a price for something expensive that loses money every year. A new car loses a £1000 the minute you drive it off the forecourt, you never get that back. At least with a house it's value shouldn't go down so much.

I like Reality Kings and a little sparking isn't going to hurt anything you have plugs that do it thousands of times a minute.

These kind of threads are where future shitposters are born. Some 16 year old finds a car board and posts a SICK render of some exotic nobody cares about. He is made fun of and becomes confused, because he is a real car guy, why would people be mean to him? After posting several more times and being ignored or shit on, he starts lurking for awhile, and since he wants to fit in he starts mimicking lap time and cuck this autistic that posts. Literally every poster like that was enthusiastically posting a thread like this months earlier.

I'm about to purchase this 04 subaru forester xt with a manual transmission. The guy is asking 9k but I know I can negotiate 8k with cash in hand. It had 135,867 miles. Is this a good idea to do?

Hey /o/ I have a question for those of you who know about Audi/mechanics

I'm buyin an 04 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro tomorrow. My problem is its a mechanic special. I have the ability to fix the problems myself but don't know enough about them to specifically diagnose the issues. The car is throwing 3 codes, one for the MAF sensor, one for Vehice speed sensor, and the guy said the coil packs need to be replaced (it may be plugs, not sure if its misfiring)

The biggest issue I have is the car is 180 miles south of me and I don't have the option to tow it back (ridiculous towing prices in Fl) but have approx. $410 to get the car back here including gas and whatever work I do in autozone's parking lot. I also have handheld scanner to read OBD2 codes.

So how bad is driving with a bad MAF/unplugged MAF/what else it could be?

Is the VSS going to cause an issue driving 3 hours back/what else it could be?

What about the coils/possibly plugs and if its misfiring/what else it could be?

So what all will I absolutely need to replace tomorrow to get it back without killing the car or screwing up more stuff to fix later? I have about $1k coming in the next two weeks but if I don't get the car tomorrow it'll be sold and I'm not gonna let it go. Towing isnt an option. I don't mind spending 2-300 and working in autozones parking lot but Im not working with much here so hopefully someone with experience in euro turbo engines can chime in

Some more info if it helps:

IT has approx. 175k on it, last known was 166k but the dash went out (speedo, odometer, and the main stuff still work)

its an automatic w/ tiptronic

To my knowledge its all stock with no performance upgrades
>>
It is too far away, not worth the risk. If it was manual it would be a slightly different story. T. ex 2003 A4 B6 2.5 tdi automatic owner

Interior isn't terrible, will be easy to fix. Most of exterior is surface rust.

I have no prior body work experience or mechanic experience.

You got to understand the propeller heads build an autobahn car first and than start looking to foreign markets for guidance. When you are up around 240+ km/h busting through transport truck draft in the left hand lane you will learn to appreciate the extra stability a heavier car gives you.
