My fellow /o/tists,
This board is constantly complaining about modern car 'design', and i am constantly agreeing with you.
But today i present a gift,
>the problem
>middle aged obese white women designing cars
That explains a lot. Especially since Nissan is driven by overweight middle aged women (even if they're 20yo Z fanboys)
>>14605207
It all makes sense now
Imagine if /o/utist's became car designers. We'd be living the dream of modern day 80-00 shitboxes all over again with tasteful modern designs and technology incinerated into them rather then the bubbles we have today that roam the streets
bonjour,
my Father is stocking up on cars at our home in france. i wont get too deep into the details but we're getting a decent collection
one of the cars he wants to get is a 911, but he wants to spend >20,000 euros and its got to be a convertible.
he found a 99' 996 convertible for 20,000 and i found a 84' 964 converibtle for 17,000. i dont have a link to the 996, but hes the 964
http://www.auto.fr/rides/porsche_911/243983/
which is the better pick? keep in mind,
>not a daily
>want somthing fun
>will be complementing other "performance" cars
>dad hates hassle
ive done the forums bit but i always go to /o/
really, no bites
we're also getting a twingo because its france
>>14605182
Go with the 964. Not only is it air cooled, it doesn't suffer from IMS failure like the 996.
>>14605260
merci
Which should I get /o/?
I'm in outside sales and I get a new vehicle every three years. Part of my job is meeting and roping in lots of stupid, dumb, young, pussies for my clients and prospects to fuck, so I need a vehicle that I can round up bitches in.
I'm thinking of either the Discovery Sport or the Wrangler Unlimited Backcountry Edition, both in black. (Fuck that new Jeep purple is godawful).
I don't give a shit about reliability, gas mileage, or any of that hippie shit.
My customers are all white and prefer white women and occasionally asian or latino bitches if that helps. The vehicle helps me pick them up, and then usually later if they did a good job they get some 'shopping money', if you know what I mean.
OP pic is the new Backcountry Edition. I like it because it looks tough right off without having to upgrade it.
Here is the Discovery Sport...I think anything made by Land Rover looks much better in black.
>>14604807
>>14604811
You fucking manlet, you can't pick up women regardless of your car.
Get a Range Rover or Q5, or if you really have no price limits get a Raprtor, you're looking for a mall crawler face it.
>>14604825
What makes you think I'm a manlet? I'm over 6'. But seriously my clients want to be entertained, and by that, they want pussies riding on their sticks.
Most of my job is about rounding up sluts, going to dinner, and booking hotel rooms for my prospects.
Why do you fucking autists think everyone works at Gamestop or Autozone for minimum wage?
Fucking whiny poorfags here.
This van is making me feel things I never thought I'd feel for a van
4wd also - imagine one of these with a cosworth powerplant
100 of them being made
Underpowered at 115hp though
>RWD
>V6
>Manual comes standard
>Good power-to-weight ratio
>Can be had for under $10k
Is there a catch to these things? Because they look really good on paper.
>>14603345
>Chrysler
There's your first problem.
>Mercedes
Shit icing on the shitcake.
>>14603345
>V6
>slow as fucc
Sounds like a good idea OP go for it!1
>>14603345
Peugeot 406 was all the above.
rwd, v6, manual, good watts/kg and <10k now.
Hi /o/
Looking to buy a car as a student in Europe. I don't have a huge budget (mainly because the insurance is expensive af)
I'm looking for a larger-ish car that can handle highways well but with an engine around 1.8-2L, no bigger (insurance).
I love riding my bicycle so a car wouldn't be something I'd only use for commuting. It will mainly be so I can visit around, make some trips, maybe even go home with it or visit relatives around the EU, go skiing etc. I'm also not looking for a car to last me 10 years. I am good with tools, electronics, etc but I don't have any experience specifically related to cars. I'm prepared to fix some minor things about the car (I'll probably do that no matter what) but I don't want to disassemble the whole engine. I'm fine with manual but if automatic were an option I'd prefer that if it comes into discussion.
So far the characteristics I've been looking for were that the car isn't older than 2005 and doesn't go over 200k km. Of course I would be extremely happy to hear your opinion on this.
These are some cars I've looked at so far:
Peugeot 407-
I know this car because my parents have one. I know it has flaws but it's also very comfortable and handles highways decently. I'm a tall guy and I need a longer car to enable me to feel comfortable at the wheel.
Mazda 6 -
Similar car, similar price from what I've seen. Don't know anything else about it.
Audi A4 - more expensive but it's an option
VW Passat - same as the Audi
Citroen C5 - it's also a car.
I've also looked at some merc's c- and e-klasse that are a bit more expensive and with more than 200k km but the insurance is much pricier for those.
So, /o/, I'd be extremely grateful for your expertise on this. Nothing I said is set in stone as long as you have some very good arguments. Please let me know what you think or at least if you could give me some guidelines to be careful of: how old is too old, how many km are too many etc. Thank you.
>>14603064
Get a dacia
>>14603064
twingo
or vectra c after lifting
>>14603155
vectra looks alright, but it's surprisingly pricey if it's from this millenia, esp. if it's from after 2005. Will keep it in mind though.
Why is the Audi A4 Quadro cheap?
Iv been looking for a car to get
And compared to the cars i want
>S2000
>S13
>Supra
>R32
The Quattro is even cheaper than the e30
The ones im looking at are in CLean condition as well
Km's between 175-205 k's
So why these cars cheap ? 5-6 k for them in clean condition ? .
should i get one
>>14602451
>Why is the Audi A4 Quadro cheap?
because old Audis break down every 20 feet.
>>14602451
Shit reliability/expensive to run
All the other cars you listed will be more reliable and more enjoyable to drive and nobody gives a crap about a worn out German econobox.
So how much would I be looking at /o/, is it too late to find one without paying a huge cult tax.
its too late to find one that isn't half iron oxide
>rockers
>door hinges (where they bolt into the chassis)
>inside fender specifically welds connecting inner fender to wheel well)
they're fun cars but good luck finding one.
the ones that were out there got junked 5-10 years ago from either rust, spun bearings, or bad transmissions (5th gear popout). and if you're gonna pay anything close to $4-5k you might as well get a pulsar gti-r which is the better version
don't want to be a party pooper but those cars fold like literal paper.
not sure if even bikes are safer.
Only example I could find was $7500 without stock rims or intake. I guessed a 2,300 pound car would be destroyed by an SUV. Taking alternatives of that Era.
Hey /o/
I'm in the market for a new car and I'm looking at either an '06 WRX STi or an '11 WRX STi. I like the aesthetics of the '06 better, but the 11' is also 5 years newer.
Thoughts?
>inb4 subiefag
I have a 13' wrx hatch and I definitely suggest it. But I do agree that the hawkeye looks better. You might face some reliability issues though with it being a 10 year old car.
Good luck finding a clean used boosted subaru.
My female life companion is saying that our Civic is getting ratty. She asked me what car we should get next. There was a WRX turning right next to the car as she said this, so I pointed at it and said that we will get that one in blue. It has four doors and can fit my future sons.
Should I wait for the STI to get that new engine? There's no point in getting these shits used.
Looking at this southern driven 2006 4runner with 142k on the odo. I'm offering $10.5k, is that an okay deal? The only negative is that it doesn't have a sunroof. Gonna lift it and put some better tires on.
fuck paying toyota tax.
buy an xterra.
>>14601793
Fuck that.
>>14601931
ok nigger. you can get a decent xterra for a few grand less than a 4runner. you can dump that money saved into lift and tires.
Im looking to get a radar dector
Do they work, what are some good ones
>>14601608
Situational awareness faggot. If you drive the same route every day you learn where they sit so slow down.
>>14601608
>Do they work,
If you understand how they are designed to be used, and buy a decent one, then yes
>what are some good ones
Any of the higher end Escort models (Max/Max2/9500ix)
>>14601608
I had some Escort one or some shit a few years back. It was kinda nice except for the random X band or whatever that always went off by shopping centers.
Cop radars normally use the Ka band so it was easy to tell. Even if they aren't radaring, it would still go off a lot if they were nearby. Didn't tell fhe direction, but had a strength from 1-5 so once you got up to 3 bars, it was time to hit the brakes. Laser detector worked well too but it was too late once they had the radar on you. Also worked for speeding cameras and stuff.
Also had a detector for ambulances and firetrucks which was cool so even if the radio was up loud, you could still tell if an ambulance was coming.
Valentine are some good ones, Escort and Cobras are decent I think. What is the Passport? I think that is a model name from somebody that is good. Don't totally cheap out, but you don't have to go balls out. And if the cops in your area mostly use laser, they are almost useless.
Can we get a rekt thread going?
Cars, trucks and motorcycles welcome.

>>14601145
I know the logistical shit already
Anyone have advice on how to find my cars cornering limits while I'm driving on unfamiliar roads? When I fly into a corner I feel like I understeer like crazy because I'm using the brakes but I feel like I'm going too fast if I don't use the brakes. I drive a midengine RWD platform with a slightly staggered tire setup. Running Michelin pilot super sports. I did notice that on lesser tires I hear them screaming when im hitting the limits but I never hear the PSS make any sound.... does this mean I'm not hitting the limit or do they just not making noise under heavy steering?
Take it past the limits on a nice safe track then you'll know where they are.
>>14601072
I would love to do that.... but there is no track near me... plus it's kind of expensive. I'll try to do that though...
What kind of car is it?
Anyway, if you're buying supersports for it then you can afford to go to the track.
The alternative is you go into weight shift oversteer in a rear weight biased car with no prior experience to fighting it, with the speed you break loose amplified by the greater grip limits of top-end performance street tires.
This means you'll be dead and then you'll never find the cornering limits.
The last MR car I had was a CaymanS, and while it's far more forgiving than most MR cars it would still bite you on the track if you were an idiot with it.
