Subway trains bypassed the busy area and traffic was shut down during an operation that involved dozens of officers and a counterterrorism robot.

>Three children between 5 and 7 years old were left in the scorching Mojave Desert without shoes or water Wednesday as punishment by their parents, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

>The 7-year-old girl and her little brothers, ages 5 and 6, were found in Twentynine Palms on Wednesday. They were spotted by a passerby near the 74000 block of Samarkand Drive, a residential road at the edge of a patch of vacant, dirt- and brush-covered land that’s the size of three city blocks.

>Authorities said the children were found about 11:20 a.m. when the heat would have reached about 100 degrees, said Todd Lericos, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

>They were left outside by their mother, Mary Bell, 34, and her boyfriend, Gary Cassle, 29, authorities said. The parents and children live in a car that was down the road from where the youths were left, sheriff’s department spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said.

>The kids had been outside for about 45 minutes before they were found, Bachman said. They didn’t require medical attention and were placed in the care of county family services, she said.

>The young and old are particularly vulnerable to effects of long-term exposure to heat, Lericos said. The children were found before temperatures topped out at 104 degrees in the Morongo Basin, he said.

Meet Rahma Haruna — the teenage girl who’s forced to live her life in a plastic bucket after losing the ability to use her arms and legs.
“I’ve spent 15 years searching for the cure,” her father, Hussaini, told Barcroft.

The 19-year-old had been born perfectly healthy in the village of Lahadin Makole, close to the Nigerian city of Kano, before doctors noticed she had mysteriously stopped hitting key developmental milestones as an infant.

“From six months when she learned how to sit, that was when it began,” explained her mother, Fadi. “She started with a fever and that was it. Then stomach pains. Then her body parts like hands and legs…She didn’t learn how to crawl.”

Her family spent thousands on experts and treatments in the attempt to fix what was wrong with her, but to no avail.

“I sold almost everything in my possession,” Hussaini said. “I farm, go to the market and lots more looking for money to pay for her bills. Only God knows the real amount of what I had spent.”

But while doctors have been baffled about Haruna’s condition, she’s been looking on the bright side of things.

“I thank God in everything I do,” she said. “I want to start a business. A grocery store and anything people buy, that is what I want.”

With help from her 10-year-old brother, Fahad — and the rest of her family — Haruna spends her days in Kano begging for spare change and other donations.

She can barely move a muscle and is confined to a tiny bucket no bigger than a crock pot.

“They help me a lot,” Haruna said, describing her loved ones. “How do they? They give me anything I need.”

In addition to carrying her around, Haruna’s family helps her eat, wash up and even gossip with cousins.

>A handmade, wooden sign apparently targeting Hispanics and espousing support for Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump was discovered in Haddon Township Thursday morning and reported to police.

>Haddon Township resident Dan Angelucci said he discovered the sign around 7 a.m. Thursday while walking his dog in the area of South Atlantic and French Avenues. It reads “Mexicans go back were u b long / get out wetbacks / Donald Trump.”

>Angelucci said he stifled an impulse to destroy the sign on sight, and instead reported it to police, who he said removed the sign shortly thereafter. Haddon Township Police Chief Mark Cavallo said early Thursday that he was aware of the report, but declined comment pending the investigation.
