Childhood is loving nu-metal and seeing no flaws in it
Teenagehood is thinking you're "above it"
Adulthood is realizing how great it was despite it's flaws
Nu-metal was the nadir of late 20th century American youth culture.
I can't think of many genres or movements in music that are entirely irredeemable, but nu-metal is definitely one of them.
teenagehood is growing out of metal
adulthood is never thinking about metal

this
Why is smooth jazz not as well regarded as free jazz? I was rewatching Taxi Driver and I forgot how much I loved the smooth jazz interlude between scenes.
Why is 1900-1930s jazz not as well regarded as every derivative genre that followed?
It's clearly superior

Are you joking? Because I actually think that's somewhat true.

Not at all. Some early jazz bands had imaginative orchestration and an intoxicating rhythm.
Loosening the structure and dragging the lines too far transformed the genre into a meme
>tfw someone acts like some music is objectively better than other music.
Musical quality is objective. Art is an objective form, and those who opposes the objectivity of art are those who don't have the intelligence to understand it. An example of this is food, or the culinary arts. Certain food taste shit, while other types of food tastes really delicious. One person can easily tell the difference between a poorly made dish and a very excellently made dish, as the poorly made dish occupies a disgusting, revolting aesthetic with also a taste that, instead of providing a desirable taste, produces a taste that degrades the tongue with its very poor quality; the well made dish to a person has a very beautiful aesthetic, whilst also having a very desirable taste to the tongue. This spectrum of shit and good is evident in music quality, as shit music (pop, rap) and good music (classical, rock) has a great difference in quality; shit music has little to no structure and musical complexity and aesthetic while good music has the properties of beautiful sonic aesthetic and masterfully made song structure. Music is objective.

Maybe it's because they've always been a silly, pseudo-comedy group but I don't think they get the respect they deserve.
When Paul McCartney says you could out sing the Beatles any day then you'd think people would listen to more than the Big Bang theme.

What kind of shirt/jacket is Bowie wearing here? I wanted to be Blackstar Bowie for Halloween this year but I'm having trouble finding the outfit.

Wouldn't quite say AOTY, but it's fun as hell and genuinely impressive in some spots. That song with Erykah is great
