Why do you think hip hop rose to prominence in America and not dance music?
Vocals to sing along to answer angst.
Americans are always so Danny angry; nu-metal, grunge, brostep...
Dancing was invented by the devil, you should know this after watching the Oscar wining movie footloose.

Hip hop began with breakdancing.
ITT: albums you can't tell if you like a lot or think are complete garbage
everything i make desu
It all sounds like one track and that one track is revolting yet fascinating to listen to
This album just clicked.
holy shit, its so emotional. I was never a fan of the whole 4chord song structure but it all came together for me. Anything else out there with this kind of depth?

>Anything else out there with this kind of depth?
Turn on your local top 40 station, I guess. I'm sure it won't take long.

ITT: The death that would shake you to the core
If he dies, I simply do not want to live anymore
Any remaining member of Zepellin. Be a sad day indeed.

Seems only fair, doesn't it?

Start a trad thread and I will be on board.
Til then, sod off.
>these threads are for gospel, rhythm & blues, funk, modern funk, deep funk, Norther funk, soul, Northern soul, neo-soul, blue-eyed soul, PBR&B, disco, nu disco, black or white, old or new, just anything groovy not already covered on the board.
What have you been spinning lately?
>>70694726
We don't get enough threads about this kind of music unfortunately. Probably my favourite music out there.
Spinning the J.B.s lately

the 10 minute third song is awesome. that improv jam at the end is great
You know what I just fucking realized?
Starting a business and having some success is WAY easier than forming a rock band and having some success.
Seriously, have you ever stopped to think about this? Forming a fucking rock band and becoming successful is even HARDER than starting a successful business
whoa
damn

Electric guitar music > other forms of music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHJ3jhg-pdg
I believe this is from an interview where he was saying how he's a big fan of the radioheads
Circle = Stuff panned center
Triangle = Stuff panned left
Square = Stuff panned right
Volume and amount of panning not represented but manageable.
Open Audacity, open a modern, professionally mixed track, split to mono and invert one of the tracks that results. Playing them together results in everything panned center going away. Often this leaves you with just a single instrument, ripe for sampling. Other interesting effects happen as well.
If you solve the problem in the image, you can end up with just the stuff in the center, usually acapellas sit there and it's not exactly uncommon to have the voice be the only thing dead center.
>>70694222
doesnt seem too hard but it requires 'copy and pasting' the original piles to use later, which can be done with audio obviously.
is there a simpler way to solve this though? kinda interested
I'm not sure if I understand the problem correctly, but I feel like all you want to do is just to use a stereo to mid-side processing tool and keep either the mid or the side part.
You can also get the side part by the inverting the phase of one channel and then adding the two channels into a mono track.
>>70694222
So how do you solve this?
>"this album changed my life!"
>>70694033
>I have no genuine emotions of my own so let me trivialize those of others
The hyperbole some people use to describe albums is astounding. It's not merely enough to think a piece of music is really really good anymore, it has to be some transcendental life changing experience. Every damn story is exactly the bloody same.
Well, fuck you guys. My favourite album is my favourite simply because I think it's the best.
imagine having such an unremarkable life to the point where an album could have a significant effect on it
Really makes me wonder how big a failure someone can be
This...
https://youtu.be/mnAH3JdlKKE?t=5m41s
...sounds just like this...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCmjrhv3Gts
Holy kek. So, Can make complete trash like that and be praised by you guys, while someone else can make the same """music""" and only be derided as a joke. I bet it's all just because it's cool to like Can, huh?
Explain yourselves, /mu/tants.
Most people only pretend to like Can. Like shit, did you see how few people even mourned Jaki's death a few days back? Just one decent 300 post topic, and then the rest didn't even get above 20 posts. Nothing sticky worthy. Can's usually a band people only like for fashion.
Not to mention that the few people that do legitimately enjoy Can and krautrock here rarely ever think Tago Mago's all that great.
It's got shit production throughout.
Damo's not as cool crazy as he is on the other records, kinda tame usually with moments of just making goofy sounds.
The first half is full of weak ass jams (compared to jam bands, fusion bands, even other krautrock bands from that time period who were all far better musicians so they had more varied jams.)
The second half is a shit attempt at putting together musique concrete and free jazz.
It's also got overall the weakest drumming from Jaki when it comes to Can's work.
Peking O builds up to the freak out versus Hello Kitty Suicide Club which just kinda throws you in. The accessibility of the first half of Peking O makes the last half of it much more tense and disorienting. IMO if an avant garde piece of music is able to give me an emotional reaction that isn't just "meh" then it does its job well.
>>70693916
listen to the rest of their you pleb. the stockhausen-esque ending of tago mago is pretty weird, but even if you can't appreciate that, the rest of their stuff is kickass jamming prog rock.
you're shitting on them for one weird left turn they took on one of their albums
