Hey guys, I'm haven't a very hard time finding an album that I can't remember the title of, or who made it. I think I remember the album name had an exclamation point in it, and the cover was different shapes with faces that kind of looked like rocks. I remember it was math rocky, more on the hardcore side, I'm pretty sure there were vocals too. It had a pink background on the album cover too I think. It was pretty popular here a bit ago. They also had a music video that made it seem they were a girl band, but I don't think that they were. Appreciate the help and time, thanks, /mu/

I could write pages about it...for example her chord progression is very chromatic and grows like a plant, unpredictable and growing in all different directions (as you all know, she tuned her guitar strings very differently than others)...not the white Christian male c-g-f rock, boy-scout chords that are clean and square and deny the existence of nature. And there is no space to even go into her lyrics here, which are heavyweight literature, especially in the context of popular music.

And as I grow older I am forced to admit a very, very sad truth (something I promised I would never do, but...) : we are living in a rock white male world and because of this Joni is being ignored while someone like Bob Dylan for instance has become a saint."

I'm a classical pianist but I've been working on my musical diversity ever since started playing with this new group (we play kinda nujabes style music, just simple 3-4 chord groovy chilled out stuff focused on beat). So I'm learning drums, bass and guitar and even some singing(don't have the range to do much here though) just to get out of my comfort zone, and I'm learning pretty fast since lots of knowledge from piano carries over, but I don't know how to get into rapping at all. It feels extremely awkward rapping to myself. Do I just rap some songs by other people or should I be writing down my own stuff and doing that? If I should rap existing songs, which ones would be good to start out, is there something like "beginner rap songs"? Should I practice improvisation straight away or not(tried it and it did not work at all)? Do I rap songs over and over or are there some drills or something? On instruments and even in singing I can do drills, paradiddles on drums, scales on piano/guitar/bass etc., don't know about anything like that in rap.
