Ugggh, what did Christgau see in this atonal mess? Especially painful are Carrie Brownstein's vocals which sound like some unholy mix of Ann Wilson and Alanis Morrissette. The songs are all exactly the same as well with absolutely no variance in sound or song structure.
Past the sub-par production and unnecessarily lengthy songs this is a pretty tight album. It's raw and angry, and captures that boiling rage so well.
0.8/10.
>"It does a good job of creating an angsty raw sound and precisely nothing else"
Check out pic related. Thank me later.

This is pretty obviously the most important/quality experimental pop record from 1995+. Saying otherwise is just contrarian.

How many of you guys who think metal is bad have even tried metal? You should at least give it a good try before you write it off, there are some great bands it has to offer. Come in here if you want some good entry-level recommendations.
I think they have tried it it's just the entry level stuff that is off putting
a lot of genre hate in this board is ironic or bait.
The only metal that matters is Black Sabbath, everything else is an imitation or a parody.
wow cant believe people take this guy seriously
because he has the sensibilities of a white 14 year old "i only like real rap" retard
>>72130194
Because on his main channel he is usually serious, while on his joke channel he's silly, what's not to get?
His opinion on music hold more weight then any single person, stay mad fag
>>72130194
he actually named him one of the worst rappers of all time on his podcast
>everything decent is more than 200 dollars
>have to carry a bunch of heavy shit
>having to carry a bunch of heavy shit downstairs
>having to carry a bunch of heavy shit back upstairs
>having to carry a bunch of heavy shit to every show
>having to carry a bunch of heavy shit to ever studio session
>have to spend 20 minutes setting up at a show while your bandm mates play that one riff they always play asking you if you are ready yet
>some gigs demand you use the provided set which you aren't used to and no one has changed the heads in 20 years
>never come out in any of the band pictures
>no one respects your equipment
>everyone always tells you to be quiet during downtime in the studio
>cops always get called on you
>drums will only sound good if the acoustics of the room are good
>drums will only sound great if they are mic'd up
>drums will only sound awesome if they are mixed well by whoever has them mic'd up
>tuning is fucking gay bullshit
>no one respects the struggle except other drummers
>literally every single other musician on the planet has it easier
GOD WHY THE FUCK DID I FALL IN LOVE WITH SUCH A PIECE OF SHIT FUCKING INSTRUMENT?????
>>72130176
Keyboardist here, I halfway feel your pain. Good gear is expensive as all get out and heavy and troublesome to set up (the Nord Stage is light but it sucks)
But for what it's worth rhythm section guys are the real bros, I respect you more than some dime a dozen guitarist
>>72130253
You don't even understand how expensive it is a good keyboard $300 easily a good cymbal is the same price if I want a full kit that alone is easily $100 a drum so a cheap kit is easily $500 dollars to purchase all the cymbals to have a decent range (including a hi-hat, china, 2 crashes, a splash, and a ride - crash and Ride being mandatory) is easily $1200. Add the 500 for the kit and that's $1700 for a decent set up then it would be safe to assume the heads are shit so you'll need $25 a head for each drum so that's $125 easily. So the grand total is $1875 adding $50 for a bass drum pedal. Then you have to tune that shit which is bull shit.
>tfw the guitarist says you should retune your drums for the key of the song.
>FUCK YOU YA CUNT!!!
>>72130726
Bare minimum for a good keyboard is 500 USD, and all that'll get you is good keys and a decent piano patch. A proper stage piano is 2 grand minimum.
/mu/ isn't big on Drake, but I want to talk about this.
I understand the exposure this presents smaller artists with, and the songs aren't necessarily unpleasant on the ears. I actually really like Gyalchester and Portland and Blem, and all that. Actually, I can't think of a song that I distinctly dislike. But, I don't like this album.
This whole project, it's not trash, but it feels trashy and I can't quite place why. Something feels off and it makes me view the project as a whole in a negative light even though I can't isolate any specifically bad tracks.
>>72130154
I think he'll have more chunes for your headtop so watch how you speak on his name, ya know?
>>72130154
you just did desu, Portland and Blem are fucking trash
i havent listened to it but i agree. Drake peaked with If Youre Reading This. Views and his recent features have been real lame. Drakes always been corny but recently hes just felt really inauthentic, even in his corniness
this album is good and you can't prove me wrong.
