What's the correct way to come to a stop? Whenever possible. when I see the light, I start downshifting/rev matching through each gear until I get to second. I brake until I'm almost stopped and depress the clutch. I try to stay moving as much as possible because sometimes the light changes and traffic gets moving again so I don't want to waste time coming to a stop and taking off in 1st gear. I also find that when I downshift I don't need to brake as hard and I actually have more control since instead of coasting and braking, a lot of the time I'm still applying the gas to keep the car moving in the lower gear.

The reason why I ask is because I've been a passenger with another driver who upshifted through all the gears and then when he would come to a stop, he'd just pop it in neutral and brake. Now, I'm not a particularly good driver and I'm actually pretty new to this, but this guy's ride was pretty bumpy compared to mine. What I noticed was that this guy also coasted in neutral while turning.

As you've probably guessed, I am in a country where manual is uncommon (Canada) so most people drive automatic. That's why I am asking about what the "proper" method is that is taught by driving instructors in the rest of the world. And also I am wondering what most people do.

I know this one has been beat to death, but can anybody explain the rationale behind why GM continues to make shit and some people are too brain dead to care?

Literally people that I know are making their lives more difficult because they're stuck in a cycle of buying GM and Chrysler vehicles to replace their last busted GM or Chrysler no matter how I try to help convince them that it's not a problem with late-model cars, it's a Chrysler/GM problem.

I've gotten to the point that I recently bought a Mercury to lend/sell to them before they go off on another folly.

But no... not a chance they'd even drive it. Here I can buy an '04 Mercury that so far (probably last 3,500 miles) hasn't showed a sign of ANY issue what-so-ever, even if I try to nitpick which I do when it comes to cars. I paid $3,000 for this car and they're in the market to spend around the same amount for a shitty 2002 Buick or spend $4,500 on a FUCKING 80'S CAMARO!

They give me all kinds of shit about having late model cars. "Oh your sensors, SENSORS BLAAAAAAGH" "Plastic CRAP" Meanwhile their other Camaro has ABS bumpers and ground effects as well as fake hood louvres...

They own 5 GM vehicles and two Chrysler. Of those, only two are on the road. Of those, both need serious repairs and have glitchy gauges/switches.

In the time I've known them, I've owned five Fords, none of which have EVER presented any issues along the lines of what they experience nor that they SAY I will experience. (Sensors!) Yet they still refuse to even try the car I bought for them to beat on.

Are GM, Chrysler and Harley people Neanderthals? They seem to latch onto the dumbest reasons to support something. It's as asinine and immature as a kid claiming flame jobs make the car go FAST!

Who else has experienced this kind of cognitive dissonance?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

After many months of re-creating the netcode from near scratch (and the technical assistance from fellow /m/en of UCGO server), I am pleased to announce the launch of the SDGO New Era Server! We will be launching a closed server beta test in the near future. This will be a week-long beta to test the viability of a long term private server.

Those interested in joining the closed beta test, please leave your username below to reserve a spot. We have a limited number of spots, and would prefer those who played the game previously. Screenshots of your old hangars would back your claim. Those interested in potentially being an in-game moderator for the event, please leave a sentence in a post indicating your interest, and any experience you may have moderating or familiarity with SDGO.

Also, we are looking for a dedicated "Infastructure engineer" to help us with long-term issues for this game.
This would be a part-time volunteer position, but are hoping for a passionate individual with the follow skills:

∙ General knowledge of different network solutions and technology (DNS, DHCP, Firewall, Load Balancer, VPN, L2/L3 Routing)
∙ Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell)
∙ Knowledge of configuration management tools (Chef, Salt Stack, DSC)
∙ Knowledge of different database systems (SQL, NoSQL)
∙ Knowledgeable in scalability techniques beyond simple master-slave

EXTREME Bonus points if you have the following:

∙ Knowledge of different storage solution and technology (NAS, SAN, IP-SAN, Storage virtualization, backup, DR)
∙ Knowledge of different server solution and technology (X86, Blade, Rack, Tower, Dell, HP, IBM)
