Rainbow Dash isn't yet a full-time Wonderbolt, and may end up never quite filling the role the way ponies like Spitfire do, but that won't stop her from flying with them as she's called to duty. She's just got so much loyalty for her friends in Ponyville, and she's still the lead of the town's weather team. It's a responsibility she can usually take at her own pace (relaxed with burst of activity, usually), and leaves her plenty of freedom to get in stunt practice and odd jobs.

The other Wonderbolts seem to have their own non-show work and hobbies, too, though often in official capacities, if that's what wearing the uniform means. Racing, celebrity appearances, first response teams - they've got a range of their own, so Dash's schedule isn't completely at odds with tradition.
