Summary:
You were Mango, a Batpony from a small town near Las Pegasus turned vampire by Fierce Fang. After deciding against joining the older and obviously amoral vampire Mango fled both him and a bounty in Las Pegasus caused by her feeding habits. She's on her way to Ponyville, where there are supposedly no Vampires to compete with.
But after divulging her Vampire status to Zecora, the Zebra snitched to Twilight who confronted Mango in the Castle of the Two Sisters.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, Mango seems to be tentatively going along with Twilight's plan to send her to infiltrate a group of vampires in Canterlot.
Despite Twilight giving her a rather raw deal, Mango agrees to help, but not before negotiating for better treatment and learning about an Adventuring guild in town.
After some adventures and narrow victories with the ponyville guild, you took a train to Canterlot where you attended a meeting for the Vampires there.
They decide to hold another meeting in two nights, and you go with one, June Bug, for some 'errands'
After doing some corporate counter espionage and feeding Mango got a new power, but hasn't had a chance to try it out yet.

Two years ago, a funny image about an alicorned AJ spawned a series of jokes about Princess Applejack trying to fix a mismanaged Equestria for the better by humorously interacting with the other, quite lazy, princesses. From there, the stories connected, they became something much bigger, and now we're two years into one long, solid, wild ride of a story.
The whole thing was set in motion by this gem:

>When the Crystal Empire returned after centuries of slumber, it brought with it more then just the resurgence of its populace. One by one, the lost technologies of the Crystal Empire were re-discovered, and the magic-manipulating properties of the crystals soon spread across Equestria. It wasn't long until almost every household used crystal-technology in some shape or form, whether to bake a cake, repair a broken pipe, or just listening to music.
>The greatest of these innovations were the airships, allowing the ponies to fly higher and farther than ever before. And these airships quickly proved invaluable as a new crystal trade sprang up across the world. In every direction, ponies would explore further and further into the unknown, fueled by their new technology and the drive to find new fortunes. The crystal trade made for many a new rich ponies, but with this new prosperity came greed.

>Piracy soon began to run rampant with raiders hitting trade routes across the land. Airships, while powerful and versatile, weren't exactly fast and the vast stretches between cities left trade ships vulnerable to attack. Always the important question - WHO are you? Time to choose a name, race, gender, and your general appearance.
Earth Pony - you can't fly, but earth ponies are always tough and dependable.
Pegasus - between the flight, the cloud-walk, and keen sense of navigation, you're a shoe-in for any airship.
Unicorn - considering how much magic-tech is used in running an airship, unicorns are a must for any crew.
Gryphon - nothing matches the ferocity and tenacity of a gryphon. Ponies might be a bit wary of you though.
Crystal Pony - like normal ponies, but shinier!
Minotaur - you're no monster, but that doesn't mean everypony won't be nervous when they're around you.

After reuniting with her father, and meeting Alga, Pearl and several other natives, they try to find a wait back to Equestria
They also meet Spume, leader of a resistance movement aiming at bring the tyrants down
And with their help, they attack the Rostrum and to end the tyranny of the Wind Lords
The attack is a success, and the last Wind Lord is successfully captured
But not everything went well
Abyss, a dark spirit of the depth, aimed at killing the Wind Lords to get freedom from him prison
And when that goal escaped his grasp he decided to use his eldritch magic to merge his spirit with the one of Gem Stone
The result was the two of them becoming a strange hybrid
Everyone is confused and scared by the situation, especially Gem herself despite her now considerable power
At least the barrier separating the islands from the rest of the word was easily taken down
But now, Gem has to find a suitable ending for both the pony and the spirit inside her, and not let her darker emotions get the best of her
After spending the night with her dragon friend, the day has come for the two Wind Lord to face their trial in front of the people
Right now, though, there’s still some work to do convince the folk of the Archipelago of the masquerade that happened for generations
Last time, Gem was accompanying people from Coto who wished to see for themselves the mansion of their master is now empty
