I just watched all of Megazone 23 the other day, and I have to say part 1 was one of the greatest things I've ever seen. The arstyle, the music, the action, the characters, It had everything - I can definitely see why It's so well regarded.
However, I think part 2 what on everything that made it good. The very definition of an unnecessary sequel, all of the inspiration just seems to have been abandoned. It's hard to get across just how disappointed I was.
So I guess Megazone thread - and can anyone explain why part 2 was So lackluster?
>>12462878
Part 1 was ok, But it's way too dated. It's basically Flashdance meets Streets of Fire. It just doesn't work that well these days.
Eh, I think part 2 is fun. I really liked its punk style. Always wanted to see more biker gang violence from Akira. Part 1 is okay but it really feels like a part of canceled TV series, nothing gets resolved and it just kinda ends. Part 3 is plain boring.
I don't think Megazone is very good for the most part. I certainly do like it and actually find the lack of cohesion and presence of three distinct creative voices fascinating but overall it's not a very good series. Part 1's got my vote for favorite installment but Part 2 gets points for at least managing to give the story a conclusive and satisfying ending (Part 1's fatal flaw).
So is the Millennium Falcon actually a good ship or not? I'm a pretty casual Star Wars fan, who keeps mostly to the six films so I don't know. Luke seemed unimpressed with it at first. But Han says it's really fast. I never got that. Does he mean it's standard flying speed? That doesn't seem that much better than other ships. Or does he mean the hyper drive is faster than the others? It does break down a lot.
Isn't it supposed to be unremarkable though? Han is supposed to be a rather random smuggler after all. But then we see it in combat and it rather easily is able to destroy several TIE fighters. What would the explanation in universe be for the ship being so good?
I'm just wondering because it's in the new trailer. I guess that means it's a great ship? I know it's there for fan pandering, and because it's unlikely they'd come up with an original design that'd be better than it. Are we really supposed to believe they'd be flying the same ship? I would have maybe liked it more if they made, say Millennium Falcon mk II or something.
It was suppose to be a piece of shit. The script had it that Han was lying and talking out his ass, but the Falcon become so popular that they decided it was a good ship.
She's a pile of junk when she doesn't cooperate, but the extent of her modifications means that when she's functional, she lives up to Han's boasts and then some.
>>12457107
Its actually a pretty fucking good ship. The problem is its extensively modified and as such rather temperamental. The Falcon's hyperdrive is genuinely the fastest or one of the the fastest in the galaxy, and it packs some heavy ordinance , those cannons it packs aren't actually allowed on civilian freighters
So how does /m/ feel about stomping around in 10 foot tall suits of power armor through dark, clausterphobic hallways of a derelict collection of fused spaceships fight eight foot tall aliens that can tear through the strongest metals like cardboard?

(Yeah, the music sucks, I know...)
Made by the E.Y.E. devs and according to them, these trailers were all made with in-game assets.

But really? Space Hulk again? I'm glad we're at least getting something, but they should really lay off SH for a while since it recently got two games.
>>12459775
I actually like the music thematically; it fits the whole 'last stand' feeling they were going for with the trailer. But yeah, it doesn't really fit for a 40k game. But anyways this does look pretty cool. Between this and the Battlefleet Gothic game coming out in a while (http://www.battlefleetgothic-armada.com/), 40k seems to be doing well lately.

And besides, why aren't you watching the show of the year?

Because it advertised itself as properly animated then turned out to be Inferno Cop but saturated.

Yes, but they're not particularly smart.
>>12460875
Why should we?
How does /m/ feel about lewd shots and fanservice in mecha anime? I'm alright with most of it, but in some cases like Mazinkaiser it feels like it starts to get in the way of the show.
Context is a pretty big factor here.
How overt is the fanservice? What's the tone of the scene supposed to be? Is the fanservice the focus of the scene or a bonus?
Cause depending what the context it can make or destroy a scene.
As long as it's just a "Hey, check out this sexy character" thing and not a "check out this sweet anime titty, fellow deviants" thing, then I don't mind.
Personally, for me at least, a lot of the time it's like putting an unneccesary romance plot in an action film. I'm not here to see panty shots or sex scenes, I'm here to watch robot action and military sci-fi and junk.
That said, I do get a chuckle from it every now and again.

Yes. We had some threads about it, including an artbook image dump

Good, I just recently picked it up and am liking it so far. The anime follows the game it seems pretty much.
Hey there. I'm back. I'll be scanning more Area 88 sometime soon, so here's a thread. This next batch is the last of the original Viz comic run, before it moved to Animerica for a couple of years.

Hey Otaking.

>>12458835
What the fuck are you talking about? Those are all forms of shading.
Hey guys, so this has been bugging me since G-Reco started airing, maybe drawfags can clue me in on this a bit. The digital animation process on G-Reco is really interesting, but I have no idea if this is a brand new system Sunrise played with for G-Reco, or if it's a style they were always able to do, and Tomino simply pushed for it.
Three things I've noticed with G-Reco: These odd "textures" in the blacks, almost like the ink of an outline breaking up. This is very obvious in shots like the ED here, though interestingly it clears up when the shading moves.
>>12459098
The second thing I've noticed was this almost brush-like texture to the mecha coloration. It doesn't seem to ever affect human colors, only mecha. Unfortunately, the TV rips make this very difficult to judge, and I haven't bothered to grab BDs yet.
the entire thing feels like a callback to original animation styles back with animation cels and su ch. that's what I got from it anyhow.
>>12459104
Third, the outlines seem to be very sketchy in comparison to most modern shows, almost as if its emulating cel outlines, but still with a fairly uniform thickness.
Has anything come out about the production of G-Reco that might shed light on this?
New Devilman anime slated for Fall 2015.
Will be handled by Studio Actas (Kotetsushin Jeeg, Mazinkaiser SKL, Girls Und Panzer)

Would more people understand G-Reco better if it had less literal subs?
>>12453897
or if they had a brain
Is there anyone working on new subs for the show?
Maybe... if they got a local team to do the translation. G-Reco's dialogue (allegedly) has a lot of Japanese connotations that no one outside the country would understand.
But a dub would be the better option since it would force them to streamline the script. As one anon said in another thread, Tomino dialogue is often better heard.
