Would more people understand G-Reco better if it had less literal subs?
>>
>>12453897
or if they had a brain
>>
Is there anyone working on new subs for the show?
>>
Maybe... if they got a local team to do the translation. G-Reco's dialogue (allegedly) has a lot of Japanese connotations that no one outside the country would understand.

But a dub would be the better option since it would force them to streamline the script. As one anon said in another thread, Tomino dialogue is often better heard.
>>
>>12453923
[sage] tried but I think they gave up after an episode or two.
>>
>>12453925
I think dubtitles would work too, as long as the script flows well and it's not too elaborate.
>>
>>12453897
I think people would understand it better if they've watched Turn A.
>>
>there is a coherent plot to understand
>>
>>12453897
Perhaps if they too were senile like the author it would make sense. Then again maybe not.
>>
I'm an ESL speaker like many here and it wasn't hard to understand. You might need to skip back sometimes to reread a line but that's it.

B-but that requires effort!
>>
>>12453960
You do realize that TV shows are designed to be watched as TV broadcasts, right?
>>
>>12453897
That's not the problem. Even Elevens had problems understanding the show, so it's not a translation problem.
>>
How is it that Tomino made things as great as Turn-A and 0079, but also things as terrible as G-Reco and Zeta?
>>
>>12454065
The Elevens I've spoken to about it seem to understand fine.
>>
>>12454067
>0079 is good
>Zeta is bad
>>
>>12454083
Correct.
>>
>>12454088
But the pacing and story are atrocious in 0079, plus the animation is garbage even for when it was made.
>>
>>12454067
I don't know how people can like Turn A and 0079 and HATE G-Reco. They share basically all the same issues.
And if you can't make sense of G-Reco story and characters, then I don't know how you could like arcs like Will Game's or Ral's.
>>
>>12454091
I keep seeing people say 0079's animation is terrible but watching it for the first time now, it's really not (at least not in the way I assumed).

I mean sure, the suits go off-model quite frequently and the in-betweens leave a lot to be desired, BUT the battle choreography (i.e. what really matters) is great and holds up well today.
>>
>>12454112
>BUT the battle choreography (i.e. what really matters) is great and holds up well today
Meh, battles space-ship on space-ship really suck, most of the times they are boring and repetitive.

I think the best part is the animation involving characters because it is really expressive.
>>
>>12454112
>BUT the battle choreography (i.e. what really matters)
Cancer killing /m/
>>
>>12454119
Well speaking for myself, I'm one of those who (if push comes to shove) prefers fluid combat animation at the expense of consistency.
>>
>>12454112
Even to this day, I still think that the fight between Char and Amuro was pretty well done. And I got into MSG79 after I've watched the later series like Seed, 00 etc.
>>
>>12454119
You can have a billion fancy frames, it doesn't mean shit if what's actually going on in the fight has shit choreography.

Looks less doujin-like than cover 1. His style seems improved.
Wil looks sexy as fuck, and by Reflector Pack + Dellensen on the cover I would say this covers up to 1/4th of the series.

>still not up for pre-order on CDJapan
WHY? ;_;
I bought the OST and Vol.1 anyway.

Choreography is what matters in fight scenes though. It's why things like Kira's beamspam are so bad.

What about Gundaminfo, does anybody know if their subs are any better?
>>
>>12453897
People had trouble following G?
>>
>>12454565
No, but as a defense mechanism of the fanbase, anyone who finds a flaw or expresses feeling let down gets branded as "too stupid to understand". just watch the responses to this post and you'll get the idea
>>
>>12454581

This. Trolls pretending to be G-reco fans flooded all of the G-Reco threads. Any time anyone voiced any form of complaint about the show, either a part of the plot they didn't think made sense or just general disapproval, there were 3-4 responding posts claiming they were simply too stupid to understand Tomino's brilliance and that they should go back to watching A/Z.

It was really tiresome.
>>
>>12454514
They're the exact same.
>>
>>12454378
Added to the gallery.
>>
I'm interested in resubbing the series. Life's busy now though so I haven't gotten around to it, but if there's some interest then I can do a resub of episodes 1-3 to test the waters and we'll see how it goes.
>>
>>12454178
why are Aida's knockers so large here?
>>
>>12453897
Well wasnt it poorly translated in the first place?
like the apparently happa at one point says "even though the g self is a devil it was built to protect you" but the subs leave out the bit about it being a devil. and the bit in the last episode where mick jack tells klim his left arm is damaged but the subs say right - it might have been the other way around i dont remember
>>

I think people would understand it better if it wasn't so mind numbingly boring they have to do other things to entertain themselves during the show.

Something to do with being more able to give birth. It's a biological thing. Really now, they're damn hot, that's what's important.
