What are the best books about Ancient Egypt?

>>8720118
do white people unironically believe they were ancient egyptians?
I want to catch up on ancient greek literature, but don't know where to start.
Should I go with just classic drama or religious tales? What era is a good pick
Where should I begin?
How about using the catalog anon?
>>8719984
If you don't want to begin with a dry non-fiction book then start with the Odysseus or smaller sagas about the Argonauts, Heracles, Ödipus, etc. After that you can go for the Iliad, some plays or whatever. Don't feel forced to go by the graph in detail.

How to deal with falling in love but not having enough sexual power to keep it up and probably having the only thing you romanticized in life destroyed by that small thing, your impotence. And the feeling of having lost something FUCKIN hard to find cuz of that, and the feeling that you'll never be able to keep it up. Anon, your love even read the meme books you love so much, you weren't able to fuck her, the antidepressants you took in the past wrecked your libido.
To keep it rolling: books that may help a person deal with this? books for this feel? Lit related philosophys that could help?
>>8719948
Sex isn't for everyone. That's why professionals are so celebrated in this day and age.
Here's a solution you dimwit,
>well I can't fuck you but instead how about I perform oral pleasures on you instead and become the best at it I can till my libido resumes normalcy

>But she wants the D, not the T
Is there a name for the literary device where one says a phrase near the beginning of something such as a poem or short story, then repeats it near the end and re-interprets it in light of the story?
>>8719925
thanks, much better
>>8719925
ironic use of extended metaphor is the closest I can think of.
Antanaclasis perhaps depending how it is used.
Is Lovecraft really the best horror author of all time?
>>8719890
There cannot be a "best" because it is subjective
This is the best thread of all time you worthless cock boy
Poe, King, Barker?
Books and the songs that go with them.
I love reading a book with a song in mind, though here I'm just looking for songs specifically about a book or series, not just ones that fit.
I'll start with a few, post any you know.

Why did Milton make Satan so attractive a character?
To make the reader also feel tempted?
But he doesn't convincingly make God seem like a good dude beyond the fact he's God and it's a given.
>>8719810
>I will not serve
Unironically believe this to be one of the most powerful lines in literature
Blake still has the best interpretation. He was of the Devil's party without knowing it.
>>8719810
even though Milton's Satan doesn't come across as some cartoon super villain, I'd say it would be impossible to argue that he was 'good' as he was the one who 'brought deathinto the world, and all our woe'.
its hard to say OP, some people argue that its because Milton was bitter about his failing revolution, giving him an aversion to authority, but I think it was because of the simple reason that flat characters don't make great main antagonists.
its very unlikely that he did it to 'tempt' the reader though, he was a devout christian.
Why does symbolism need to exist? Is there anything wrong with a book that can be taken at face value?
the problem with books is that they say exactly what they say.
>>8719771
There's nothing wrong with it if you're a shitty writer.
>>8719793
>it le has to have le deeper meaning xD
I want to read Don Quixote. What book/translation should I get?
The one in your picture.
Edith Grossman

Are mediocre or shitty writers braver and better people than those on /lit/ who shit on their creations but never have the balls to write or put their work out there?
>>8719621
Pretty much anyone is better and braver than people on /lit/.
>>8719621
Verily, yes.
E. L. James might write like a 10th grade drop out with a TBI, but god damn she fucking did it.
>>8719621
>braver
Yes, unless they're deluded which is not so unlikely
>better
No, bad contributions to any medium is a crime, it'd be better had they not published at all rather than bring the average down
