but sometime loneliness make me think otherwise... I need love....the true love
designed around a theoretical/philosophical investigation (namely that of solipsism and the impossible, alien Other), Its meta-textual nature is foregrounded by both the frame narrative (the "author" and the author) and the (occasionally a little heavy-handed) central metaphor of the Self Smuggled within our own stories – smuggled within the tales we tell ourselves of our own history, and the Self we hide in our memories of others.
He is right, of course, that there is an unbreachable barrier between us and the Truth of the Other, that we are blinded by absorption, receiving un-traceable, origin-less signals from the World. If one does not doubt the existence of this World (and some do, or did, though I will not go that far) how does one not become mortifyingly depressed at the impossibility of actual interaction with it? What does it mean to have a relationship with someone whose existence is entirely a construct of my own, fundamentally flawed, brain?
David attempts, by carrying out the writer's trick of donning the mask of the Other, to not only bridge this gap, but also attempt to create a complete image of himself which incorporates his position as Other to those countless Others he encounters.
It is not a spoiler to note that he fails, as his task is an impossible one, though his failure is fascinating, and moving, and a joy to read.
There are times, too, when the prose strains at its binding, slips and stumbles, fractures. This is not only a very apt reflection of the increasing desperate mental state of David himself, but also a sign (which I believe his later work demonstrates) of McElroy's desire to push the Novel, both structurally and textually, to a place where it can most effectively engage with his concerns.
How do I into Leibniz?
post good charts, where it seems the maker is at least vaguely familiar with the works recommended, and not just copy and pasting suggestions he got from random anons
Doesn't anyone find the idea of "dialectical materialism" to be quite religious in it's nature, I'm not talking in a fedora tipper sense, but more of like how it gives off this sense of hope to the workers even through really harsh conditions, I really think this is by far the most amazing thing Marx managed to come up with, regardless of what Schopenhauer had to say about Hegel, the march of history is still valid if you're not a pessimist philosophically.
Just bought, what am I in for
Are any of Egan's other books worth reading? I just remembered reading this and it was a lot of fun.

What role do fairytales and folk tales have in literature?
I've been reading these Norwegian folk tales lately and it's refreshing. Their brevity allows you to really consume and examine the story as a whole which lends itself to archetypal themes and I find I'm spending more time thinking about the story than reading it. So for me, they are a pretty unique medium.
Okay /lit/ I just downloaded every work of foucault and derrida
Do I read the french boogeymen and in what order. Someone provide me with reading chart.
Worth a read? Also, eclipse-core thread
Dunno where else to ask this.
I would like to make something that resembles an anime magazine, filled with fake ads, nice tipography, drawings, music.
I would like to code it in libgdx because is a nice library.
I would like for it to be a mix of a magazine, a comic, some bits of interactivity (similar to a videogame).
It would be something in my mind like a magazine you read, play some minigames to unlock new chapters and enjoy the multimedia experience.
Something that could mix what makes cool a magazine, a focus on writing and poethry, focus on drawing, some music and some interactivity.
Dunno if this even exist, dunno if this is even possible, but I want to discuss this idea.
About the magazine part would be articles aroudn the same world, fake ads about stuff from the lore and the articles written to catter to people who want to know about the lore of the world.
Dunno how to even attempt this.
I guess I'd shoud simply to shut up and make whatever it comes.
