Hi /lit/!
My little sister turns 18 next week. I want to get her a book. Which one should I choose?
A novel? About which topic? A classic? A collection of poems?
Since we're native German speakers, German originals are preferred. English is also fine.
Please help me!

The Conspiracy Against the Human Race.
I'm a 34 year old man and I want your sister to grind her sopping wet German pussy on my face.
Get here some Nin and de Sade. You can't go wrong.
Looking for something that could be read in about a day.
Best short books (under 150 pages) /lit/?

White Nights by Dostoevsky

Will Nihilism be the inevitable demise of religion in America?
>>8906497
No, it's the answer
Nihilism will much more likely function alongside or within religion
>>8906497
Nihilism is a joke
I don't get this chart. Help please!
Please elaborate on your problem.
Please elaborate on your autism.
The chart is missing any modern historical volume, and missing modern supplemental/companion/polemical works. To get the most out of any of it, you'd need those.
Okay, /lit/ I haven't read a book from start to finish in a little more than 2 years. I was never really much of a reader but i have been really into music for the past years so at least i know i can put motivation into something. I think my biggest problem is that i easily dose off which i know seems annoying but thats just how i am. What book would you recommend for someone so that they can start reading a bit more?

Why does everyone who hasn't read Lolita talk about it like they have? Why has so much twisted up Loli culture sprouted from it? Why is pop culture incapable of understanding Nabokov was writing? What went so wrong? Why? FUCKING WHY???
>>8906427
Why are you so interested?
>>8906427
>Loli culture came from Lolita
Wrong. Men have always desired little girls throughout history.
>>8906436
Because western culture has destroyed the meaning of this book and completely disregards the actual work
>>8906450
>insisting mainstream loli culture has not sprouted retards not understanding this book
How is it that a rational egoist can be a socialist? Sounds like a contradiction to me
explain
>>8906335
>Sounds like a contradiction to me
Sounds like you dont understand that not everyone benefits from a hierarchical society
>>8906378
Apparently cheryshevsky was huge proponet of rational egoism and socialism. I dont feel like reading his shit, so Im wondering how those two things are cohesive.
>>8906380
But the people who do benefit would be acting against their best interests to be socialist. Socialism restricts ones abilities to act in their self interests

>>8906246
That people who think about health in intellectual activities are dangerous.
Clearly he's brainwashed or mentally ill.
>>8906252
People who think about health in intellectual activities only serve to limit helpful outcomes along with negative.

Are you capable of reading serious novels anymore? I read this last year and inspired me to spam the phrase "narcissistic barely disguised memoirs" on this board. There are many other serious novels that I have given up on. Seeing them now is like seeing children try to act like adults. It's like these books try to take the royal road to literary greatness and all fail. Even Pynchon comes off as so fucking fake, like he knows he can write anything he wants and the publishers will publish it and the readers will read it because he knew the internet hadn't been invented yet. I wouldn't even complain about these people if literature wasn't a dead medium.
How do you deal with the fact that you started reading out of a genuine interest or search for enjoyment but you are now being held hostage by people and told that you must read at least 52 books a year with the efficiency of an MBA who schedules his free time? And you have to loudly say you have read and reread the classics and claim you enjoyed them all, due to the fact that in a completely dead art form that has atrophied in to ornaments for social posturing, personal taste is not allowed?

I am?
Are you falling for the "take 4chan seriously" meme again?
If literature is a dead medium why are you causing all this hullabaloo?
>>8906156
It's not just 4chan.
didn't you go to school and get forced to write about why the writer's use of red curtains was extremely profound?
Didn't you get forcefed dead culture (poems) at school while you voluntarily enjoyed, in your free time, "immature manchild" forms of culture that will never count as "Art" due to their use of new technology?

Because of the extreme pressure society puts you under to spend your time and say you care.
were jk rowling to be convinced to produce another book in latin --in addition to HP's I and II--, what would you hope for? My first choice woud be HP III, but then what? lord of the flies (latin teachers would have a good chance of arguing that into their curricluums), or catcher in the rye? or, oh man, how 'bout jurassic park? or, yes yes, a little nicolas (senpe?) what would you like to see? and how to get the idea to jk?
