Is there a /lit/ Discord? Pic unrelated.
>>9128430
>REE IT'S ANOTHER MEMBER OF THE ALT-RIGHT INTERNATIONAL.
Just kidding. I immediately recognised this man. He is perhaps Sweden's last hope. Good luck /lit/ bro.
There exists one which I visited a month or two ago, "/lit/ 2.0", but it's basically where all the image-obsessed pseuds of /lit/ flock (narcissists who went astray on their way to /soc/, basically). There's very little discussion which someone with real interest in literature would want to be a part of
>>9128430
There is, but it's filled with lowercase typing pseudo-intellectual nihlistic ironic douchebags.
Discord severs in general are a black hole. You rarely get authentic human interaction on the big "social" discord servers you find linked on 4chan. They almost always degenerate into low effort irony posts and ego circle jerks.
Without a common goal or ideaology to work towards, you get really ugly and unfulfilling communication. Finding it hard to describe this in the right words, but the gist of what I'm saying is that discord is bad for making friends with other human beings. You're better off heading to your local book store/university/cafe (assmuming you live in a large, populated city).
4chan chat groups can work, but only if there's less than 10-15 regular posters. If there's any more then you most likely wont find any meaningful relationships.
>Faulkner novel
>cover is a Southern house backed by a landscape of fields and a blue sky
Right

Are those editions good? I was thinking of getting the Vintage versions like pic related, are they "worse"? They're slightly cheaper and i prefer their design

>there is something wrong with this because ___________
What book has/had taken you the longest to read?
I don't mean in regards to the length of the book itself. I mean the actual time it took you to finish it.
>>9128223
WHY?! WHY MUST YOU TORMENT ME SO WITH THESE JEZEBELS? All I want to do is come here for an asexual experience that will exercise my brain but I am constantly titillated by these vixens with their prodigious hips and provocative figures. Can I never satiate this thirst, will I ever know the touch of a woman and enter between her loins? Will my seed ever drip from her moistened hole?
Life is a constant hell. No wonder I resent women too.

take this pasta back to /r9k/, you pathetic shit
Not a face, at all
Huge squishy boobs like perfect balls
I am about to cum
So I've decided to read the Bible for the first time, but I'm having a lot of trouble understanding it. I'm not really concerned with the "meaning" I'm meant to get out of it, I just have trouble following what is supposed to be going on. I'm admittedly not very smart, but I felt it's important to have actually read the Bible.
>>9128217
god did it lol
>>9128217
Get a translation for dummies and ESLs like the Good News one.
>>9128217
Get a copy that has commentaries like the Didache Bible or the Navarre Bible or the Oxford Catholic Study Bible. In the Didache Bible (I have one) for instance gives a outline on the books like which ones are historic, poetic, prophetical, etc.
Took me 3 weeks to fully read pic related, is it a good time for someone that started reading seriously a year ago?
>>9128156
Start with Schopenhauer's 'On Women'
>>9128156
What's that, 50-60 pages a day? Pretty decent pace, yeah.
What are some good documentaries on /lit/ related subjects, like authors or just literature in general?

I just began my Master program in Netherlands and wanted to use this occasion to explore Dutch history and culture.
I know it is a niche subject, but if someone could recommend a good read, I would appreciate it.
Pic related, Nescio is probably the easiest place to start. I also recommend visiting the Rijksmuseum if you want a quick impression of Dutch history and culture
and then get out of Amsterdam ASAP.
>>9128083
I actually been to the Amsterdam few times before and visited the Rijksmuseum, but right now I am living in Utrecht.
Thanks for the recommendation picture - will last me for a while, still looking for a history books tho as I like to explore and understand the history of the country firsts and then dive into their culture
post Nederlandse gedichtjes~
Poëzie is een daad
van bevestiging. Ik bevestig
dat ik leef, dat ik niet alleen leef.
Poëzie is een toekomst, denken
aan de volgende week, aan een ander land,
aan jou als je oud bent.
Poëzie is mijn adem, beweegt
mijn voeten, aarzelend soms,
over de aarde die daarom vraagt.
Voltaire had pokken, maar
genas zichzelf door o.a. te drinken
120 liter limonade: dat is poëzie.
Of neem de branding. Stukgeslagen
Are you familiar with this concept ? Are they a reliable predictor personality or useful in anyway ?
They're reliable with pointing out a person's core quirks but nowadays they're used by Tumblrinas to flash their special-snowflake identity. It's about as cringe as the liberal arts students flashing their zodiac signs.
>>9127946
They are useful to describe behaviors themselves, but not to categorize people. No one is entirely an "introvert" or "extravert" at all times
>>9127946
an intelligent mature and humble person should be capable of all of these qualities; they are present in all of us. There is no such thing as an "infpabcdwhatever"
Is Murakami a Japanese John Green?
like john green meets jim jarmusch
just read hardboiled wonderland and it was fucking terrible
>>9127878
He can be a Jhon Green but he's not Japanese. Try change all the names of people, places, etc. with american names and it's still the same novel. Try do it with Mishima, Akutagawa, Dazai, eeeeeeeh not that easy.
>>9127878
he is the Japanese john green
>I meet a tall skinny QT 3.14
>I pursue her and eventually we fuck a few times and she's hooked
>I find out that she doesn't read for her own enjoyment outside of college classes
>lose interest gradually even though she is great in every other aspect
Thanks /lit/
If this story is true, which it most likely isn't, what are you waiting for? Get her into books. This isn't a fucking Hollywood movie, you have to work on your relationships if you want them to work.
>>9127987
Working on relationships doesn't mean breeding people into what you want
I love that my gf isn't a reader, because I can say the most retarded shit about various authors and books and she'll be charmed and think I'm super smart and suck my dick. Imagine if she read and called me out on my bullshit claims? We'd just argue. It would be horrible.
*signals virtue*
>>9127507
he was redpilled. Would've browsed 4chan today, espcially /pol/ and /r9k/
>>9127507
Go back to the tattoo thread, anon.

this makes me want to see some fictional series of historical figures put together into something. Like a sharehouse, trying to live day-to-day or just interacting with each other on a forum/imageboard/social media. I guess a cartoon would probably work best for this.
It would make me warm and happy.

What did everyone think of of the Second Trip? What do you do think of the writing style and how it slips in and out of first person, third person, time, space, etc.? What is your favourite storyline so far? Is Simon Moon anyone else's favourite character?
I read this when I was a 16 yr old stoner
imm liking it. Like how its all over the place but can still follow. Im pretty far ahead now though. Didnt think anyone else was reading...
>>9126949
Has anyone read pic related? I read "How to read and why" by Harold Bloom, which I really liked but it wasn't quite what I expected. I guess I'm just looking for something that will help me extract more from novels, but maybe that's just all nonsense.
>>9126877
I thought it was pretty good. He basically goes through a list of common symbols, like "water can mean a baptism or rebirth."
>>9126880
I also read that he has a recommended reading list at the back, so that sounds pretty interesting. I might check it out then. Thanks.
>>9126882
Can someone post the recommended reading list at the back of the book?
Is there something similar to "The Wolf Among Us"?
You do realise it is based on series of comic books Fables or something like that
>>9127592
Not OP, but boy, the comics are a true disaster. Unless you want pages dedicated to how Goldilocks fucked the 3 bears, don't read it.
>>9127602
I don't think you've read more than a couple stories from the comics... it's had over a hundred issues with many different arcs, most of which were "straight" fantasy
