Took me 3 weeks to fully read pic related, is it a good time for someone that started reading seriously a year ago?

Start with Schopenhauer's 'On Women'

What's that, 50-60 pages a day? Pretty decent pace, yeah.

Alexandre Dumas wrote books for entertainment. Literally a waste of time if your primal goal is to delve into serious classic literature.

Alexandre Dumas was for 19 century what is Michael Bay for Hollywood

As a guy who doesn't read that often (I don't have the time), I've read "The Count of Monte Cristo" in six days. 3 weeks is too much for that book, it's not that good of a time, but read at a pace that's comfortable for you, this isn't a race, although it would be better if you could read faster, you'd read more books then.

Is this supposed to discourage me from
enjoying the book?

>read carefully, and not to be satisfied with a superficial understanding of a book.
>From Marcus Aurelius's Meditations
Anyone who doesn't do close reading is a pleb. The author put those words there carefully, purposefully, and wisely. That is why they are great. To read like one would read a woman's romance novel is a disservice, to yourself and to the author.

I agree with you absolutely. Never understood the kind of people that try to read as fast as possible.
