He figured out that massing artillery was a good idea - a revolutionary figure for Russian military thinking.

People love to talk mad shit about Human Wave tactics, but it was actually Ingenious and Zuhkov should be praised. Russian manpower was actually literally infinite. Zuhkov understood this and just threw those russians into minefields, machine guns, and tanks with impunity because he understood that the primary goal in life for a Russian is to die. If a Russian did not die in combat, he was seen as a failure in life. The Commissars did not exist to shoot those who retreated, but to shoot all survivors after a successful battle.

I took class over the weekend and we shot a bunch of different weapons that are not too common. I shot the VZ58 and fucking loved it. I only put about 20 rounds through it but it just felt good and solid. What is /K/'s opinion on these?

It's reputed to be better than the AK in almost every way, and in an interesting twist, is not in the list of guns specifically called out in the '94 AWB, and does not have an operating mechanism that's substantially similar to one, either. I want one, but I don't have the cash. Only Centerfire has them for a reasonable price right now.

I own a csa vz58 and have had good experiences. They are reasonably accurate and the most handy and light weight rifle in their class. Their biggest weakness comes from their magazines. The lifter which hold the bolt open has to be in spec and with a strong enough spring. Otherwise, you get jamming problems. Also, if you leave the mags loaded for too long, it can crack the feed lip. This is common on surplus mags. Really nice rifle though, I think their advantages outweigh the mag issue

Do any country's armed forces use revolvers as standard issue or in any formal capacity? I'm writing a tabletop setting and need to know.

Also, if there are multiple, I'd like recommendations if possible

I was recently in the tech test for GR: Wildlands.

It's sure not the old style Ghost Recon, and has the usual open world ubisoft crap, but it's a decently entertaining sandbox themepark you can operate around with some bros in, and there's a good amount of depth to the ways you can assault any given position.

TL:DR boring ubishit sandbox in singleplayer, Great fun with people you know. 7/10 it's alright.

Got BF1 a few days ago. It's alright, typical BF game with a WW1 veneer on it. It'll be quite good if DICE gives it as much long-term love as BF4 got, otherwise it's barely worth the $60.

I'm looking forward to this one. If nothing else, Ubi games are great for playing operator dressup, and they're a lot of fun with friends. I'll probably get it on PS4 so I can play with my consolebabby IRL friends.

I'm hoping there's someone USMC here, can you explain to me something about barracks duty? Do you have to stay up for 24 hours straight (and have a normal working day with PT the next) or do you sleep in shifts or sleep the next day? How does it work?
23 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>31868469
Like most things in the USMC barrack duties depend entirely on how open your are to giving handjobs.
>>
>>31868469
not in USMC but in a force that draws a shit ton of its training and routine from those devil dogs.

We always have 3 people on one 24h duty shift.
At day time the highest ranking of the 3 sits at the desk while the other 2 are available for any activities that need doing.

They are the guys that have to run around doing shit, or organise working parties if anything needs doing.

Night time, the highest ranking goes to sleep 2 hours after the main force, after touring the base and ensuring cleanliness of common rooms and stuff.

The other 2, usually privates. Have to split the night.

One sleeps while other sits at the fucking desk.

They usually get a little less than 4hours of sleep each that night.

All 3 have to be up and at the duty desk 30min before the main force wakes up.

Apologies for my shitty english, but we do draw a lot from the USMC.

Our hand to hand is exclusively MCMAP, and although we are Army not marines. We have ranks like Lance Corporal instead of PFC.

I was the LC on duty almost every other week, because I fucked up by getting promoted.

Got a question for you guys.
I own a cz sp-01 9mm
Shoot 115gr cheap 9mm
I was told to replace my recoil spring and slide stop after 3,000 shots.

Is that Normal mantience?
Also,
What other things would be normal to replace after X amount of rounds?
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
buy said parts and have on hand. Shoot until you get malfunctions in those parts.
Or
Shoot and realize people saying this or that are usually them parroting things they've read or heard and a lot of people actually replacing said parts when no issue has occurred are people getting a bit autistic with their weapons.
>>
>>31868423
A gun range told me this.
But, range rentals are beat to shit and are not cleaned like mine are.

Since I'm a bit autistic when it comes the maintenance on items I own, I guess I'll follow the 3K change.
>>
>>31868427
recoil spring is 5k slide stop is 15k
that said cz parts longevity is iffy 3k is a very conservative estimate
personally i just have spares on hand a swapem when the gun starts fucking up repeatedly

What is it like to fire a .45? It’s horrifying, menacing and very very loud.

It felt to me like a bazooka — and sounded like a cannon.

But mostly, I was just terrified.

Squeeze lightly on the trigger and the resulting explosion of firepower is humbling and deafening (even with ear protection).

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don't know what you're doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.

Yeah I coated a revolver in it. Shit works well. Doesn't wear for a while. Only thing to note is that the colors they say on the can are kinda off. I wanted a desert tan but it came out more FDE. Black, and parkerized grey were consistent however.
>>
>>31869998
Did you have to do any metal prepwork other than degreasing the frame? Like Bead blasting it?
>>
>>31870728
don't need to bead blast, but de-grease the shit out of it, and heat it with a heat gun before applying. Also it really does take a week to cure. You have to not fuck with it for the time. If you do that, it looks pretty good and wears reasonably well.

Guns that are just awful to disassemble

Starting off here with the Browning Auto 5

You probably grew up hunting ducks with one of these and I know a lot of kommandos have a special place in their heart but hear me out.

To get the bolt out you need to take out like 10 screws one stupid little v shaped spring and the elevator before you can even get to it for cleaning. And half of these are locking screws which are about the size of a two grains of rice and roll around on tables.

I love you JMB :^)

Next there's this little cunt. You're probably thinking "a bolt gun hard to disassemble?" yes anon this is the Steyr M.95/30.

The bolt on these fuckers is a nightmare to take apart and worse getting it back together.

First you have to unscrew this tiny little screw that holds the safety in place which is extra thin just like the screws on the auto 5 which means if you don't have the right tool you're going to damage your 100+ yo gun. The screw is also like 80% longer than it needs to be and goes on forever.

One you finish that then you have to unthread the cocking lever which is fine but now your bolt is in two pieces which you have to take down one more time by unscrewing a little cap that retains the firing pin and its spring.

Now your thinking that wasn't too hard well guess what? You're now fucked. Because to put it back together you need to turn both the firing pin to face the extractor and the bolt handle Oh and the extractor isn't attached to anything so you have to hold it in place. With your thumb. While you're doing this you need to align the little cap with the recesses where the bolt rides but it's also not held in place so when you try to put it back in, it can very easily become unaligned in which case you have to start over.

Now if you can align these 5 things and the moon is in just the right spot youre done! Oh wait now you have to pull the bolt head to the forward position with about 15 lbs of force which doesn't sound like a lot until you realize the bolt is smooth and probably Slippery with cleaner that got on to it.

And now you're done right? Wrong. You can put the bolt on BACKWARDS meaning you need to redo the entire process.
>>
>>31868069
Forgot to mention you need super thin flat head screws or else you'll fuck up your screws irreparably

What do you guys EDC?

I just got my ccw permit and I need a gun. I was looking at the Shield and other single stack 9s and they look all nice, but what about revolvers or .380s like the bodyguard, lcp, ppk, or bersa thunder?

I have a g19 but I'm a manlet and its a little big for me to carry everywhere.

Dude all you need is a good holster and belt. I EDC a G19 to college, legal but expulsion-bait, and have for years. I just wear shirts with patterns on them, plaid/striped/etc, or have an unbuttoned longsleeve shirt over top to break up any outline.

Nobody has a fucking clue.

Some weird guy pulled a knife on me in front of his kid tonight.

I was walking the streets in a very disturbing costume, and he approached me as if I was going to give candy to his kid.

When I shrugged, he pulled out the 3-inch blade on his multi-tool and got legitimately angry at me.

I was carrying, but I slowly walked away because I didn't want to deal with the cops and a court case.

Should I have done anything differently during this situation?
