Which gun makers are based and which are riding the coat tails of history to promote their overpriced product?

Does colt still set the standard for 1911's like they claim or are they just a glorified novelty company at this point.
>English is hard
Everything sucks and is shitty now, new guns are terrible. Also old guns are terrible. Old companies make crap. New companies just make cheap crap. That new product is overpriced dogshit with snowflake accessories. Cerkote my dick purple. 300BLK AIDS SIG REMINGSHIT GONORRHEA
/k/,what is the best gun against skeletons?
12 gauge beanbags
Any gun will work fine against a skeleton as all firearms deal Bludgeon AND Piercing damage, and all skeletons have DR against everything that's not Bludgeon. Of course your best defense against a skeleton is a Good Cleric or a Paladin.

Anyone here from Maine? Is Maine a gun-friendly state?
I'm a merchant mariner, and I make a very good salary. I really want to move to Alaska and live there, but I've heard the cost of living is high as fuck. I could buy like 100 acres in rural Maine, with oceanfront property, and have all of the things I ever wanted. But it's not Alaska, and their flag is gay as fuck, and I don't know if their state legislature is gun-friendly and I also don't know if the people themselves are gun-friendly.
Whereas with Alaska, I could afford maybe 50 acres of waterfront property, but probably nowhere near as nice of a house because it costs so much more to build in Alaska, and also the house has to be super insulated, and heating oil is expensive as fuck up there. So I probably wouldn't be able to have all the nice things I like. Oh, and the groceries are expensive as fuck. I'm from Indiana so I'm used to construction, groceries, electricity, etc being cheap as fuck.
Not to mention in Maine I could easily get electricity and decent internet and stuff even in the rural parts, not necessarily so in Alaska.
Can any Alaskans and Mainers weigh in on this? From the Alaskans I mainly want to know if the cost of building and owning a home is really as outrageous as everyone makes it seem, and from the Mainers I'd like to know if the gun laws are good and also if the people themselves aren't all limp wristed libcucks.
>>31862295
Look in the Kenai or Soldotna area. Beautiful homes on massive lots can be bought very affordably. The problem is you're in bumfuck nowhere. The closer you get to Anchorage the more expensive it gets.
Soldotna is small but still has most of the modern amenities you might be used to. The biggest negatives being a few hour drive to Anchorage and having to deal with the massive influx of tourists during the Spring and Summer.
Building a home up here isn't actually that bad. Lots of my buddies have recently had homes built and ended up being cheaper than buying complete. Cost of living as far as food and utilities is concerned isn't too bad either. Definitely more expensive but generally higher wages makes up for it anyway.
>>31862373
The problem is I'm a merchant mariner. We get paid pretty handsomely (usually about $10,000/month at sea, with several months paid vacation a year, good healthcare and other benefits), but it doesn't increase based on where you live. So while that $100,000 a year might go pretty far in Indiana, it goes much less further in Alaska.
Preferably I wanted to live in the Passage, near Sitka and Juneau, because I like the maritime climate there. But from what I've seen, the Fed owns most of the land out there so its hard finding a suitable plot of land.
The Kenai peninsula also looks nice, the weather can get into the 70s and 80s during summer even, and I'd be close enough to civilization to be able to get certain things when I need them.
I also found a plot of land for sale on Lake Iliamna, about 100 acres, for like $150,000 or something, which is within my budget for land. But then that's pretty remote and it's iffy if I could get electricity from a company, or utilities like cable, internet, etc.
So I guess really I don't mind the expensive groceries and heating, especially since I won't be home like 6-8 months out of the year. Really I'm just wary of moving there because I'm not sure if I could afford the house I want up there, whereas I could afford it down here. It's not very big or anything, just 2,200 sqft. But I want it to be nice, you know?
>>31862295
Maine has constitutional carry, but Southern Maine is always trying to make the whole state cucked.
Where are you trying to buy?
To begin, I'm not new to the subject. I know with the election closing in, everybody and their mothers is starting to "prep". I've been doing it for about 2 years (though I'm only 22 and have been budgeting with the limit that is minimum wage).
Just making this thread as an attempt at a general, where peppers can discuss whatever they want.
>what are you prepping for
>how far along are you
>how has it impacted your life
>what are you focusing on hoarding/buying these days
>are you bugging out (for city dwellers) or staying in (rurals)
>shitposting
Hope this thread works out.
>why do you prep
I don't.
Too poor.
does hording ammo count? because I do that.
Natural Disaster (most likely, keep blankets, some canned food, matches, etc. handy)

Highly unlikely, but it's every American's duty to be ready for one.

Who's drinking on this Halloween day? Or if you're in a part of the world where it's recently come to pass, how was it for you? Though then again if you're that far east, you might not celebrate it. Just had about 210ml (7oz) of Cpt. Morgan's Dark in 9 minutes. I'm starting things off with a bang.
Also, general bolt actions thread. Fuck it, general WWI/WWII firearms bread. This is about as good a social life as I can manage at present.

i call bullshit. every store in my side of the state has ar's left that have been sitting at $600 for months and mags to go with them
they have 22 on the shelves at decent prices. and every other caliber is in stock.
>>31861851
wtf I need to go buy something from my Local Gun Shop now so I don't miss my chance!
>>31861887
Yeah, its bull crap.
Sure the prices of AKs have gone up a bunch but that's due to the drying up of the surplus parts kits.
Remember 2012? THAT was a panic.
We all know that Commiefornia is trying to get rid of the ar-15. This might be a retarded question but I'll give it a shot. If I don't have enough $$$ to get a full ar right now, should I just walk into a gun store and get a receiver? I would still be able to buy the rest of the parts after the ban is enacted, right?
>>31861625
Not a bad idea all in all. If youre gonna do it, do it today before the prices get inflated even more.
>>31861625
The lower is actually the part that is technically "the gun".
But in California it does not matter. If you have a weapon that has too many "assault features" it's illegal. Full stop, no grandfathering, fuck you, it's illegal. So it doesn't matter how many lowers you buy you can't put them together with an upper if you have a baby killing pistol grip and a woman raping detachable magazine.
>>31861650
I'll have to go for a featureless build, but I'm hoping the rest of the parts stay in the market.
So, this Jihawg ammo is supposed to prevent Muslims from going to Heaven due to the bacon grease they paint on the tips of the bullets. What sort of ingredients would prevent a Jew from going to Heaven, though? I'm thinking that it's unfair that we should only have a way to kill a Muslim's soul, especially when Jewish are far more evil and corrupted, on average.
The stuff you posted won't work either, not only because the Islamic faith is a lie, but also because they have to willingly consume the pork.
Ammo to be used for the next Crusade

Electronic Warfare thread
What kinds of electronic attacks can be mounted? I know about jamming radars and communications, but what else can EW be used for in support of battlefield operations
>>31860560
There's essentially 3 types or areas that fall under EW (for the purpose of this explanation):
1. Jamming
2. Deception jamming
3. Cyber warfare
#1 is typical things like spot jamming, barrage jamming, etc - broadcasting signals to overwhelm their receiving systems and prevent them from identifying their own radar pulses. This form of jamming has some uses, especially for jamming comms, but a lot of modern radar systems are quite jam resistant, essentially by either working outside the frequency limits of the jammer, pulsing hard at random frequencies, forcing the jammer to spread its energy out and be weak relative, or by using complex modulation that makes its signal easier to identify among noise.
#2 is more common against radars, but has been around for quite some time, it involves things like blinking, range-gate / velocity-gate pull-off, terrain bouncing, cross polarisation, digital radio frequency memory jamming, etc. These techniques don't blind the radar, but instead confuse it; blinking for example is where you have two jets take turns broadcasting copies of the radar's return signal, making it look like the target is is jumping in space. Terrain bounce is when you bounce the radar signal off the ground, making a missile think that it's target is on the ground. Range-gate pull-off is when you emit the radar return with growing intensity, fooling the radar into turning down its gain until finally you stop emitting and their radar, set to a very low gain, can't see you any longer. DRFM deception jamming can take the forms of those other methods, but works better because your sample signal doesn't degrade and because digital computing lets you do various / multiple things to a signal with the same hardware.
1/x
>>31860707
>>31860560
Deception jamming is somewhat the mainstay of modern EW, but it's a game of cat and mouse, with radars being programmed to recognise and ignore various techniques. There's only so much they can do against super-fast and super-accurate / subtle EW systems.
#3 is newer and is more fancy, spooky and classified. Even when air-gapped, no system is unhackable (and yes that applies to the F-35 as well). Cyber warfare is somewhat loosely termed and can arguably range from really advanced deception jamming, tailored to specific equipment (eg, say the US knows that a certain signal will cause an S-400's automated aiming systems to turn in pursuit of a better signal, they could abuse that to keep the S-400 aimed in one direction unless manually controlled), all the way to injecting computer viruses into enemy systems. The latter is unknown and you'll hear a lot of vatniks claim it's impossible (and for some systems perhaps it is), but radio comms are prevalent and if you know the encryption of enemy comms, the programming of their systems, their comms protocols, you basically own everything on their network.
So what evidence is there that such things are possible? Look up Suter, developed by BAE (the guys who do the B-2, F-22 and F-35's EW systems), as well as Project Olympic Games (aka Stuxnet), as well as Project Nitro Zeus. Stuxnet wasn't deployed via aircraft, and there's no reason to believe Nitro Zeus would have been either, but Nitro Zeus would have invaded military comms networks to shut down Iran's IADS.
