D/ic/KS with carpal tunnel and other art hindering issues, how do you work around it?
I have carpal tunnel myself and have to stop drawing every five to ten minutes and shake my hand out for a few minutes before starting again.
Does anyone else suffer this? If so how do you deal with it?
>>2318930
I've got a mild form of Ehler-Danlos syndrome. It's basically like having carpal tunnel at random intervals and in multiple joints, at least in my case. I just stop when my body tells me to stop. Sometimes I can go for hours, sometimes I can't even start. The one time I ignored the pain I ended up having to rest for a week to go back to "normal". I was really scared I had fucked up my hands completely.
Also relaxation exercises help, whereas more stretching-oriented stuff like yoga or other common warm-up exercises make it worse.
In addition to drawing I stock shelves in a supermarket 6 nights a week. My hands hurt a lot,but I have been staving off the worst with aspirin an hour before work and Advil when it's particularly intense. That and I enacts when I get home.
Also,if you can afford it,try seeing a chiropractor regularly. One massaged my wrists for 10 minutes and I had gripping strength again. But since it's a chronic conditions you will get from the same physical activity all you can really do is maintenance for it,not cure yourself.
I'm a tattoo artist and hand cramps are especially annoying for me. I have to squeeze my grip so hard to hold the machine steady that I end up having to shake my hands every few minutes for the duration, makes me look silly and makes the customer wonder whats going on, all around bad shit. I started doing hand exercises and got one of those gyro ball things, over the past month ive seen some good improvement, so maybe try that.
Also here lately I get this rather painful burning sensation in the tips of all of my fingers, both hands, it comes and lasts for a few minutes, then passes but while its going I cant do anything, this is relatively new so if anyone knows what that might be from.
Any feedback for me /ic/? I am trying to go for a comic book/manga style but am struggling.

So guys, how do you advertise your art to gain more fans/clients? Where do you post, do you tag, add to groups, try to interact with people? Or just post your art and leave it all here? The more websites do you flood with your art the better or do you just stick with one site? Do you have your own website? And so on?
>>2318564
I have my own website, but it's just a place to host my portfolio. Most jobs I've had were from responding to postings or through contacts. Unless you are famous on social media you probably won't get a ton of clients approaching you.
My way is far from optimal, but I have a tumblr and a half abandoned deviantart.
In the time it took me to reach 35 watchers on deviantart I had 175 on tumblr, and I didn't need to jump through all the hoops of submitting to groups and shit, so I'd say tumblr is easily the more effective medium of the two. Apparently instagram is pretty good but I can't be assed to put my stuff on my phone just to upload it and I didn't see any decent alternative ways.
Usually I use tags like "art" "digital art" 'artists on tumblr' etc. And then whatever stuff is specifically applicable to whatever I just uploaded. I'm pretty sure "artists on tumblr" is a good one to have on everything you do, I'm pretty sure that's the usual one people use to find artists.
Fanart will get you more traffic, it's just a fact of life. They're tags people actually look through because it pertains to their interests.

>Apparently instagram is pretty good
Is it really? I have a sizeable follower count on tumblr because of fanart but I don't even reach a fraction with Instagram. Do I need to whore out each picture with 10 tags or something?
Hey /ic/.
I want to get serious about drawing but my dominant hand is kinda fucked up: low strength in muscle extension and involuntary finger twitches that last for a minute or so once in a while. I can draw just fine but I'm afraid it would be a serious issue when drawing in the future if I plan to get serious.
Should I start drawing with my left hand? How hard would it be to transition? Would it even be possible to be as skillful?
If you do digital and paint rather than do precise lineart you can probably pretty much negate the disadvantage. You can generally be pretty imprecise and just keep slapping layer over layer as you refine, and if you work on a large canvas you can just zoom in really far for precision stuff so even if your hand shakes it won't be a problem.
>>2318522
It can't hurt to start practicing with your left. Just be aware that your left has had a lifetime less of use than your right. When Algenpfleger got wrist issues and switched to his left he did the same volume of drawing and fucked up his left immediately. You'll need to ease into it.
Anyways, it's been done before. Frazetta suffered a stroke and couldn't use his right hand anymore and switched to his left and there was no difference really in his art after that.
I also think that the physical aspect of art is overemphasized. You can simply work larger or use an underhand grip to get around most problems. There's people out there who are paralyzed and can still paint. Unless you are relying a ton on very precisely controlled fine detail like some Renaissance draftsman, you are probably fine.
Do you guys have any recommendations when it comes to learning how to place an angle?
I've been trying to do scenery, etc, and I've learned perspective. I've taken architecture classes, and have read architecture books for 'the artist', but I'm really having trouble with placing where the viewer would be.
Are there any books, tutorials on that area?
>>2318177
The viewer's eyes are where the horizon is
>>2318372
Yeh, got that. Now if the viewer is lying on their stomach looking up at a tower?
>>2318543
The horizon would still be at eye level. There would be a new vanishing point that the upright planes of the tower would recede to; it would a 3-point perspective image at this point.
Have you been practicing your percpective anon?
Nah, I don't need this

How can I achieve this artstyle? What's the name of this art style? Are there any tutorials for this pixelated look?
It's called pixel art OP. Just do what I do and draw the image, downsize, trace over with the pixel tool, then color and shade.
As for the style, I suggest just looking up a bunch of this art and studying the constructions of the body.
You really should've just used google instead of making a thread about it.
>>2317761
try drawing and coloring with the binary tool. but ask yourself if it's the "pixelated" quality that you like or the art style itself.
>>2317761
I think its just a thin brush with no anti aliasing or whatever.
graph thread?
wanna see OC graphs or tags (not fucking toy pieces of shit made by 13 year olds pls)

Lol vad roligt!! Men visste du att denna board heter artwork & critique ?? :OOOO
Varför är svenskar så jävla dåliga på engelska? Sen eftersom du verkar vara underårig ska jag ge dig ett tips från vuxenvärlden: ta skolan på allvar och klottra inte på andras skit
Use a whiteboard marker on top of those writings, then wipe them off for quick fix. Also, this thread belongs in the >>>/trash/
Hi /ic/. I am drawing an artwork for an art competition. The thing can't be drawn traditionally. I used a Faber Castell 24 colour pencil set to colour the thing. Now my artwork has very limited colours and the colour scheme kind of sucks like pic related. How cna I fix it?
mixing colors, glazing over another. What do you mean by traditionally?
>>2317380
Oh sorry, that should be digitally
OK, there are many ways to approach this thing, all depends on the aesthetic you want to be presented. First, Keep doing color studies, just see what overlaying colors will do, and also think about the pressure you use to get a different colors. The dragon comes off as very very flat. So, try finding the form of the dragon. (pro tip: don't use pure black or grey for your shadows)

How do you guys scan your drawings?
I usually just take a picture from my phone, but it never comes out very well. I tried Staples, but they charged me fifteen dollars for nine drawings and had to keep it overnight. And I don't know if I'm willing to shell out for a decent photo scanner of my own.
What do you use?
>>2316049
>they charged me fifteen dollars for nine drawings
that's absurd
I use the college library scanner
>>2316069
Yeah, it especially sucked because the first time I did it it was five, then this time they said it was ten because they "used the wrong computer" last time. Then I go to pick it up and it's suddenly fifteen.
>>2316049
Go to a library, it's usually like 5 cents or something.
