Hey /his/ I'm struggling with how I should answer this question, and was hoping to get some of your thoughts on what you think it's asking for. It's for a 5000 word undergrad essay.
'Was the American Revolution really a revolution? Discuss in relations to the theories of Arendt and ----'
I've started to plan the essay around the consequences of the revolution, and evaluating the impact of it. But I think I'm reading the question wrong.
Am I right in thinking it's more of a discussion of what constitutes a revolution and discussing what features of the American Revolution fit in with the definitions?

Eastern Europe has been poor for more than since communism. It feel behind western Europe as early as the 14th century when in western Europe peasants were freed and allowed to trade and choose their profession while in eastern Europe the upper class was able to subdue the peasants even harder than before.
Then 100 years later western Europe started colonizing the world while eastern Europe stayed backwards as fuck and the inequality has only become wider since then (industrialisation in western Europe vs. ludite upperclass in Austria-Hungary and Russia preventing industrialization for more than 100 years) Communism didn't help but it's just the continuation of an older pattern in world history.

But I agree with you. Uneducated people too readily bash communism, while in many cases it improved the country in question. Communism can work, if you practice it in consideration and know when to stop. Look at China.
