Hi /his/, this is my first time posting here. Today I was discussing the topic of immortality with some friends of mine, and someone came up with the question: if you were given the chance, would you like to live forever in a young body, with the possibility of rejecting your immortality at any time? We pretty much all agreed it'd be nice to extend one's own lifespan indefinetely, but living forever would eventually become a curse, especially after all your beloved ones died.
So, what would you do if you were given that chance?

All human beings live forever, in one of two eternal destinations, and all human beings pick the one they end up in.
>>854188
Yes, many people spend their entire lives preparing themselves for their death. If can choose when that is, you can be certain you are ready.
Why would any of us ever want to be a 40 millennium old virgin?

The game was over after Manzikert. Latin and Ottoman captures of the city were just nails in the coffin

whom are you quoting
France: Prussia at it again? I'm ready for this, come here you bastard.
Russia: Oh shit, he's at it again, well good thing we have severe winters.
Great Britain: Just ignore it, and walk away... Come on Ireland, I got doggy treats back at home.
Denmark: I sure do love being the center of attention now that Prussia is invading everything.
Norway: Are you kidding me, Denmark, he's going to go for you. And then me! Baaa.
Italy: Mamma mia, pls don't step on me, Mr. Prussia.
Spain: Prussia's invading again? That's nice, but I don't care. *blows smoke upwards*
Portugal:I really hate you Spain.
Corsica and Sardinia: Excellent, now that Prussia has all eyes focused on him I can get away with pissing in this here body of water.
Austria: Ow, watch the foot. Oh dear, I'm about to fart.
Balkans: N-no, stop! FUCK MY EYES.
Turkey: You can take it, also I need more tributes by the end of this month, Balkans. *smokes hashish*
World: Stop starting world wars!
>>853197
Prussia doesn't care, Prussia doesn't give a shit, Prussia just takes what it wants.
>>853205
And the rest of the world takes whatever it wants form Prussia it seems.

Ask the chinamen on /int/
It says "thanks for the money, white boy"

First word means "Fortune," other two words are somewhat illegible.
Is your god pure ideology?
>>852646
No He is a man named Jesus Christ.
My God is beyond omnipotent transomniversal entity.

I pray to Rob, son of man.
My holy book is Blade Runner.
Rob died for us to colonize other planets.
Shit was so cash.
Was slavery in America as bad as many say?
>Slavery
>Bad
>>>/tumblr/
No only a small percentage of land owners had slaves at all, ~4% and almost all were in the south. Slaves were metaphorically high end farming equipment, why mistreat it?
>>852600
yeah I mean basically yes.
Occasionally some slave owners would be exceptionally kind but then again some would be exceptionally sadistic. Most were just bad.
Was an Inquisition progressive for its time or it was institute of repressions and unjustified witch hunting?
>>852585
supposedly before the inquisition there was a lot of inconstant and haphazard local prosecution. Or mobs would just kill any "heretics"
Not gonna defend the other things it did, but it was surprisingly little into witch hunting.
>>852585
It was to weed out jew, muslims and renegades(christians that helped the muslims) During the Reconquista
Were mercenary armies a thing?
Did medieval/renaissance nations who were at war send armies of mercenaries at other nations' mercenaries, or were paid fighters mostly used as bodyguards/rebellion-crushers while the citizens of the state in question were the ones involved in actual country-on-country combat?
>>852410
yes, see the following
http://pastebin.com/q3NKTU7J
>>852410
I don't think it was as common in the medieval era, but by the renaissance it was standard procedure to bolster your army with mercenaries.
>>852410
BANE?
Even if there was a meaning to life and the universe, Wouldn't that meaning be meaningless?
At the most fundamental level everything will always be meaningless.
>>851984
Meaning and meaningless are human value judgements. Stop being a sad sack.
>If X were true, wouldn't X be false?
The meaning of life is energy. That's it. Quit being a faggot.

Big Guy
Was Judas' betrayal necessary to fulfill scripture, or was Jesus' crucifixion and death inevitable and someone would have eventually betrayed him and Judas just jump-started things?
Seems kind of unfair if Judas is basically born to be damned.
>>851353
He chose to kill himself. Had he not and just gone into exile or something, he could've seen the Resurrection (Jesus manifested in the middle of a room so he could probably do that to a guy in a cave or something), begged for forgiveness, gotten it and become a holy Saint.
But again, he chose to kill himself.
>>851353
>Seems kind of unfair if Judas is basically born to be damned.
Calvinism is the only way to actually reconcile omniscience with free will, and it is horrifying.

lol no
> People are too stupid and greedy to stay true to the ideals of any political system for more than a few years.
> 95% of people are too uninformed to have a coherent opinion about any kind of public policy. Sexy Jane the Health Sciences major should not have a say in international diplomacy.
> The other 5% of people are only informed in certain areas and may have a coherent opinion on one or two aspects of public policy at most.
> The success of a group is primarily determined by the ability of the ruler to enforce his ideology, and is not very dependent the actual ideology itself.
> The most pure form of government is traditional centralized, authoritarian systems like oligarchy or theocracy, because those are the ones that best enable a ruler to enforce his ideology.
Other types of government will either be overthrown or degenerate into something that is in effect centralized and authoritarian.
Are these stupid opinions? Is there a name for them?
Being an edgy elitist faggot.
>>851203
Fascism.
Sounds like some arrogant elitist nonsense only someone retarded enough to think they're part of that super special 5% would evince.
Does the moral character of an orgy change when the participants wear Nazi uniforms?
Only if they're doing so erotically.
>>851183
The hell are you on about?
>>851183
Perhaps they are embracing shocking imagery to demonstrate a sublime truth regarding power differences.
What went wrong, /his/?
Austria didn't unify it
Some retard assumed unifying these vastly different peoples simply because they spoke the same language was a good idea.
