Why didnt feminism, gay rights and the such spread to Asia as ferociously as it did in the West?
Today it is seen by Western media and public, notably younger ones, a trend of following liberal ideals in terms of society.
It is understandable why these progressive ideals are not seen in China and North Korea because of their political structure, but South Korea and Japan are highly westernized. And then there's the fast growing Southeast Asian nations, the stable Central Asian republics and vast India.
So why, /his/, are these places so devoid of progressiveness in the public's opinion?
Those countries are not Western, they wear Western clothes and have a Western style government but their culture is still Asian. They don't care about individualism and personal freedom, that's a European development. Even Russia is slowly going back to Tsarism again.
East Asia was never homophobic before the western influence.

Actually I met that chinese girl when I was travelling the Middle East. Didn't get to know her too much since we were following different routes, but she was totally buttdevastated about how muslims treat women. According to her, everyone is super equal in China thanks to communism.
Now, she was probably an ignorant urban posh princess and bullshitting me. Obviously. But the mere fact that she was offended because muslims aren't feminist enough means that feminism has some presence in her country.
Can truth be found in philosophy? Can philosophical ideas be deemed 'objectively correct'?

How much would this have change ww2 and what came after it?
Would it have collapsed around time it did in our timeline if it survived world war 2?

You mean a fascist russia?
>>1309083
yes
No ww2. Only reason hitler lost was because of russia. No force in the world could destroy germany, russia and japan
What makes is the holocaust so hotly debated amongts historians with very well fleshed out arguments and reasoning whereas there tends to be a consensus on the existence and magnitude of other supposed genocides during the 20th century

>tfw my country (Portugal) doesn't have great medieval romances because there weren't any real knights around here
>tfw the only "knights" in medieval Portugal were religious fanatics (templars) and lawless bastard sons from france in search of feuds
What do you mean with romances?
>>1308947
You would have the best one if only had you accepted your rightful place as Greater Galicia, the spanish region.
Too late now :^ )

What else did you expect ? That's the alpha and omega of chivalry.
How did Mansa Musa fuck up the economy with his gold spending?
can someone explain how it worked out?
>>1308889
>How did Mansa Musa fuck up the economy with his gold spending?
Surge in gold in circulation caused the price of gold to collapse; became worthless.
>can someone explain how it worked out?
Badly. It took more than a decade for the price of gold to normalize. He tried to buy back as much gold as he could, but the damage was done and there was nothing anyone could do but wait.
He made it rain in Cairo
And had an awkward moment with the sultan since neither wanted to bow to any but Allah

I want to get into history. Where do I start?
>>1308801
It depends on what you want.
If you want a light bite-sized somewhat bias version, start with Crash Course on YouTube
If you actually want to get into the meat and potatoes, you need to read books like Guns, Germs, and Steel, etc.

This is the Yamato class battleship.
When the war was close to ending, the Yamato's crew realized the Americans would defeat their beloved Empire, so they started sailing the Yamato towards Okinawa.
The idea was that, once in shallow waters, the ship would become an unsinkable fortress, and the crew members would live off on the resources of nearby islets for the rest of their lives.
The Yamato was destroyed on its way.
It was the biggest battleship ever commisioned.

Anyone who thinks Protestants aren't the most vile form of Christianity obviously doesn't live in America
t. Atheist
History will remember Protestantism as a stepping stone on the way to atheism.
You can deny it all you want, but the same places that were the heartland of the reformation are now the most secular places in the west.
How do inhabited cities get burried. It never made sense to me that a lot of ancient cities have many layers built on top of each other.

I'd guess it has something to do with rivers building sediment layers or something.
They're like ogres.

There was not much of a regular trash service, other than dogs and pigs rooting through the trash.
So the streets built up with non organic trash.
When a building was destroyed, they did not clear the debris away, it just became the new foundation.
Do we as a people (Living in America) enjoy our social status on the pyramid of hierarchy?
Are we, like a man tossed into deep water but cannot swim, unable to adapt to a system that does not involve social heirarchy?
Without social hierarchy, would things like Hollywood still exist, or would it be replaced with a more indie-based filming enterprise?
If it is not for leverage on the pyramid of social heirarchy, what exactly is war good for?
What would life be like without a social hierarchy?
Would we as a people be unwilling to adapt to a life-style that is not based on a dog eat dog principled pyramid of heirachy?
Interesting and important questions that I'd like to discuss. Too bad that I don't live in America.
You need to explain why you think like you do, OP.
>Hollywood relies on social hierarchy
Isn't a train of thought most people understand. I don't atleast, and I obsess about social hierarchy more than the average person.
>>1308400
Your opinion matters all the same to me. Although I do live in America, I understand that collectively we are a global population.
>>1308420
I mean that Hollywood movies tend to rely on the same core-group of movie stars when in fact there are over 7 billion people in the world. It just seems like the ratio of movie stars in hollywood to people in the world is skewed. Like, would Hollywood thrive all the same if the title "movie star" wasnt so heavily assiciated with seemingly worldwide-fame?
