Has there ever been a more nightmarish religion than the Mesoamerican one? Their pantheon consists of massive reptiles, birds, jaguars, and monsters who crave human flesh and suffering. It just reads like demon worship with all of the perverse symbolic rituals.

>sacrifice thousands for Tonatiuh during eclipses so the skeletal star devils don't descend and eat everyone
>dismember young women and throw their remains from pyramids for Huitzilopochtli and Coatlicue
Any other gross ones I'm missing? Is there any reasonable explanation for why people invented and worshiped these horrifying deities for thousands of years? Did they think that these gruesome rituals were beautiful, or were they simply terrified that their monster gods would kill them all if they didn't carry these things out?

Let's say that WWII ended with all of Europe unified under Nazism and a stalemate reached with America and Russia. Would Nazi Germany have been able to create the Aryan utopia they envisioned at this point in history? Was it all just an unobtainable fantasy from the beginning?

Hell no.
Bear in mind, a "stalemate" with the U.S., given the German lack of projecting force to America proper, ends with the Americans eventually realizing they can't topple the Nazi regime after delivering several nukes a month once October 45 or so rolls around.
What they'd have, assuming they somehow made it this far, is an empire of radioactive ruins.

why cant the supposed god of the universe assume a physical form? why cant he reveal himself to his creatures?
in the old testament, god did not convey his commandments directly to Abraham, he instead left 2 stone tablets with the commandments written on them. why?
in the new testament, instead of god directly telling man that they are sinners and should repent, he sends his supposed son to spread his teachings, even if they might become lost in translation. why?
in the Quran, instead of Allah conveying his will directly to Mohammed, he sends the archangel Gabriel. why?
why cant an almighty god present himself to his creation? is there something keeping him from that, if not, then just why?

As far as religious doctrine goes, it's pretty standard for an Abrahamic religion.
As for secular power, it lead to one of the greatest empires in history.
