Do intentions matter?
>>1372486
yup

When judging the morality of an action, no. When judging the morality of a person, yes.
Okay, /his/, what does this fucker specifically mean when he talks about techne and poiesis? What are both specifically and how are they connected?
>>1372415
Anyone?
Techne is artisanship, poiesis is simply work.
A person who has techne can build a building, AND knows why it doesn't fall apart.
A person who simply has poiesis simply knows how to build a building with no knowledge of why it works.

Thank you, kind anon!
At the time of independence, Mexico stretched from a border with Gran Colombia in the south, to what is now the US state of Oregon. If the Mexican-American war had never happened, and Mexico had retained it's northern territories which happened to have a massive amount of natural resources hidden beneath the surface, could Mexico had become a rival of the United States? Would Mexico be a world power, or would it still be backwards and poor?

What's the lowdown on The Troubles?
Was the IRA driven by communist elements, celtic jealousy or genuine persecution?
National determinism, the desire to be free from foreign tyranny and oppression, etc
>>1372279
But a united Ireland would mean the protestants would feel oppressed right?
Niggers of Europe

Did anything ever happen with Lithuania that's even slightly interesting. Who gives a fuck about Lithuania?
They were one of the last places in Europe to Christianize, so that's pretty neat.

We can't prove (yet) a God doesn’t exist (actually "isn't", since he was before existance). The real question is: if he exists (is) why should he be a moral entity?
You mean why should we expect them to be conform to our moral values or why should their moral values be taken as objectively correct or superior to ours by default?

Because the structure of our physical existence is built on laws. Logos is the very first thing in our world.
Human society has a fundamental structure as well which brings peace, stability, and a healthy life to those who abide by it. Humans have the ability to disregard this and act in an immoral way.

No
Am I the only one who gets severely depressed whenever he contemplates European history? I look at this continent of grand nations, Great Men and titanic achievement, but what I don't see in it is a future. We spent centuries fighting eachother for small scraps of European land, establishing colonies around the world and for what? All of it is lost now, each European nation more irrelevant than the other. And in terms of territory and demographics we're negligible and others will surpass us. What are we before the might of the USA, Russia, China and soon India and perhaps even Brazil, Mexico and some of the major African countries? Everything will be for nought, and the rulers wil become the ruled.
Even this EU project, one with a bigger chance of failing than succeeding, would not see us surpass China, India, the US and perhaps even Russia in the long run. On top of that even if the EU succeeds, it is not based for any love of European identities but hatred of it. A combination of mass migration and Americanization will destroy our identities and replace it with some non-offensive globalized identity.
This, the constant fear that Europe will no longer matter in the future, is perhaps the biggest reason that I believe Napoleon should've won, that it was a cruel twist of fate that the Russian invasion ended so horribly. Had it gone different, we as unified Europeans with a clear, unified culture would look back upon the Napo-.. Great Wars of European Unification in the same way the Chinese as one people look back at the Three Kingdoms period.
I can't be alone in this melancholy, right?
Why would you want European territorial aggrandisement at the expense of European culture? Best case scenario imo is an isolationist, cultural nationalist Europe in which states focus on the welfare of their own people.
Empire was a mistake. Immigration was a mistake. The EU was a mistake.

Tbh, Europe being in any sort of lead position in the world was luck to begin with, don't be sad that it is gone, smile because it happened.

What does this even mean? Is it subtle b8?
Is there anyone on youtube similar to lindybeige but with actual knowledge about the topics they talk about?
Does a day go by where /his/ does not talk about lindybeige?
>>1371121
It started with Lindybeige himself shilling his videos, one thread every other week, then, recently, his droning followers spam him of their own volition due to unconscious conditioning by Lindybeige's own shilling.

Matt Easton is the man you are looking for
Have you ever done any ancestry research?
I decided to follow my family name and patriline and ended up all the way back to 1630s Salem, MA. after my 10x great grandfather came over from England. He was killed in an Indian raid, and his wife supposedly was a Quaker that protested the Puritan church by stripping naked in public (part of the so called "Naked Quakers") and got whipped for it. Some women with my name (though I haven't been able to connect them to my line) were accused of witchcraft during the trials, but released. My 5x great grandfather fought in the revolutionary war and was a potter. His son possibly fought in the war of 1812 but the only record I've found were orders to report to militia at the time. My 3x great grandfather fought in the civil war, and he worked in a shoe factory. I found a picture of his son, my great-great grandfather, taken in 1872.
This was all pretty cool to me since I just assumed my family came in the 19th century immigration waves.
What have you found out about your family history?
Any tips on how best to research this stuff?

Check out your city website or local library. My city council for example runs a monthly genealogy workshop. You'd be surprised at the amount of information you can learn if you just look for it.
Dad's side came over to the States in 1925 from Ireland, where they had been since the 11th century. Mom's side was also from Ireland, came to Quebec in the 1850s and moved to the US in the 1910s

I'll have to check that out. There's a lot more that I want to find out.

Did photorrealistic art only developed in Europe?
No it predominantly developed in the United States in the 60s

Paintings? I think so. Statues definitely not
