What if the Americans lost the war for independence? Would they have just tried another war or gone the Canada approach?
>>1369609
The world would never see or experience freedom like today ...God bless America!
>>1369609
It's hard to figure how they'd lose without securing at least some privileges. Even if the continental army gets crushed, Washington gets hanged, etc. you're still talking about trying to occupy a country that's some 30 times the size of England at least. Just the cost of sending a thin leaven of troops to keep an eye on everything would be much more than the 13 colonies were worth.
>>1369609
Two ways this could happen
1. Parliament issues an apology and gives the colonists representation in parliament.
2. The colonies, now devastated from an exceedingly long war, concede defeat and become easy prey in their weakened state to Indian raids. British North America becomes an economic backwater as it never expands past the Appalachians.

Were the conspirators justified?
For what reasons did Brutus, Cassius, Cicero, etc., so adamantly oppose Caesar?
Were the Roman people on the side of Caesar before his assassination?
Was Caesar are better ruler than the SPQR?
Also, what right did Caesar have to cross the Rubicon and impose himself on Rome?
Were the people better off under the Republic or the Empire?
What were public morals like immediately before the collapse of the Republic? Did the Empire increase Roman civic virtue or decrease it?

>For what reasons did Brutus, Cassius, Cicero, etc., so adamantly oppose Caesar?
The general opinion at the time was that Caesar fancied himself as king, although whenever he had a chance he denied such claims (usually because the crowd was always silent when the idea of a king was brought up)
The Republic always had great disdain for monarchy.
>Were the Roman people on the side of Caesar before his assassination?
Before and after, Rome was thrown into a civil war involving Caesar's adopted son Octavian (Augustus Caesar), Mark Antony, and the liberators (the conspirators) with the Senate backing Octavian.
>Was Caesar are better ruler than the SPQR?
While he only reigned as dictator in perpetuity for about a year he brought many reforms.
>Also, what right did Caesar have to cross the Rubicon and impose himself on Rome?
Caesar must of been at least a little desperate, he was going back to Rome as either king of the castle or not at all.
>Were the people better off under the Republic or the Empire?
The late republic was a cesspit of corruption,
The Grachi brothers and others were the first signs that the republic was falling, Caesar was the killing blow.
>What were public morals like immediately before the collapse of the Republic? Did the Empire increase Roman civic virtue or decrease it?
Well Augustus instituted many morality laws, like banning adultery for example these were viewed with mixed opinion and adultery was still very common.
>>1369073
>Also, what right did Caesar have to cross the Rubicon and impose himself on Rome?
>right
What right does anyone have to lead? He wanted the role and he took it.
Has it ever been different? Whether by social or political graces or by physical and martial intimidation someone always uses their resources to dominate. There is no justice in it past the pragmatic view of which leader would best promote the prosperity and longevity of his people. Plenty of assholes with no right to anything raped and pillaged their way to power and their victims lineages were better for it in the long run.
Historically speaking, what makes these two nations such great friends and allies?

Were there any superstitions for/against Left-Handed People?
Asking this because I watched an episode of American Dad a few years back and the mom there grew up in a catholic orphanage run by nuns and spanked her whenever she used her left hand, making her a righty.
>>1368925
The Aztecs believed that a left handed warrior literally had superpowers.
Because most cunts trained to fight versus normally right handed people and here comes a chump with his Macahuitl in the "wrong" hand, screwing up everything you ever trained for.
I recall similar stories with the result of making one ambidexterous.
It has nothing to do with theology, and everything to do with the purpose of education, and discipline, being conformity.
>>1368933
Which is sort of incredibly seeing how one in ten people is left-handed.

could one of you guys point me in the direction of the best damned biography on my main man right here, George Washington?
I'm talking like Andrew Roberts' Napoleon good.

The all time best biography on him is Washington by Ron Chernow. It's lengthy but unbelievably good.

I've never read Napoleon, but I'm reading Ellis' His Excellency: George Washington right now and it's pretty comprehensive. Give it a try too, OP.

I don't know much of the specifics of the civil war, but if the South was successful in their push for independence, I think they'd end up as an English speaking Brazil.

We all know you think that, because you post it in every single thread about the Civil War.
Let's look at these four Jew cult creators
(although Abraham probably isn't a historical figure so let's just focus on Paul, Mohammed, and Joseph).
If they were to be brought to the present day how would they likely feel about how their cults turned out?
Paul would probably be baffled and angry that gay people are accepted, and that the world is even still around.
Mohammed would probably not be too pissed off. After all, he was a conqueror.
Joseph would not be able to stop laughing. "What a joke I pulled!" he would exclaim, struggling to wipe the hysterical tears from his eyes.
>>1368206
Joseph didn't exist
Reminder that if you aren't Mormon, you are not a God fearing American patriot.
Mormon's have the best families, the best girls, and the best meme's.
Joseph would be proud.
How old is globalism? Some Orthodox identify the Tower of Babel with globalism, and this Orthodox article identifies the globalism of the EU with the Catholic Church, which in a way was the cause of the schism: http://www.events.orthodoxengland.org.uk/on-conquering-nationalism-and-globalism/
