Was the failure of the Pearl Harbor attack the BIGGEST military fuck-up ever, even more so than diverting the tanks in Barbarossa?
>>1427062
>... the failure of the Pearl Harbor attack...
HOW WAS THE ATTACK A FAILURE, ACCORDING TO YOU?
>>1427164
Because it led to the japs getting violated in every orifice for half a decade.
>>1427062
No, there were way bigger ones.
> even more so than diverting the tanks in Barbarossa?
Assuming you're talking about Kiev, that was the right move. The mistake was going back to Moscow once they demolished the pocket. Taking Moscow didn't win the war for Napoleon and it wouldn't win the war for Hitler. Keep pushing in the south.
>>1427164
By what possible measure could it possibly be considered a success? It set up the very strategic considerations that eliminated any tactical impact it might have had, and severely damaging 4 obsolescent BB is hardly war-winning against a country that has another 13 to throw immediately and more under construction, (some very near to finishing)
If in a country the two leading ideals are freedom and democracy, what happens if it's democratically decided to end freedom?
there Is no such thing as freedom unless you live in the woods alone.
YOU can only pick and choose from what is provided to you.
You end freedom for the people who want to end freedom.
That way they get what they want, a dictatorship, and everyone else gets what they want, a democracy.
>>1427072
If you live alone in the forest, you cant eat snickers bars, only what the forest can provide to you.

>66. Napoleon and Hitler: two faces of the same coin, with devastation following at the end in either case. Why the extra hatred for the latter? Partly the far greater scale and scope of WWII over the Napoleonic Wars, partly the increased power in the means of war and the ensuing devastation, partly Jewish lies and propaganda. That no one studies history any more and therefore has no clue who Napoleon was and more importantly what he did, is not exactly helping either.
What did he mean by this?
>>1426873
Some fag playing blame games that no one should care about.
>>1426873
People are stupider in the 21st and 20th century then in the 19th century therefore making the, more susceptible to propaganda.
>man who deliberately killed noncombatants on an industrial scale
>man who did not
>why don't people view them the same
If you think that the Holocaust never happened, just substitute Poles, Gypsies, gays, mental patients, or Russian POWs.

Foucault got the better of it I'd say. But so did Zizek... and ZIzek is a fucking memelord.
Why didn't the Silk Road reach Japan? Would it have made a significant difference in Japan's development if it did?
>>1426683
>Why didn't the Silk Road reach Japan?
If they traded with China, then it did.
>>1426683
They were part of it. Why do you think the Dutch and Moors stopped there?
But extremely insignificant.
>>1426698
Did Moors stop in Japan? I'd like to read about that. As for the Dutch and other westerners, the first time I heard about them landing in Japan were in ship wrecks, so they weren't exactly trying to stop there. Did they stop there before?
I was reading Dostoevsky and one of the characters says of another character that he is "Raw material for the revolution". The book was published in 1880, so I got to wondering. Was the coming Russian revolution so obvious? Dostoevsky was not the only one to predict or mention a coming revolution within Russia. The way that it's mentioned is so casual that it's almost as if it was already a foregone conclusion decades before it actually happened.
How did so many people know that the revolution was coming so long before it actually happened? Was Russian society on the verge of a revolution for decades?
Jesus Christ you american guy.
From 1860-s till october revolution the society was fucked and full of discontent.
Dekabrists Master race. Also Russian nihilism Master race. The whole period was a clusterfuck.

You didn't forget going to Church today, did you, peasantcuck? What, you did? You had a late harvest this year you say. Well, too bad peasantcuck, you won't be going to heaven if you keep missing Mass like this.
Anyway/ Another day, another shilling. Now back to those fields.

Kek has revealed himself to us and is a truer god than the God of Abraham.
He does not require his followers to attend church.
>>1426613
Kek is a demon born of humanity's desire for its own destruction. It spreads death and chaos wherever its followers point it.

>i don't like the time we are in..
No, you don't like yourself. But you'd still be you, even without indoor plumbing.
enjoy getting your shit pushed in by every civilized country for being such backwater chimps
>>1426533
Does that mean that when you died before this life, you chose to live in this time, only to spend your life whining about how much you want to live in another time?
People are never satisfied.
How did they do it?
>>1426364
they where absolute madmen
>>1426364
>implying they're the ones who did it
The French and the Prime Minister.
What was their life like in times of peace? Did they go around trying to start shit out of boredom or necessity?
>>1426349
They could be garrison or occupying troops.
France had many swiss mercenaries on hire for protection duty, even in times of peace.
>times of peace
>Europa
There was no time of peace.
The thirty year war was utterly apocalyptic and the most dangerous and horrible thing you could encounter as a peasant or civilian were dismissed mercenaries/Landsknechte who needed money and food because they blew their money on fancy cloth and gambling (As was totally logically because they could die everyday) and the food was scarce because so mayn people died that fieldwork was disrupted in many places.
Dehumanisation and roving bands of raiders searching for human prey or another warlord or passing army to offer their skills were the result.
Read Peter Hagenstolz's Diary if you want to know more.
This is my Lord and Saviour.
The atheist/theist debate has stooped so low that this thread is now the norm. I am blessed by Dawkins for being able to live in such times.
Did any Indonesian empire or kingdom ever go and explore Australia? They lay so close together it seems alomst impossible that they didn't know that there was such a large land mass so close to them?
Anybody know anything about this?

I live in Far-North QLD and we would see him walking literally in the middle of buttfuck nowhere with thousands of kilometers between towns.
He crafted his own boat by hand out of a log and sailed to PNG, he fucked up and had to be saved by the tribespeople there.
I think he is in an old peoples home, we dont see him walking around anymore.
