Why were Ancient people so brutal?
I always thought that only white people invented slavery and genocide but when I open the bible it is full with it.
This doesn't fit the narrative of the peaceful, nature-loving people at all who existed before white people started turning the world to hell.
Simply epic

nature is brutal

Now that the dust has settled, can we safely say that secularism was a failure?
No.
In fact, we need even MORE secularism!
Fire the anti-church ray!
Nigga what? Secular States are objectively the best nations in the world.
The middle east, Africa, and south America are the least secular and what a surprise those are all the shit holes in the world.
Compare the secular and non-secular states. Tell me which one are the shitholes
ITT: What does /his/ think of anarchy and where could it work, some records have shown that it worked in ukraine as the Revolutionary Insurrectionary Army of Ukraine

>What does /his/ think of anarchy
Horrible, literally a curse and an insult to civilized people.
>and where could it work
Some place where there are only anarchists who also happen to productive members of society.
It's a neat idea whose time may come soon with technological change, but (like other centenarian ideologies) it suffers from a community that values historical recapitulation over adaptation and currentness.
>>1422886
The problem with Anarchy is that a state with a military complex is required to defend itself, which the Ukrainians figured out when the Soviets invaded.
My friend traced back his ancestry and found out he is part Irish from the Loftus Family.
He found his coat of arms and were wondering what the markings on it stand for.
Could a /his/torian help us decipher what it means?
>>1422879
Those coat of arms websites are a scam.
>>1422879
I'm pretty sure 90% of these heraldic crests that aren't actually associated with real historical nobility were made by opportunists trying to sell shitty mugs and t-shirts to Americans.

Which fallacy does the first reply exhibit? Fallacy of composition, fallacy of association, hasty generalization, some kind of confusion of sufficiency and necessity fallacy?..... "It did not happen to me, therefore it doesn't happen." what an asshole
You should be concentrating on the post by Trump, and the original post of this thread, which are textbook examples of the Faggot OP Fallacy.

Would you classify the first statement as true?
>>1422027
Nothing is True is supposed to contradict itself into getting you to test everything, even the statement itself, do be discerning of truth.
Taking it as a renouncing of objective truth is retarded and completely missing the point
>>1422027
Obviously not. Nothing is true, therefore, everything is permitted.

Has there ever been a successful government that has been far left/progressive?
As only a casual reader of history, it seems to me all populist or "people's" movements all eventually implode because the ideology is inherently self-defeating. Am I missing something?
Also, I don't want to make this a modern "left vs right" debate, please. this isn't /pol/.
>>1421851
Define successful, far-left, and progressive.
There are plenty of very famous reformers that fit into the Whig historical narrative.
>>1421851
Bismarcks Germany
>>1421851
>far left/progressive
The problem is that today's definition of "left/progressive" is entirely different from that of history. A libertarian is often times considered to be right-wing today, yet libertarianism was extremely leftwing/progressive when it was founded during the Enlightenment. Therefore, this whole dichotomy is stupid and serves no purpose other than fooling the populace into picking left or right.
The United States and the French Republic both considered themselves to be leftist states. The US obviously strayed off course in the early 1900's, and France had a lot of ups and downs. Nevertheless, they both experienced periods of success and were considered to be leftist.
Why I don't consider the Armenian Genocide, a genocide.
> The Ottomans sided with the Germans, German defeat left the Ottomans in shambles.
> Allies conspired to use the nationalist tendencies within the Ottoman Empire to destroy it.
> Under Sevres, the Turkish people would have no nation, Anatolia would be colonized by Europe.
> Christian minorities of the Ottoman Empire, were encourage to rebel, and were given support to do so.
> Assertion that Armenians were unarmed is a joke.
> Armenians joined with the Russian forces, and grouped into guerrilla bands.
> They attacked the Turkish Army in the rear, even before the Russo-Armenian forces arrived, they succeeded in capturing Van, massacred its entire Muslim population, razed the entire city.
> They then proceeded to “soften up” the area, and in the process killed thousands of Turks and Kurds. There was a massive flow of refugees into Central Anatolia, who survived under extremely harsh conditions.
> The Army was being attacked by Russo-Armenian forces in the North and Armenian guerrillas in the South.
> Armenian communities who appeared uninvolved in the fighting, in fact were providing food, shelter and new recruits to the guerrillas.
> Ottomans decided to relocate the Armenian communities to Syria, Lebanon and Iraq
> Ottoman soldiers were ordered to escort the Armenians and protect them from any vigilantes.
> Most Armenian casualties occurred in regions where Ottoman control was the weakest. Many Turks and Muslims also died from the same causes, which was disease.
> The onset of the Russian Revolution forced the retreat of the Russo-Armenian forces to what is currently Armenia.
> During this retreat, many atrocities were committed against Turks and Kurds, including the burning of mosques full of women.
Thus, there was neither any planned execution of Armenians, nor such an intention. Even the Clinton Administration continues to back the Turkish people on this issue.
The roaches are mighty active today.
Any link about that van massacre?
All i find is Turks massacring Armeniansl.
