everyone loves joseph, he was descended from king david, shut the fuck up. i would rather raise god's son than my own, too. fucking heretic. get fucking smote by the edge of my sword.
>cuckdom is actually a central part of christianity
that explains alot
A religion based on holy cuckoldry birthed a cucked civilization.
Who would have figured?
Was the civil war really about 'State's rights'?
no, it was about whitey killin whitey so I could go and fuck yo great great grandmama boi
>>1802495
Yeah it was. Mainly about their rights to deprive rights from millions of people
>>1802517
>people
You're using that word prety liberally

You must be American.
How did the British empire lose the American colonies? I mean, couldn't they just send more and more troops until the rebellion is crushed?
It's a for profit enterprise. If you're losing money, you're not going to keep at it.
Also, the French were also fucking with the British.
>>1802256
Back in the day wars were no fought through Europa Universalis.
The American Revolution was just one front in a worldwide war between Britain and France.
What would modern day Russia be like if Novgorod had united them instead of Muscowy?
>>1802240
The Slavic world would've been largely united under their leadership.Novgorod is basically the only East Slavic city which has retained it's system of "tribal democracy".
If Novgorod is the "new city" what was the old city?
I can't imagine a good Russia.
Knights were useless piles of shit why kings even bothered with them?
>almost every crusade was a failure

Because of the Feudal arrangement of society. As the Feudal structure declined, so did the presence - and even existence - of knights.
For example, knights did not exist in the Byzantine Empire, since there was never a devolution into Feudalism, save for the interregnum following 1204.
>>1802214
>got Mongol'd
It's more like the mongols got BLEACHED.
>>1802231
>knights did not exist in the Byzantine Empire, since there was never a devolution into Feudalism
"serve as cavalry in exchange for land" was a really, really fucking common arrangement in the empire, as was "serve as infantry in exchange for land" or "be the general in this border region in exchange for land, summon X number of men when called."
The theme system was essentially feudal, they just retained a separate, professional corp of soldiers to supplement it all.
The Irish race are the best thing to happen to this earth. We have contributed the most to the world through literature, science, philosophy and mathematics. We have the most intelligent posters in all of /his/ and the far reaches of 4chan.
Me? Why yes I am the archetypal Celtic male. I am tall. Barrel chested. Strong. Prominent jawline and cheekbones. Plenty of facial and body hair. Bushels of fiery red hair upon my head, blue eyes.
I have inherited both the martial and poetic intellect spirit of my Celtic ancestors.

I don't know, but I can't actually comprehend the sense of destruction and death that happened in those 6 years. Like I'm sitting here in my home, all comfortable and there was some poor guy drafted from his family sent to die for no good reason other than to ''stop evil nazis''.
>>1802030
Life has no meaning other than the one you choose, at least they die for something, at the end, will you be able to say "i die but i die for something worth it" anon?
>>1802086
lol. I'm sure the guys who were dying on the Normandy beaches were thinking "totally worth it, bro!".
It's simple, people in the 40s weren't as soft and weak as you are.
If you're a former atheist who found God (Christian, Hindu, the philosophers' God, esoteric, mystic, whatever), please post your story here. I'll read every post in this thread.

I'm a fence-sitter and have always been one.
There have been eerie moments of coincidence though which made me contemplate metaphysics and the existence of a higher plane of being.
One such example is me praying to a saint, then reading an unrelated comic which mentions some godforsaken German smalltown somewhere in the Ruhr agglomeration. A day later, I am searching for churches dedicated to said saint and the first church bearing his name is that godforsaken German smalltown.
Make of that what you want. It was a weird coincidence at least and a minor miracle at best.

When I was little, around 6th grade when we started learning about Greek mythology and early Western civ I started wondering, "why are there so many different religions? How could there be so many if one was right?"
Obviously to young boys these things don't really matter, so the thought was there but didn't really mean much
In about 8th grade one kid openly said he was an atheist. He was openly chastised and bullied for it. I had nothing to do with it but thence forward I started learning more and more about humanity outside my little suburban town, beyond the broad generalizations in school.
Now early on I did attend catholic school, but my parents stopped and by 8th grade all my friends were having these "confirmations" or whatever you call them, about most of the grade in about one week, but not me. It made me feel slightly more of an outsider, but I'm sure this exclusion I felt existed only in my head.
About 9th grade hit (bad time in my life) and the idea of religion seemed so fallacious I went full swing into atheism, saying stupid stuff like "god is fake" and the like. Maybe it was an act of rebellion, maybe it was a distraction from me being a moody 14 year old, who knows.
Come 10th grade, I was going through some hard times. So hard I actually went back to religion to try and cope, to give me hope against the despair and fear I felt almost every day. Possibly the worst time of my life drew me closer back to religion, I'm sure I'm one of million of cases.
Come 11th grade and things start rapidly to improve, a lot of my prior fears and problems were acquiesced and I go back to my atheist phase. I'm no longer vocal or even representative of it however, I avoid the topic even to this day.
Cmme senior year I start exploring my family's past, specifically my father's side of the family. My mother raised me initially, and from a Spaniard culture obviously tried to raise me catholic until she abandoned us.
>>1801927
So senior year I start exploring and trying out Judaism. I'm neither vocal about it or even willing to discuss it back then, but I wear my star of david pendant under my shirt most of the time, gifted by my jewish grandmother.
I didn't have much of a penchant for religious practice and scripture, so come college I identify as jewish but never openly practice or that stuff. I tried going to a Jewish Student Organization on my college campus but they were so cringey and alien in my perception I never went. Maybe if I stayed things would be different.
Two years later, now I find myself more embracive of Buddhist principles and philosophy.
I wish I could write up a neat ending but there isn't one, and perhaps won't ever be. Every day is different and changes one, even if in the most minute amount.
This is my story so far anon, at 20 years old. I hope it met your expectations
How common was friendly fire in WW2?
Also what happened to the soldiers who accidentally killed someone on their own side? Would they just pass it off as ''shit happens'' or would they get psychiatric help? I can't imagine how it would feel to shoot your friend or fellow countrymen by mistake.
>>1801850
>psychiatric help
Relatively new thing that militaries didnt have time or money to care about in the largest war the world has ever seen
>>1801861
So they just left them to deal with it themselves?
>>1801865
I doubt it was something that happened very often with infantry. Maybe with artillery or airstrikes, where it could be feasibly easy to kill allies
Also there was a fuck huge war going on
Also no one cared about mental illness/psychiatry until much later
Even now it sits on the backburner
Also I doubt kids who shot their fellow soldiers would say anything about it, if it was on purpose at all
Also men didnt talk about their feelings n shit until recently
How long would a victorious Nazi Germany have survived post war? Let's say they defeat Russia and white peace with the Allies sometime in 43-44.
>>1801703
Civil War when Hitler dies between various factions
Forever, their energy manipulating telepathic Super-Men will be able to fulfill every wish of the Immortal Chancellor Adolf Hitler. How these quasi-divine beings came into being is explained via the same methods a German victory came to be sometime in 43-44.
>>1801721
It's quite possible they could have defeated Russia if you tweak things a little-no delay in Barbarossa, no Kiev pocket, little bit better supply situation. They were within 11 miles of Moscow.
One of the more telling signs of the decline of Christianity is evident in that even most Christians themselves don't even believe that God can actually answer prayers.
Notice the shift in Christianity from the historically prevalent "God answers prayers" attitude [as reflected in a number of Biblical passages, such as 'Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours'; 'And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.'] towards the relatively recent and modern attitude that prayers cannot "coerce" God. As a former Catholic, I can attest that clergy very much discourage the idea of prayer as a means to obtain/achieve a result, instead promoting prayer as a way to look inward and cultivate certain values or viewpoints (so long as they align with orthodox/accepted thought) ; but this itself is a modern invention, a way for Christians to backtrack, since believers noticed prayers weren't particularly answered, and those that supposedly were were of a trivial nature or one which could have occurred due to random chance or outside factors (but no actual 'miracles' - no amputees growing back a leg).
>kicking on those already down
come on now, I am sure they will be able to muster a Crusade of the remaining Maltese population against the superior winning Muslims in the year 2150 or so
d-deus vult!
>>1801620
>[citation needed]
>>1801620
>Christians don't believe that God can answer prayers
Anyone who denies this isn't a Christian.
I think you mean
>there are Christians who don't believe that God CHOOSES to answer prayers
that's true. it's also not in accordance with Christian theology.
>clergy discourage prayer as a means to obtain/achieve a result
This has been standard advice going back to the foundations of Christianity. To know why, you have to read the two verses before Mark 11:24 that you quoted.
>22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Such gifts from God are only granted to those with perfect faith.
You don't know what you're talking about.
>"Communism sounded good on paper!"
>doesn't have a market price system
Communism never worked for a reason, senpaitachi. It's inherently flawed.
b-but muh property-free utopia
>"anime sounded good on paper!"
>doesn't have a long term counter-neet system

Communism never worked because autists changed Marx's theory in an attempt to force it without the required prerequisites.
Communism can only come through Capitalism, it's not an alternative but rather a proposed end result.
Hello /his/, could you give me some examples of moral statements and beliefs?
What does it mean for something to be a 'moral statement'?
il bumpo
H-h-hello?
>>1801564
Murder is wrong.
Rape is wrong.
Stealing is wrong.
Lieing is wrong.
Causing suffering is wrong.
To stray from God's light is wrong.
To stray from natural law is wrong.
To stray from man's law is wrong.
These are all moral statements.
To say "utilitarism is wrong" or "virtue ethics is wrong" (for instances) is not to make a moral statement but to make a statement on morality, a second order claim.
