Do people from big nations learn history focused on their region? I specifically mean nations that weren't unified for most of their history, like Germany or Italy.

Germany here.

History Class for german stuff started with Bismark. We did speak about the revolution(s) in 1848/49 very briefly.

no ancient or medieval topics whatsoever sadly.

But I did learn about the third Reich three times. (6th, 10th and 12th grade)

Is Sanskrit the greatest language ever devised?

Sanskrit scholar here.

Quite easily the most difficult language ever. Shits all over Ancient Greek.
>>
>>2203802
Difficulty means nothing.
>>
>>2203809
Sure it does.

Sanskrit was too difficult even for natives, hence the development of the Prakrits like Pali and Hindi.

Sanskrit was like the Ithkuil of its day.

JUST

Nobody ever got eclipsed harder than the Achaemenids. Despite the fact that they played an integral part of reigniting the torch of civilization after the bronze age collapse, and made up 44% of the worlds total human population, they had the misfortune of being conquered by the Greatest General Who Ever Lived.

Today barely anybody knows of them, and even the most racially masochistic leftists, if they acknowledge they were there at all, refer to them as nothing but a bunch of barbarians with sticks. Likely stemming from their pathological desire to sling mud onto the glory achieved by Alexander in conquering them.

Does history repeat itself?
Post your opinions and examples you can think of here

Here's a video that compares the history of Rome to the history of USA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCvyg679bsg [Embed]

If this mirroring keeps up, then within the next 50 years,
we'll get some sort of situation where someone tries to gain more political power than they're supposed to, and is assassinated

Either way, the subject is "does history repeat itself?"
So if you're gonna contribute to it, please share examples of it having repeated, how you predict the future based on the past, or your view on why it does not repeat itself
>>
>>2203748
General rule - decreasing of number of independent states and growth of empires - is actually repeating.

By being a finally united "nomadic" people. Nomads are fucking S tier warriors/expansionists OP. History shows this time and again. They're a non concern most of the time, because they're too busy fighting each other to focus on a singular goal, but every now and again, when the stars align, a person (or people) come along and whips everyone into shape, and whenever that happens shit has literal global consequences. See PIE, Huns, Arabs, and Mongols.

>At Google's Zeitgeist Conference in 2011, Hawking said that "philosophy is dead". He believes that philosophers "have not kept up with modern developments in science" and that scientists "have become the bearers of the torch of discovery in our quest for knowledge". He said that philosophical problems can be answered by science, particularly new scientific theories which "lead us to a new and very different picture of the universe and our place in it".[287]

What did he mean by this?

That Humanities majors are a bunch of salty fags who can't get over the fact some smart fella insulted their meme education.
>>
He refers to the tendency of older philosophies to answer questions and categorize known and supposed information. That is to say they are running out of different names to call the same thing.

The sciences on the other hand have the luxury of assigning new names to new things, which keeps things fresh.

Honestly, I find some of the linguistics, and especially the linguistic focus, fascinating. I'm still not entirely sure why the various authors felt the need to explain etymologies of names and places, which were presumably well known to the intended audience anyway.

I think Jesus' message was just a more extreme interpretation of the law of the old testament, in that you were expected to embody the ideas behind the law, rather than just follow its commands. I think however that it was an incorrect interpretation, and that the current legalism that Jews are sometimes criticized for is more correct (you were expected to love God, but I think loving God was expressed first and foremost by following the law and thinking that his laws were something you ought to follow).

I also think that the more gentile-friendly elements of Christianity are largely from Paul, and that the other writers were more Judaic in character.

I also take from Ecclesiastes that man has been grappling with nihilism since long before Nietzsche's "death of God."
