>Police in Australia and Europe were aware of a paedophile site called the Love Zone hidden in the so-called dark web. It was protected by passwords, encryption and specialist software. Users were totally anonymous. . . Officers with Task Force Argos in Australia knew the creator of the site used an unusual greeting - the word "hiyas". After exhaustively trawling chatrooms and forums in the open internet, they found a Facebook page of a man who used the same greeting. Although the Facebook page was fake, they identified a picture of a vehicle and that led them to a man called Shannon McCoole - a child care worker in Adelaide
Did the cops seriously isolate this guy with the word "hiyas?"
And how'd a fake profile lead them to the right man anyways?
>that face
>Did the cops seriously isolate this guy with the word "hiyas?"
Probably. I'm surprised they even had to go that far.
>And how'd a fake profile lead them to the right man anyways?

If the profile had pictures of him and his car how was it fake? Did someone else inexplicably make a profile of this guy using his own pictures?
So with the RX 480 set to absolutely rape nvidia senseless along with all the yet to be released cards being available in the next few months, I think I'm going to wait until the dust settles and prices tank to make a final decision on what I want to buy as a long term card.
In the meantime, I'm on a shit-tier Acer piece of shit laptop with a 760m that gets as hot as a broiler and stutters in CSGO (which incidentally is pretty much the only game I play atm). I've been wanting to bite the bullet for months now and sell this turd and build a cheap desktop, with a used average card as a placeholder until the new ones comes out.
Basically I'm looking for something ridiculously cheap, maybe $50-100 (so probably AMD?) that can run CSGO and maybe Overwatch. Yes, I'm a casual. What's the best price/performance pick of the old generations?
With CSGO the sky really is the limit. Do you want 60fps? 80? 100? 150? 200? 300? 400? 500fps? Don't mean to be rude but it's a pretty shit question.
>>54866703
Just a solid 60. I wouldn't even be mad if it dipped a bit below that, since currently I'm doing slightly below that anyway
>>54866725
GTX 480 with a Core2 Duo @ 3GHZ with 4GB ram will probably run you over budget a little but will be comfy as fuck in CSGO

So I fell for the Linux meme a few months ago on my old laptop just to check it out. I barely use it and would like to reinstall Windows 8 on it again so that I can have a backup laptop for work. I think I may have overwritten the entire windows 8 OS and can't find any of the original files. The laptop in question is an HP Envy TouchSmart which I bought in 2014. Wondering if the windows 8 install prompt is still hidden somewhere on this thing, and if so, how can I find it? Not a big deal if I can't... but any help is appreciated.
I like Mint but it's not friendly for my work stuff.
>>54866534
If you're lucky, your windows key may be embedded in your laptop's acpi.
If that's the case, you can probably just pick up an iso from Microsoft's site and reinstall without any issues.
>>54866585
What is ACPI? And how would I go about recovering it if it exists?
> using Linux for anything work-related
Linux is a fucking meme OS, can't do productivity, gaming, or run literally any enterprise program.
So it's gonna be my senior year of Computer Science, I have no internship experience and no projects I've worked on. How do I redeem myself so I don't end up jobless.
well that depends...
are you a virgin?
does your institute have a CompSci club? Regardless, I'd try to start networking with other Computer Science majors and anyone else in that lane as soon as possible if I were you. And if possible, do what you mentioned (internship experience and projects) now, before it's too late. Given your time constraint, you're probably gonna have to kiss a lot of ass. But hey, it'll pay off when you get offers and end up with a job, or at least some experience.

Is this a pirates of silicon valley reference?
>>54866589
No, I tried to start one but people weren't willing to fill in the office positions. I'm gonna try it again next year and just give people titles while I do all the work.
I'm not sure what kind of project I can work on that would be good for my resume. I guess I could try my hand at Unity
What measures are there that I can utilize which will prevent Microsoft from force upgrading my PC? I've been seeing/hearing people getting fucked by the upgrade after restarting their computers. Pic somewhat related
have you tried pirating it?

Been thinking about /g/'s opinion on privacy lately.
What's everyone's deal on their privacy?
Do you use social media?
Do you even give a shit about your privacy?
Is mass surveillance ethical?
To what extent do you go to so that you keep your privacy?
Are you socially retarded?
I already use Gmail for all personal and work related emails
I already use Facebook to organize events with friends
I already get half my monthly purchases from Amazon
Caring about privacy at this point is futile. I've embraced the botnet.

I have been bashing my head against the wall for like 5 hours trying to get this simple Verilog circuit to work.
I know this is low chance, but would anyone be able to help me?
It is pretty simple, 4 inputs into 4 AND gates and then the 4 AND gets input into an OR gate.
I get f = 0 no matter what input I give a, b, x, y.module exp3veri(x, y, a, b, f);
input x;
input y;
input a;
input b;
output f;
wire nXAB = (~x & a & b);
wire YAnB = (y & a & ~b);
wire YnAB = (y & ~a & b);
wire XnAnB = (x & ~a & ~b);
assign f = (nXAB | YAnB | YnAB | XnAnB);
endmodule
module exp3veri(x, y, a, b, f);
input x, y, a, b;
output f;
wire nXAB;
wire YAnB;
wire YnAB;
wire XnAnB;
assign nXAB = (~x & a & b);
assign YAnB = (y & a & ~b);
assign YnAB = (y & ~a & b);
assign XnAnB = (x & ~a & ~b);
assign f = (nXAB | YAnB | YnAB | XnAnB);
endmodule
If this doesn't work, your logic is incorrect.

wow you are right. i guess my logic is wrong. fuck i just been wasting like 5 hours cuase of this. fuck me in the ass.

How long until computers can solve chess?
>>54866133
Deep Blue was then heavily upgraded, and played Kasparov again in May 1997. Deep Blue won game six, therefore winning the six-game rematch 3½–2½ and becoming the first computer system to defeat a reigning world champion in a match under standard chess tournament time controls.
