Thanks cmdrkotori.
And thanks AUR.
Give me one good reason not to use MPC-Qt

is it mpv backend with mpc style frontend? sounds ideal but I'll probably just stick with mpv for now
If MPV/MPC-Qt is so good why are they trying to copy MPC-HC?

What is humorous/rage inducing about this
>/g/ complains about AMD
>/g/ doesn't realize that without AMD Nvidia could charge whatever they wanted
>/g/ doesn't believe in competition
I know some of you are payed to be here, but AMD is saving you a ton of money to play your precious games /v/.
They do charge whatever they want still. Otherwise a 1080 wouldn't be 700ish dollars.
AMDfags are basically the peasants that help keep the true masterrace alive

No one is asking you to. Just try it and see for yourself what suits you best.
> What is the best config?
There is no "best" config. Config is a personal thing that varies between users and hardware setups. Just don't forget to use opengl-hq instead of opengl if you can (or something better). You can always ask here about things you don't understand/not sure. Some example configs are shown below.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

T420 still goat edition
>>54994529
I have a T420. I want to buy a mini dock plus and attach a microphone, headphones, keyboard, mouse, and Ethernet. I think I also want to upgrade to a t430 in the near future.
Is the mini dock plus series 3 fully compatible with both t420 and t430? What about x220/x230?
Is the t430 worth upgrading to from the dankpad? How much more powerful is the nvs5400 board vs. the 4200 or in my case just hd3000? How much better is the ivy bridge chipset vs sandy bridge?
>>54994634
Mini dock 3 is fully compatible with all those models.
Ivy bridge is a very minimal upgrade from Sandy. The HD 4000 is about 15% faster than the 3000.

Why haven't you ditched bloated, overengineered databases like Postgres and SQLite for Berkeley DB yet?
Reminder that SQL has no place in modern software development that should embrace performance and simplicity.
Pfft, use it before under openldap.
It will corrupt your db if unclean shutdown or maybe some random thing.
Sure you can recover by running recovery manually.
tl;dr: NOPE
>>55023661
Berkeley DB has ACID transactions
because MemSQL is the superior masterrace
Do any tablet, Windows or Android (via OTG), supply enough power over micro-USB to power an external hard-drive?
I'm trying to figure out the cheapest and most compact solution for a year-long trip, where it'd be nice to bring along movies and something to watch them on, but a laptop seems like overkill. And flash storage too expensive.
It's pretty much always 5V, and pretty much always below 1A.

>you can't even merge directories on OSX
This thing reads like a farce. How can OSX be such a shitty OS and how can people look past it?
http://www.howtogeek.com/198043/how-to-merge-folders-on-mac-os-x-without-losing-all-your-files-seriously/
>>55023447
Why make such a pointless thread on /g/?
You can merge just fine on OS X.
>>55023546
Yeah except it dumbly just pastes over the entire target directory

You cant copy folders with files that name contains for instance kyrghiz alphabet characters.
5820K is worth it for future proof?

>>55022827
why
Future proofing is never worth it, you get severely diminishing returns the more money you spend.
Hey /g/ Im posting from my phone so sorry if there is a thread for stupid questions but I cant see it.
Ive been having hard drive problems. I currently use 1 samsung ssd and 2 western digital greens.
One of the wdg when plugged in makes the pc really fucking slow and it doesnt show its volume Im not totally sure what to do, is there a chance of getting data of it?
Ive currently reformatted the pc because I was drunk and thought that was a good idea but I guess that tells me it is 100% the hard drive
I cant really load any programs while its plugged in, the other wdg shows up perfectly.
If I remember correctly when trying to rar some family photos to back up it said disk full I think even thought I had about 300gb left.
Ive checked the sata cable and the same problem still happens so its not that, the possible corrupt hard drive also stored my programs, I cant right click to show properites on the hard drive, I cant run crystal disk because it doesnt load up while the hard drive is plugged in.
Id be happy if I could recover some files off it around 3gb then I would write it off and get a new one but yeah.
Aby advice on where to go next?
>>55022423
Well you're gonna need some sort of partitioning tool, there's this great thing called gentoo, it has all the stuff you'll need.
>>55022452
Ahh sorry man, my phone is wank like my pc
>>55022464
But I just want the both hangover and thr hard drive headache to end...not start. If I knew what I was doing in gentoo Id already be there.
