I have just noticed this listing. It must be a new product since I often search for LGA 1366 motherboards.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Black-Intel-X58-Computer-ATX-Motherboard-LGA-1366-Socket-B-8-USB-DDR3-/131739591301?hash=item1eac4aa285:g:p9cAAOSwe7BW1FTt
About $100 for a brand new socket LGA 1366 motherboard in the ATX form factor is an uncommon thing. Most of the Supermicro motherboards are large EATX units.
This board only has a single PCI-E slot and a maximum of 8gb of ram. The PCI-E speed is not listed. I sent an email to the seller asking if they know the speed. If it is at least PCI-E 2.0 this board could be pretty useful for budget builds.
It probably supports the Xeon x5500/5600 CPU line, which are still good CPUs you can get on ebay for less than $50.
If this board supports overclocking you can intall an x5650 and get it up over 4.0ghz easily.
>>55030490
If it was 2011 I would care.
>>55030490
Not all 1366 boards support the Xeon chips
And why not just get a Rampage 2/3 used off eBay for less money, it's way better value and functionality
>>55030527
Never know about used motherboards, and I have not see any of them selling for $100 or less. Rampage usually go in the $130-200 range.
Apple is evil and needs to die, these bastards have lobbyists who are working to make it illegal for anyone but them to repair their products you bought.
You bought that laptop off them but you really don't own it, they want it to be illegal for anyone but them to fix your machine.
Our favorite repair man Louis Rossmann explains it in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eyidi2HaMY
Certain companies, like Apple, refuse to release any information on how their computers are put together or provide replacement parts. The companies believe that this should be illegal for several bullshit arguments, but what it comes down to is that these companies don't want you to repair your machines and make them last - they want you to buy a new one.
As it stands, companies are currently fighting their hardest to ensure that your property, the machines you bought from them, are not actually yours. You can't do with them what you wish.
>>55030452
But they don't even repair their products, they throw it in the trash and replace it.
>>55030725
and so it should be illegal for you to repair your laptop?
/g/entoomen, where were you when Nvidia lost the GPU wars?
lets wait and see how that shitbox doesnt even make it to the top 10 sales
kek poo in the loo
There are still the cuckolds that will buy 2 or 3 for sli.
>Nvidia makes money, AMD loses money
>Nvidia gains market share, AMD loses market share
If that's what losing looks like to you, I'm curious as to what you think it looks like to win.
The fact you spend your time drawing memes might explain why the concept is alien to you.
>install ubuntu
>asks me if i want to install mp3, flash, wifi, gpu drivers all in one
uh, how about letting me choose which ones i want to install instead?
what if i don't want to install flash you flaming faggots. now i have to google all of my drivers, smdh
>free software
never again
>>55030259
The fucking don't install it you imbecile and use package manager to install whatever you want after you are done with install.
>>55030308
and how exactly am i supposed to know which drivers it is that i have to install

Meanwhile Windows 10 installs Flipshit, Candy Crush, Office Trials WITHOUT CHOICE.
Goddamnit /g/ I wish you actually had a brain
why do we use silicon and the same manufacturering for every cpu and gpu?
why not do something from scratch? totall different? kinda maybe its made of liquid or maybe it is made of a unique element or synthesized material... maybe it doesnt follow cpu manufacturing of today.
why do cpu and gpu guys just copy the guys of the past but slightly imrpvoe them (better nm and stuff)??? why not actually rethink how a computer works, maybe it wont even use binary. it could literally use a quantum language. or us planck particles to generate and store data for cpmuting...
just wondering... why has nobody tried it?

Kill yourself.
There are different substrates, Si is the best so far because it's cheapest and easiest to work with.
Again, kill yourself.

This, desu senpai.
1) Do not feed the trolls.
2) If this isn't a troll, then this person is sadly far beyond trying to teach anything to.
Is this method of encrypting my Chinese cartoons secure?
>AES
enjoy the NSA faggot
but yeah your anime is safe from your mom.
>>55030225
Basically use blowfish or twofish or serpent, since they where the runners up for AES.

Thanks, that's what I was concerned about.

Now that Smartflix is kill and a lot of VPNs blocked once again from Netflix, what are some good services for watching US (and other countries') Netflix? Bonus if it's inexpensive

Other than torrents
Any VPN's that plan on keeping netflix watchable?
Aren't you afraid of the growing restrictions the Internet is suffering and will suffer in the near future due to government involvement and regulation of information? What will happen with the great libraries? The torrenting sites? BookZZ and lib.gen and so on? Are you downloading and backing up already? Am I just paranoid? What if some information just isn't available anymore?

Yes

I'm permaseeding some of the libgen torrents.

I'm a 9-5 senior developer at a company that does enterprise web applications for a few big clients
I have a good idea that I really think I could sell, but I don't have the time to implement it
Has anyone else faced this dilemma? How did you manage? Do you guys still program on your free time when you have a full-time job?
>>55029646
Sorry for not having a useful reply to your question, but do you have any advice on how to maintain your passion for coding outside of your job?
I taught myself to code and really enjoyed doing it for a while, but once I got my first job, my passion just got put out, and I don't want to deal with coding outside of work.
Is it just because I'm a low-level codemonkey and things'll change later on?
>>55029736
I've been seriously working as a developer for about 5 years now (C#) and my passion to code comes and goes in waves
Last year I bought a few books on C++ because I just really found it fascinated and screwed around with it for a couple months on my free time
Since then I lost interest in leisure programming until recently when I had this idea.
The only thing that has stuck with me for this long really is my passion to be the best developer I can. I strive to make sure whatever I check in at the office is tested and handled, clean and efficient even before it goes to QA
When you have an idea of something you want to really create using your skills, that spark will come back. Until then just keep learning and be the best developer possible
>>55029646
Start it on weekends, then when the project gains some traction give it an hour each night. Take baby steps but when it reaches critical mass you'll have to decide if you want to pivot to it full time but either way you'll be ready for that when the moment comes rather than leaving too early before you are ready or missing the mark and sticking around.
>>55029736
Take vacations, and don't even think about loading up your work laptop or email on your phone. If you are like be it has been less than 5 years, I'm doing systems engineering/devops sort of stuff but I feel your pain. Once you save up vacation time it will get a little better.
When I'm between jobs, even if I have something else lined up I'll tell them that I can't start until a month or two out so that I can refresh myself for the next endeavor. Don't jump onto the next boat too quick.
why do you still have this cancer installed? youtube and xvideos work without it so why?
But I don't.
cause i dont care, like most people
So that I can see the little ask-to-activate notification show up. If it happens on a site with no obvious and relevant Flash elements, I know that the site is super fucking fishy and I never go back.
As if there weren't a million other ways to know, Facebook and Imgur are notorious examples of this issue. Whatever they're trying to run using the Flash plugin, it's not integral to the site and not obvious to the user. Fucking disgusting.

What do you with old 3.5" HDDs?
I've been going through some old hard drives, destroying the ones that don't work and keeping the ones that still have some life in them. I don't have any room to put them in my PC and I kind of don't want to use an enclosure since the large ones usually require an external power source.
>>55029365
Also, one is a 20 GB IDE, the other two are 500/320 GB SATA drives.
>>55029365
What do you do with your used toilet paper?
Wipe with many passes, stick into garbage/cheap machines with no HDDs, get machine running, give to poor people. When businesses toss machines into dumpsters it's usually the HDD missing because of security concerns. Otherwise they're ready to roll.
Which should I install?

Just closing the browser and starting it again works but that's being a hassle. Anyone know what's wrong with my browser?
It's been two years that I have my computer and I didn't had this issue before.
Whenever I start my computer it take a lot of time to show me the bios screen (it can take a few minutes to one hour)
Once the bios screen appears, it boot normally.
I tried to unplug most devices of the computer, it still is slow to show me the bios screen.
What can be the issue ? Once it boots, everything works and run normally
I posted this the other day and while I got some help I couldn't fix it. Now I'm by my computer so it might be easier. I'm a total noob tho so pls no bully
I bought a slightly used 980 ti and a 1440p 144hz monitor but everything caps at 60 frames per second. The nvidia control panel won't let me change it to 144hz. I'm using a new hdmi cable and for some reason displayport isn't working with my 980ti.
Any suggestions?
