Was it running windows 8 or higher? Some new computers don't like it when you try to take control.
I'm not sure how, but they can actually do something to your hardware that won't let you boot without a copy of the OS that did it in the first place.
Scary, I know.

So I am a NEET and out of the blue I got a proposal to work as a sysadmin for a small (is ~60 people considered small?) company. I am officially tired of being on Winblows for my daily driver. So I am jumping ship. I am considering Debian but that is not the question at hand.
My plan is to run a VM of Winblows and I was wondering what kind of performance I should expect with VT-d. Things that I have read are not too great however those articles that I have read are fairly old and I am not sure that they are still applicable.
I am running an R9 390 and a i7-4790k
