Hello
I built a new computer recently. My system keeps rebooting randomly. I checked windows error log and saw "kernel power 41 (63)". According to Microsoft this is a general power failure message. I took my case apart and noticed what looked like brownish grease on my motherboard above the video card. I rebooted my computer suspecting a blown capacitor. It turned on for about a minute then shut down again. I attempted a reboot but the computer wont post.
Pressing the power button causes all the fans to spin and the lights to come on with the exception of the video cards.
The board is an msi and so is the video card. My question is... Is this the likely reason for the random reboots? Should I bother with an rma or will msi just waste my time? Would they cover the video card since their faulty mobo shorted it out? Should I also attempt to rma the psu?
I'm worried they'll say its somehow my fault... I'm also worried this will happen again. Anyone here have experience with msi rma process, do they seem fair and understanding?

>Why Software Should Be Free
>by Richard Stallman
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/shouldbefree.en.html
>Fewer people use the program.
>None of the users can adapt or fix the program.
>Other developers cannot learn from the program, or base new work on it.
So what?
You're confused. Stallman isn't advocating for software users to become IT experts or computer programming. Users do not need any form of IT aptitude to study and modify the free software they want.
Imagine you have a recipe for a cake that you love but you have an idea of an extra ingredient that you want to add to make it even better. However, the creator of the recipe has locked it down so you can only make the cake exactly as he intended.
Now let's imagine you somehow manage to add your extra ingredient. The cake takes even better and you want to share your new recipe with your friends and other people online so they can enjoy the cake too. Whoops, that's illegal, you've now been thrown in jail.
Now also imagine that you find another recipe in the book to make a really nice pie. However, when you try to make the pie there's not enough pastry! You realise there must have been a mistake in the recipe so you try and change it. But wait, you can't because the creator has locked it down so that it can only be used exactly as he made it.
Proprietary code is like those recipes.

even if you don't want to modify the program, other people do, and free software a.) allows them to do that, and b.) allows you to benefit from their work.
Why does it seem like the Linux community is totally unable to make software for design that even comes close to Windows/Mac alternatives? I understand lack of first party ports due to lack of marketshare by Linux however the Linux alternatives are just so bad. Gimp for example is fine for medium tier image manipulation but cant even make a non-ghetto circle and lacks 99% of the usability in a professional environment of Photoshop. Same with Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator. Will Linux ever be usable for graphic design? I hate being cucked by Microsoft and Apple.

OP I've got photoshop (your argument) running here. What do you want me to do with it now? Will try to deliver

I'm going for a week's vacation. Recommend me a tech-related book that reads well in lazy offline mode but still informative.
Something along the lines of "Silence on The Wire", "Tangled Web" or "Data and Goliath".

There are some things that just need the flash plugin. I reinstalled my PC a week ago (win10, shame on me I know), and now I'm asking myself if I want to install flash this time.
Do you concider it "save enough" if I run updates as soon as they come out? Or is it still too fucked up?
>>55072311
why would you want to install flash?

I haven't had flash installed for about 2 years. There's always a viable alternative.
Hi /g/
my girlfriend bought me a bomb making kit for my birthday a few days ago (arduino 2560 - pic related).

I have problem with this code:
http://pastebin.com/4XpVqMnk
as you can see from the pic too.
I acquire a matrix as a string (all in one line) from input and store it the numbers var.
Then I proceed to fill the matrix with the values gotten. But I noticed that sscanf picks the first %d value every time w/o advancing further, so the matrix is being filled all with the first number. Why is that?

You're not increasing the buffer position, so it will always start searching from the start of the buffer.
>>55072226
How can I increase it?
>>55072249
Two secs, I'm writing an example now. Short answer: use strtok

thoughts on WiFi hotspots?
i have to live on a fucking ranch outside of the city for the rest of the year and i get 150kb/s if i'm LUCKY. it regularly fluctuates and every single multiplayer game i own is unplayable at this point. no choice to upgrade or get different internet.
Luckily I have unlimited data from verizon still, but i've tried tethering my data with Easytether to play vidya and i get weird problems (CSGO for example, will work totally fine for 10 or so mins and then all characters will stop moving and then a few mins later i get disconnected)
are there any other options for me or am i fucked /g/? should i just buy a laptop and start hunting down free wifi?
You're probably fucked. I would never expect gaming on a hotspot to be a fun time.
>>55071628
It's hell, but it's my only choice for the next year, I was hoping there was some other weird way I hadn't thought of before.
>>55071602
I occasionally game on a Verizon hotspot and cam barely tell the difference from my regular BB connection. But if you still have unlimited data from VZ, then you're probably on 3G and still getting throttled after using a few gigs right?
