Allright /g/, give me all you got.
I have this hard disk (WD Blue 1TB) (> pic related) and it has just completely gone to shit. I have tried numerous ways to fix it, but so far, none have succeeded, here's what I tried and what the effect was:
- Windows partition management - Doesn't detect the drive
- Windows device management - Detects the drive, says it works fine, crashes when trying to view the 'details' tab
- Windows DISKPART command-line partitioning utility - Doesn't detect the drive
- Insert disk into SATA slot, boot to different disk - PC doesn't boot anymore (tried 2 different PC's, booted to a different disk than the fucked one, didn't work)
- GParted (distro-version) - crashes when inserting the disk, if the disk is inserted before boot, pc won't boot
- WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for windows - doesn't detect the drive
- Darik's Boot And Nuke (DBAN) - erased the drive it was running from, didn't fix the broken one
Is there anything else I could try? I'm probably going to just say fuck it and have some fun playing with it next week (magnets 'n such).
If there's anything you'd like to see happen, you can request here, I'll see what I can do...

lmao
your data is long gone, next time make a backup noob
>>55209963
I don't really give a fuck about data loss, just wondering if I could return it to a usable state...
Gently hit it with a hammer on the corner opposite to the ports. See if it works.
why do I feel like I come across as autistic whenever I have to reply to emails in work related things?
whats the right level of formality for standard tech jobs. I have a guy who always replies with shit like "10-4" and other dadisms but then I feel like a douche for writing formal.
posted in /g/ because maybe you'd understand this feel.
>>55209899Hi X,

Thanks,

Or just respond with the same level of formality as the email you received.

What makes Gentoo so great?
it teaches you how linux actually works. lfs is better though
>>55209893
Arch install teaches you more about the inner workings of Linux.

What would be a better mobo choice for gaymen, Micro ATX or Mini ITX, coupled with a full sized GPU and modular PSU, The last time I checked the Mini ITX boards and some problems with power.
>/v/
>>55209770
mini-itx is perfectly fine
For a full sized GPU, at least mATX. If you put an ITX board on an ATX case with a big GPU it's gonna look retarded.
THERES A FUCKING BUG IN MY MONITOR HOW THE FUCK DO I GET IT OUT WITHOUT DISASSEMBLING MY SHIT?

Sup guys. OP from the last thread that was installing OpenVPN in a proxmox CentOS vm. I used OpenVPN road warrior and everything went smoothly. Only trouble I had was managing Proxmox firewalls.
Anyways I'm thinking about installing Plex, Sonarr, CouchPotato and the likes. Question is should I roll them out as LXC containers? I've never worked with containers before. Or I could just run them on one VM.
Whats everyone working on?

Hey /g/ check out my old ass camera.
I'm looking to buy a new camera but I'm having trouble finding something with a 1" or larger sensor. I don't want to fork out the cash for a DSLR. What can I get that's cheap as shit and has a lens included?
>>55209607
Id ask >>>/p/
Most people here are developers and gamers.
I heard Sony has some cheap alternatives that can mount lenses
Let me just pop in my floppy disc.
>>55209628
I was looking at the Sony RX100, then I saw a dirty cheap Sony NEX-5T. I almost went out a bought it before I realized that the lens does not come with it. That's why it's so cheap. It's small and uses the same sensor and lenses from the DSLRs.
Also It need to be capable of running linux.

When are we gonna see full Windows/Linux Dev Teams?
Here's the thing:
Windows developers work in an office.
Linux developers work in their mother's basement...and give away their code for free.
>>55209718
No
Windows devs code games/toys and CRUD business software
Linux devs do embedded development, or develop massively distributed software, or do scientific computation
OS X "programmers" create flashy webpages, pic related

I want a mic, a decent one and I know nothing about them. A friend told me too search "professional microphone" on aliexpress cause there's good ones but the specs make zero sense to me.
My budget is 50$~100$ (???), but I don't even know how much I should actualy spend.
I want it to skype, record audio for some infomative videos and maybe sing. I don't own any audio interface more than what's integrated on my PC (generic realtek thingy), yet I don't mind buying something else if that would improve the quality.
>>55209529
get a Shure SM58. It's a decent mic for your purposes.
>>55209529
BM800 (plus audio card if background noise on your current one) or blue snowball. Both well below your max, both excellent mics I've used.

What could this computer run?
How would its GPU compare to a gtx 950?

Microsoft Office. No games post 2003.
>How would its GPU compare to a gtx 950?
Its about 6times slower and will struggle with anything 3D.
You can do much better for that kind of money.

What if I upgraded to the 480 when it comes out?
I'd rather not build the entire rig.
>>55209521
It'd run a house fire all by itself with anything more graphically intensive than Doom, that's for sure
I decided I wasn't autistic enough so the Arch ISO is writing to USB now. How do you fags prefer to setup/style your Arch? Bonus for pics

Sup /g/uys, so my system disk died in my oldass home server. The problem is that it still uses IDE because all the SATA ports are used up by the storage disks.
Care to recommend me something modern (pic related) to replace it or am I doomed to buy an old overpriced old drive/converter/controller?
>>55209513
You can modern used servers for literally 30$
Why on earth do you want to use an old ass IDE drive?
>>55209526
I'm in europe, shit is not that easy to get here ;_;
Also professional servers with loud datacenter fans are a no-go in my household, I got nowhere to place them so they won't be heard... That's why I built a custom one with quiet cooling and it served me well so far after all those years so... yeah.
You'd be better suited booting from a USB drive than using whatever the fuck abomination that IDE SSD is supposed to be.
Let's be honest here. If you need anything more powerful than an RX 480, you are wasting your money.
got 2 gtx 1080 so i can play everything on ultra in 4k.
stay mad
>>55209460
>got 2 gtx 1080 so i can play everything on ultra in 4k.
>stay mad
4k vs QHD is not worth the extra $1200. Also, you are delusional if you think you can play dx12 games in 4k with SLI 1080s.
>>55209483
who said anything about the 13 dx12 games at 4k.
im playing shit just fine at 4k 60fps with the 2 1080.
yet again stay mad. or just reply to this post with a shitpost about Ashes of the Singularity.
